The conditions couldn't be better on their previous contract. The amount of frontloaded money they cashed out in a year broke them.

Don't blame the players we spoiled. Everyone is trying, but it's getting hard to find more mustard for deserving players! I'm not even joking at this point, what else is there?

Both Mitch and Auston got $30,4 mill in 357 days thanks to a signing bonus. No more tax talk, the odds are they spent two weeks a year in the tropical tax heaven and paid 0 tax on it.

Where I’m alienated as a fan is just seeing this tenacious tone in contract negotiations vs how they are on the ice when they lose to the peasants of the NHL.

These players are becoming more and more unlikeable.

It sounds like Matthews insists on another short term deal. So he can cash in on the BIG payday in a few years. I don't think anybody has a problem with Matthews wanting his "fair" share.

The problems all start when Matthews definition of fair is different than everyone else's.

Klingberg turned down a massive $56M deal from Dallas. In attempt to squeeze a few more bucks out of the free market. It's comical how much money he cost himself.

This could be a lesson for Matthews too.

Fans are disgusted with such blatant vulgarity in rapacity. These numbers are astronomical. It's vomit inducing anybody wouldn't be satisfied with so much.

You get what you give.

After seeing his money grubbing ways a lot of fans are turning on Matthews. They would be happy watching him receive his comeuppance. Bugger himself like Klingberg did.

Missing out on dollars chasing after pennies.
