Which Team Has Best All-Time Lineup?

Pens would be unbeatable against other teams all time teams, the only thing that could stop them is an all time NHL team
My first thought was the Penguin Cs + Jagr is pretty monstrous but when you look at the Habs they are going to crush everyone with sheer depth. Most of the original 6 teams can throw together insane all time blue lines and goaltending, the Habs take forwards to another level. Sure the Penguins could compete forward wise but they do not have a Dryden or a Roy or list of Norris winners to chose from.

Montreal:

Bowman/Blake

Olmstead-Beliveau-Geoffrion
Moore-H.Richard-M.Richard
Blake-Morenz-Lafleur
Gainey-Carbonneau-Provost

Lapointe-Harvey
Savard-Robinson
Laperriere-Tremblay

Roy
Plante

spare: Lalonde, Cournoyer, Joliat, Vezina, Dryden, Bouchard, Chelios, T.Johnson

Like to see Unger over Anderson or Moore

i'm more impressed by guys that dominated a large international league than i am guys that dominated a tiny 6 team league with only canadien players, but maybe that is just me

Probably just you.

Most people understand that there were good hockey players before their teams existed. Not all their success came during the original 6 era either so you are not coming off as all that...sincere.

Taking players who’ve played for your favorite team, who would be on your all time line up & which team has the best all-time lineup?

Rangers:

Kurri - Gretzky - Jagr
Bure - Esposito - Lafleur
Dione - Messier - Bathgate
Robitaille - LaFontaine - Gartner

Leetch - Park
Greshnar - Horton
Harvey - Zubov

Lundqvist
Plante
Sawchuk

maybe im confused, but your gonna be comparing a rangers jagr to a pens jagr? both teams will say jagr is theirs when he cant be on two teams

i'm not saying there weren't good teams before the pens, i'm just saying they aren't as good as the pens

who on the 80's - current canadiens team makes the pens team other than roy and price?

Vancouver Canucks:

Sedin - Sedin - Skriko
Näslund - Kesler - Bertuzzi
Bure - Linden - Mogilny
Courtnall - Ronning - Sundström

Öhlund - Salo
Edler - Jovanovski
Lumme - Hamhuis

Loungo
Mclean

The fact that we haven't had a bona fide, Norris caliber #1 dman in our 48 years of existence is insane. Just give us Dahlin ffs

Just based on how guys were during their time in Colorado, I'd pick something like this for an all-time Avs team:

Tanguay - Sakic - Hejduk
O'Reilly* - Forsberg - Drury
Landeskog - MacK - Rantanen
Kamensky* - Stastny - Deadmarsh (i've written & re-written this line so many different ways lol)
(Yelle - Lemieux)

Bourque - Blake
Foote - Johnson
Zadorov - Barrie
(Ozolinsh)

Roy
Varlamov
I'm utterly shocked we've made it this far and no one has said the Avalanche/Nordiques. I'm not gonna throw together a four line team. Rather I'm just gonna give you the star studded cast of players who have been with them.

Sakic, Sundin, Forsberg, Nolan, Kariya, Selanne, Andreychuk, Goulet, Peter Stastny, Foote, Blake, Bourque, Roy and that's just off the top of my head. I'd take that lineup against anyone except for maybe the GOAT Red Wings -who would push a series to 7 games just like in the 90's

If you get to use ALL the players then this is the best all time team in my opinion.

A lot of those guys weren't at the height of their powers for the avs. Based on their play for this organization none of Sundin, Nolan, Kariya or Selanne deserve to be anywhere close to their all-time lineup.

Have to believe Detroit is up in the top three. Only going modern NHL players for the most part, unless they're no brainers, as I never saw them play.

Shanahan - Yzerman - Fedorov
Howe-Delvecchio- Lindsay
Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Brett Hull
Robitallie- Larionov- Marcel Dionne
Reserves: Hossa, Gallant

Lidstrom - Kelly
Konstantinov - Chelios
Paul Coffey - Larry Murphy
Reserves- Provonost, Rafalski

Hasek
Sawchuk

80s seems like a bit of cherry picking to me knowing they won numerous cups in the 70s but let's see who the 80s had:
Lafluer, Gainey, Robinson, Chelios and Serge Savard+ Roy. The 90's had some pretty solid guys too.

If you want to say the Pens have had better players since the 80s knock yourself out but that's not really the question.

I bet the Nordiques/Avs would ice a good one.

Okay, here's my try at an Avs/Nordiques team. I probably missed somebody obvious.

Forwards
Michel Goulet - Joe Sakic - Owen Nolan
Anton Stastny - Peter Stastny - Milan Hejduk
Mats Sundin - Peter Forsberg - Adam Deadmarsh
Claude Lemieux - Dale Hunter - Wilf Paiement

D-men
Ray Bourque - Rob Blake
Adam Foote - Jean-Claude Tremblay
Normand Rochefort - Mario Marois

Goalies
Patrick Roy - Ron Hextall

Bench:
Valeri Kamensky
Jacques Richard
Alexei Gusarov

Pretty good, eh? I suppose one could include Lafleur as well, but I only associate old Lafleur with the Nordiques. Maybe I shouldn't.

They 100% couldn't, but I think these questions mean in relation to their era.

Most AHL teams would dominate the 1950s NHL if they were placed in the league as is, with current physical conditioning and such.

the thought process required to recognize players from other eras and their skill level in relation to other eras is to deep and complicated for most.

Why not? We can create lineups of everyone in their prime/acclimated to the current league based on their dominance within their own era but we can't do it twice for a guy?

:edmonton not close

Garbage bin - prime Gretzky - trumps paper towels
Hot dog stand - McDavid - king size bed (that rotates and a tiger fur blanket)
Waffles - Messier - Mercedes Benz G wagon
Bacardi 151 - Weight - Jeff "O'dogg" O'neil's lifted 2014 Ford Explorer

Defence? Doesn't matta

Kariya and Selanne for sure, but if longevity isn't a big factor and you're picking a guy like Rantanen with only 125 games under his belt, I don't see how at least Sundin doesn't get a spot over him when he played over 300 and his best season finished 11th in points. Nolan as well had two top 10 goal finishes with the Nords including 3rd in '95. Might not be on the team but should at least be close.

From the post you quoted: "Just based on how guys were during their time in Colorado"

Sundin played zero games in Colorado. Nolan played nine (although he did have eight points).
