TV: Survivor: General Discussion

Please tell me someone else here is watching Deal of no Deal Island season 2.

It has Parvati, David from AU survivor and Dr. Will from big brother on it. Will just pulled some of the most ridiculous stuff this past episode that made for some of the greatest competition reality tv I've seen recently. Its been a joy to see him back on the screen after nearly 20 years and hes right back to what he was doing all those years ago, just trolling everyone.

I have never been able to get into Big Brother, tried like one episoide here and there and it just lost my interest immediately.

But I'm loving Will in this and what he did last episode was awesome and hilarious. I'm rooting for him, but eventually someone that beats the banker that doesn't like him is going to vote him out.

His entire deal or no deal game was just vintage Dr. Will. Mans takin a piss with the actual game by just picking the cases all in order starting from 1. Everyone absolutely hating that hes doing it and getting so annoyed with him saying hes making a mockery out of it all 🤣 Then instantly accepts the first deal the second it comes out of Joes mouth and pressing the button, KNOWING he didnt ACTUALLY accept the offer because he read the rules and remembered them so thoroughly and everyone losing their minds on him for something that didnt even end up mattering 😂 Shit was pure CINEMA. I was laughing the entire time.

I was wondering why it seems like Canada has had so many good players in recent years.

Is it that the good players from the country hadn’t been selected previously and now they are and the American pool of talent has become diluted? Or is it completely random that the 1-2 Canadians it seems like make the show per season are usually some of the main protagonists of the show?

There are plenty of good people they can pick from, thousands apply each time, but they are looking for very "specific" type of people normally. They are unfortunately still in the year 2019 where they refuse to cast entertaining people because they don't want any drama. Really wished they would just cancel the US version at this point and air the AU version, which is 100x better.

Natalie Cole and Carl Boudreaux from David vs. Goliath (Season 37) are confirmed to have a cameo in the upcoming Season 3 of the HBO Series White Lotus. The series is directed by David vs. Goliath castaway Mike White.

They will be the 4th and 5th members of Survivor DvG to appear in the series after Alec Merlino was in 5 episodes of Season 1. Angelina Keeley and Kara Kay were in the opening scene of Season 2 of White Lotus.

I think it's awesome that Mike White is giving cameos to some Survivor players. I told my wife I think it would be funny if Natalie was in a scene where a bell-hop asked her "Can I take your jacket?"

I think it's mostly just random luck. You could say Canadians tend to be more reserved and orderly than Americans on average, but someone like Maryanne is far from reserved and Venus is neither reserved or particularly orderly. Outside of nationality, it'd be very hard to find common links that exist across Venus, Maryanne, Genevieve, Erika, Shan, Omar, Kaleb, and Kane.

Jess from 46 is Canadian, but lived in the States at the time. Her and Tom Laidlaw (former Ranger) are the only ones who have failed to make it to the jury phase.

Natalie is iconic. She was a guest on an RHAP podcast once and was a great listen. Wish she woulda made it deep into her season.
Agreed. She's a great character and seemed decent enough at the game, just didn't have a good enough chance.

I’m hoping with some of the societal tides changing in the last six months that Survivor will end the crazy casting and get back to just casting the best players, regardless of what category they fit into.
