People need to stop using the "Goalie's don't have as much value" philosophy when talking about Price. It does not apply in this scenario. This is a goalie who is regarded very highly by managements and coaches as being not only the best goalie in the world, but arguably the best player.

Well if he was signed longterm sure. But again why would a team trade away a guy like Ekblad, Tavares, Crosby etc for Price. Not even close to happening. Superstar Goalies dont have the same value as superstar skaters, thats a fact. Add that Price only has 2 years left and you are far away from getting a superstar skater in return.

WOW, To think that top goalies come cheap so dont ask for too much for Price. WOW. Top goalies in their prime NEVER get traded. No team that has a top 3 goalie would trade him away because they are EXTREMELY RARE and not because they are worth less. The last team to trade away the best goalie in hockey was the Habs and look what happened? Avs with the cup instantly. many teams need to put fans in the seats and in many cities only top scoring puts fans in the seats or to be more vulgar even top fighters puts fans in the seats, goalies never unless you already have sold out seats. My impression is that original 6 teams understand the true worth of goalies, next the first expansion 6 have learned this lesson over the years, after that this is the kind of post you get. Undervalue all goalies.because they cant score and cant fight.

He won't be traded (negates the PK trade even more) as WEBER is here for him.

If he were to be traded though, to play along with the post, it would be a lot!

One of Laine, Ehler, or Connor, TROUBA signed, Hellybuck (and Pavelec for $$$ reasons) and a pick.... that kinda haul for the best goalie in the world, cost effective for 2 more years.

One of Puljujarvi or Draisaitl, KLEFBLOM, Talbot and a 1st

One of Rackel or Ritchie, LINDHOLM, Gibson and a 1st

One of Couture or Pavelski, VLASIC, and Jones.

Fandom aside, he's a 29 yo injury prone goaltender who is about to get a mega contract.

How often do we see a goaltender remain dominant throughout his UFA years? His value should be on par with that of Luongo in the midst of his prime. So Bertuzzi's equivalent + a 1st?

Think it's be proven that international tournament success = / = NHL success, Price hasn't really won anything, a top two tender in the league at the moment but who knows how long he can keep this pace up and be healthy

what would crosby cost?

what could edm expect as a return for mcdavid.

these questions are almost never made let alone answered.

to Play along

for Price.

Young top 6
top 4 D
1st rounder

so say EDM?

Price for Drais, Larson, 1st rd?

and maybe talbot for a 3rd

who else? Dallas? faska, Klin,1st?

anaheim?

Gibson, Fowler, rak?

either way none will actually happen as the habs management would probably want more and the other teams would want to give less.

If Price does not sign on July 1st 2017 he will be traded the next day.....Price will only agree to go to a team in the west both him and his wife want to be closer to their families....Most likely destinations....San Jose in a blockbuster......Price,Pacioretty,Petry for Jones,Meier,Vlasic.....Colorado in a blockbuster ....Price,Pacioretty for Varlamov and Landeskog.

Why would anyone give up anything close to the rediculous values being tossed around in this thread when a guy like Ben Bishop could be had for significantly less (or free as a UFA)?

And, if Price is worth Drai, Larson and a 1st, as some have claimed, what would 2 time Cup winner Jonathan Quick be worth? McDavid+++?

Thats not even close to the value of Price or any other superstar. Even Subban is worth a lot more than that.

you're calling Qucik a better goaltender because he won two cups playing in front of players like doughty kopitar carter gaborik, muzzin, brown and williams

imagine if Carey had that in front o him all these years instead of of PK.. PAcioretty? plekanec? emelin, Desharnais? PRust? gionta? and still made it to the ECF and probably a Stanley cup if not for injury.

I dont doubt Quick is a great goalie.. but come on man.. not in the same league.

Proof in the pudding. last year without price.. they had the worst record in the league from his injury on. probably just a coincidence though.

Price is the most Valuable player to his team by far. his value is top 3 in the world. and i mean in value not position

Patrick Kane @ 50% retained, Nick Schmaltz, and 2017 1st rounder. That should do it.

Actually, I'm calling Quick better because he's proven that he is better in the playoffs, when it actually matters. Gaudy regular season numbers are great, but the playoffs are when the "proof is in the pudding", to borrow your phrase.

So, why does Price get a pass on being worse in the playoffs when guys like Joe Thornton and MAF get called out for their playoff struggles?

Because Price has an incredible record in the Olympics, the world juniors and the world cup. He has proven he can win.

Joe Thornton has Olympic, World Junior and World Cup gold medals too, not to mention a Ross and a Hart. Again, why does Price get a pass for his NHL playoff struggles if Thornton doesn't? To me, Price is more like Marty Turco than Patrick Roy.

I see that Quick has 2 Cup rings to Price's 0. I see that Quick's numbers improve in the playoffs, when it matters. Price's numbers decrease in the playoffs.

So, what makes Price better, other than playing in Montreal?
