McDavid is the #1 reason but there's several other reasons

For example, Connor Brown is awesome. Glad to finally see him back to form after almost 2 years of injury and recovery

Just another puzzling move when Dorion traded him for a 2nd.

Timely goals and amazing finishing which goes together with Bob not making these high danger saves, all while Skinner has.

Scoring the first goal has helped carry the Oilers through the games. When Florida trails they open up, get impatient and stop wearing you down with their forechecking. With this new amazing finishing ability Edmonton has punished them at every opportunity. They've got everything going for them right now, getting the first goal, shorthanded goals, offside call and so on. In that aspect, they've been fortunate.

If this series were to go on forever I don't think Skinner would end up with a better save percentage than Bob.

It's a very even series. Both teams have gone through periods of dominating. They could just as well have alternated wins up to 3-3

Still think game 7 is a coinflip even though many have written Florida off. They are going to leave absolutely everything on the line in order to not blow a 3-0 lead.

Agreed. In single elimination, one bad bounce, bad call, or mistake can be the difference. Never know.

I will give you my top 5

1. Edmonton has had the easiest route towards the cup. (Kings SUCK, Nucks had key injuries, dallas was done after VGK and Avs nothing left)

2. Florida's defense has gotten tired - Montour's play has really declined especially offensively.

3. Edmonton has had lucky bounces and get aways (Game 5 too many men wasn't called; Hyman's first goal was Bouchar'd shot going really wide hitting hyman and in the net; then same shit happened when puck was going wide hit barkov and in the net, that offside goal callback was bush league garbage IMO, etc....). Two shorties to start 2 games when the F did happen the last time?

4. For some reason Florida forwards have refused to shoot the puck and are just looking to make that extra play

5. THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE IMO - Bob has been unlucky a bit (see 3) but there were goals he should have stopped but didn't.

Additional Point:
There hasn't been much puck luck for Panthers; and Game 7 looks like there might be some for then LOL ;)

The Oilers started using their speed more as the series wore on and that was their big advantage over Florida. Too bad they had such a low energy effort for a lot of game seven. No one was throwing hits, most of the players were just coasting out there, credit to Janmark and Foegele, the only guys really showing hustle for a lot of game 7. They didn't play the type of game they needed to play to win in game 7.

Can we hear the non homer version now? God it's like Jack Edwards started cheering for the Panthers and made an hfb account.

I think Edmonton made a mistake in the end - they played McDavid and Draisail etc too much even though they were getting super tired.

Yes McDavid is the best player by far - but in the end of the period all premium players in Edmonton were super tired and they got their pockets picked the last minute of the game.

Florida played Okposo etc and distributed their effort on many players which in my opinion was the main reason they won game 7. (and a bit of luck of course - it was super close)

EDM found a crack in the game and exploited it using their strengths

97 played a full 30 minutes longer than barkov over the course of the series and he doesn't PK. Unsustainable usage.

Reason they extended it to game 7 and came within a goal of sending it to OT:

The Oilers are a really good team.
