I didn't think Gus had a bad game.

I didn't think Schneider did either. A bad shift doesn't=bad game. It's not hard to differentiate the 2 but some can't do it. It wasn't a pinch fiasco, he whiffed on a puck. Now that SHOULDN'T have happened but that kind of shit just does sometimes, it's not nearly as egregious as covering air on a rush attempt like Lindgren did on the 1st goal, along with the bevy of other mistakes that he made last night and had been making on this entire road trip.

2 penalties and a big whiff on a 2 on 1 by Gus. It happens. 1 game to give jones some time isn’t the end of the world

5 straight on the , 6-1 overall. That’s the kind of thing that gives me a warm feeling running down my leg.
I was one of the biggest skeptics here about Laviolette. He still looks like his underwear is a size too tight but you cannot argue with very good results. Now it’s time to send Carolina a message.
People are quick to say "trap game", well if this game isn't one, I don't know what is.
They creschendo"d with that sweep, now......here comes the home stinker. Carolina believes the have the God given right to be in 1st place.

I kill Panarin maybe more than anyone here. I did not think he had it in him to return to MVP form. Would love more than anything for this to be real and to carry over into the playoffs.

I’m also down for shaving everyone else’s head, starting with #93.
Panarin is a freelancer and the be the most effective version of a freelancer he needs to be freelancing within a structure. The problem under Gallant was it often felt like we had 18 freelancers every night.

nsively he's not an absolute whiz. That's a pretty decent example of it, he almost fell over haha. It wasn't even that serious of a dangle, don't think it was Ehlers or Connor or anything but I could be wrong there. Also, in the last couple of games he has had a couple of questionable pinches and plays in the offensive zone.

Examples?

And no he's not a 2nd pair defenseman, thats why he's on our 3rd pair which for a 3rd pair, has performed exceptionally well of late. This is the best that pair has looked since I can't remember when. If this is what we get out of that pair this year the defense is going to be dope.

My issue is more with people cherry picking an isolated example to say that a player had a bad game or whatever while others get a pass despite actually being bad. We saw it with Miller yesterday too where he made an excellent read and strip at his blue line to force a 2v1 on the PK but then had his pass to Kreider deflected. Meanwhile Lindgren had either Laf or Panarin WIDE OPEN with no Jet within 5 feet of them and a wide open lane that you could have driven a G wagon through to get them the puck but instead he decided to try to walk the line and take a shot that was easily blocked annddd...

It may have been referenced by maybe one other person other than me, I think it was MH.

Long winded way to say that I'm annoyed with the double standards. I mean Fox basically tired to give this game away in OT and it was hardly mentioned.

Last year his EFFORT was very inconsistent . When he's willing to play north south back check forecheck a little .....he's incredible ........when he starts playing east west floating it seems to rub off on the entire team. I love how he's playing now and I hope he keeps it up. Last year some games he gave away the puck in a single game more than he has year to date so far.
Last year was his worst with the Rangers for sure and he did give the puck away a lot. There is no denying this, but he still produced offensively and led the team with 92 points with guys like Goodrow and Vesey playing on the same line. Only 16 players in the league had more points. People remember every give away but when it comes to his scoring they develop amnesia.

last year, everyone's effort was very inconsistent.

that pinch was read by Chytil. He should have covered and dropped back for Schneider imo

Chytil has been poor defensively. Gets lost way too often

He got caught inbetween trying to help Schneider and going back. Schneider shouldn't have whiffed on that puck though but yeah, not a great read.

What shouldn't be lost in this is that Igor should have stopped that wrap around.

Schneider for the most part looks ok, his one on one coverage though is cringe-worthy. He gets beat about once a game to the middle on 1 on 1s, completely unacceptable. He's so worried about blocking the stupid shot on a 1 on 1 (who cares when its from above the circles, even if its through your legs and a TUFFFFFF SAVE JOE) as opposed to taking the body and letting the puck roll wherever. The tape is out on him and guys know to fake a shot and then you can easily get by him.

To be fair, you said Schneider was great in Edmonton, which I agree with. And, last night's comedy of errors was not on the D. The forwards were f***ing terrible with puck management after it looked good for the first 13 minutes of the game.

A lot of this is passes putting forwards into a bad position. Just because a forward can receive a pass does not mean he has time and space to do anything once the puck is received...and we saw that all night long.
