  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
make sure you check 2013 too ok? It's ok, facts haven't been your forte so far. For a player you 'like' you sure struggle to give him any credit.

Also feel free to explain why the last 3 seasons Rielly is 61st in Goals/60 and 27th in Primary Assists/60 on the PP among D men. Are those the numbers that anchor our PP?

Sure is, which is why it makes sense to use several seasons. Doing so establishes Mo as a solid PP QB and the only one we have.
Odd that he was a big part of a good PP before any of them were Leafs too eh? Just lucky I guess.

And this is not even taking into account how much more important he's been 5 on 5 on this team.

Anyway, moving on.

Oddly enough no. Just Rielly.

Rielly wasn’t on the Leafs in 2013. This discussion is getting stupid now. I’m assuming you mean the lockout shortened 2013 season since you didn’t say 2013-2014?

I think our PP has been struggling and Keefe has been looking for an answer. He tried Sandin earlier in the season too and yet went back to Rielly, why would that be if Sandin was such an instant improvement?
Hes also kept Thornton on the PP for god knows how long. Do you agree that Thornton belongs there? Or can we only use coaching choices when we agree with the decision?

I can only use the facts I have. The facts are that Riles has been a top producer on the PP for a long time. Sandin scored a goal in the last game.

Riles has been a solid producer for a long time, far and away our best overall defenseman consistently for years.

Rielly has consistently been a solid playoff performer.

Rielly is drafted and developed by this team and has been here through good and bad.

I get some people don't like him. I get he struggled at the end of the season. I'll argue his faults and strengths but it has to be a real conversation based on what he brings and not some 10 game sample. If you're constantly downplaying and discrediting his strengths and accomplishments while pretending we can replace him without issue, there is no discussion to be had.

Not necessarily saying it's what you're trying to do but some of the comments in this thread do certainly come off as hot takes based on one game.
Are you related to him???? Sure sounds like it!

We need and will keep Rielly. The short range thinkers who want to move him have no clue.

Al McInnis had a great shot but was terrible other than that defensively.

LOL LOL LOL LOL You can't be serious. MacInnis was a defensive giant. How in the world could you say he was defensively terrible?

No question we should keep him. However this narrative that he warrants a huge raise doesn’t make sense. 6.5 AAV tops he’s not that much better than Brodie and Muzzin

I don't disagree but I would need to spend a few minutes of detailed thought to comment on what I think would work for him salary wise.

I'm still in mini-shock someone would claim MacInnis wasn't good defensively, lol.

That’s much better than my strategy of giving him his current salary + the Kessel retention $ and rounding up

I proposed this about a week ago, Reilly and Nylander for Jones and a nice piece I.E. our number 1 back or preferably a A list prospect. It would be predicated with Jones agreeing to an extension otherwise no deal. If that can be completed we move about $12MM in salary for 2022, take back about $8MM for 1 year giving is net $4MMto use (keep Hyman as a start) add another piece and have a low cost prospect moving up the charts.

sandin scores 1 pp goal and the next day "who do we trade morgan rielly for?"

This isn't recent nor is the development of Sandin. Reilly has been a good player for the Leafs. He's appreciated. But he is going to want more than the Leafs can pay and quite frankly he isn't worth it. I wish him the best, his work here was appreciated. The Leafs chose to sign others instead of him. So let's move on. Business.

you didnt make the thread so im not sure you can speak for the OP lol, the timing of these threads always seem a bit too coincidentally timed no?

The perfect trade partner are the kings who are in the market for a top four LD for doughty. The ask should be a young D and/or young forward.

Absolutely nobody. Captain Morgan is one of the few who actually is a unselfish player on the team. He is elite in every sense. A few bounces here and there don't count since it just goes to show how fast his reaction is.

Makar maybe. Give me an elite skating offensive D-man and I'll think about it. Montreal fans are complaining about how they have no puck moving defenemen after the game today. Can you believe that, they have Mr. huge slapshot and they're dreaming of Mo Rielly.

Their fans are correct. Ours are wrong.
