propably not the best but Raimo Helminen deserves mention

He holds the world record for most international games played at 331 games.
He is also one of only 2 players with Selänne to play in 6 different Olympics.

Heatley had an unbelievable tournament in 2008, that line (Nash-Getzlaf-Heatley) was unstoppable. Heatley 12 goals and 20 points in 9 games, Nash 6g and 13 points, Getzlaf 14 points.

Against the hardest opposition (USA, Finland, Sweden, and Russia), Heatley scored 6 goals in those 4 games. At least one goal in each game.

As a Pens fan I was going to throw Crosby's name into the mix. I thought Sid had a decent tournament this go around, but then I noticed Malkin has the better international record. Better Olympic record and way more GP for Geno, and he has a WC MVP as well. I'd say he's been stellar internationally.

When you start looking at post NHL involvement Olympic records PPG over a few tourneys is a serious achievement...

Guys with 1PPG+ in 10 or more individual Olympic games played:

Hossa: 28 in 19. 1.47 PPG
Demitra: 20 in 15. 1.33 PPG
Sundin: 20 in 16. 1.25 PPG
Koivu: 23 in 20. 1.15 PPG
Selanne: 32 in 29. 1.10 PPG
Hull: 11 in 10. 1.10 PPG
Alfredsson: 27 in 26. 1.04 PPG
Bure: 12 in 12. 1.00 PPG

That is a seriously short list considering how many amazing players have played in multiple Olympics... I mean, by my count around 150 forwards have played in 10+ Olympic games since 98.

Mostly guys who padded their stats by playing against inferior competition.

Agreed, but I would adjust for the fact that some of those Olympics were not best-on-best tournaments, eg 1992 and 1994 winter games.

Robert Reichel was one of the best Czech players for the NT. Not necessarily in terms of points (72 points in 99 games) but in achivements. 1 OG gold, 3 WHC golds, 4 WHC bronze, 1 WC bronze. Was C at 6 WHCs (including all gold WHCs and one bronze WHC) and at the WC in 2004. He was definitely better player for the national team than for teams in the NHL or Czech league

Note the clarification by the OP (see thread title): This is not about earlier players like Kharlamov or even Robert Reichel. It's about current players.

He has an unbelievable 116 points in 87 games for Sweden, including a record 31 points in 7 games at the World Junior Championship of 1993.

2 Olympic Gold
2 World Championship Gold
3 World Championship Silver
2 World Junior Championship Silver (all time top scorer of the tournament)

You can't do better than that. That goal to win it for Sweden is the #1 highlight of his career. He's retired, but he's the best international performer of all time IMO.

Mozyakin has always been a disappointment on the international stage. He doesn't belong here.

He has an unbelievable 116 points in 87 games for Sweden, including a record 31 points in 7 games at the World Junior Championship of 1993.
And "only" 57 points in 63 games on adult level. I agree that Forsberg was great though.

Pavel Datsyuk is really good internationally. 66 games and only 51 points, and he's only been the World Champion once, but it includes 4 Olympics, 2004 World Cup (Pavel has 21 points in 23 Olympic games) and great all-around play.

Another Russian veteran who has always delivered is Danis Zaripov: 48 points in 48 games, 3 time world champion. Though he's been a part of an excellent ZZM line.

Evgeni Malkin: 77 points in 69 games (also 42 points in 30 U18 and U20 games), 2-time World Champion, U18 champion.

Fittingly enough, Gretzky had 99 points in 61 international games, including 17 points in six games as a 16-year-old at his only WJC. He was the youngest player to ever lead the tournament in scoring.
