What to make of Logan Couture?

poor man version of Bergeron

industrial player. Underrated offensively

any team would like to have him on their team
Not sure poor man's is the right description.
Cooch has 3 more points in 15 less playoff games. Bergeron is better defensively, but it's not like cooch is a liability by any means. He's a good 200ft player in his own right. I'd say they're pretty comparable.

In my opinion I'd rather have him on my team than any other players left of the other 3 teams.

Just from the Sharks, I would take Brent Burns over him without thinking twice. There’s other guys as well but Burns has been right up there with Couture in both of Logan’s elite playoff runs and is also the much better player over the massive sample size of the regular season.

It might still happen if he wins a Cup and leads the NHL in playoffs scoring again.

To be honest, if I think SJ and scoring points, the first name that pops in my mind it's him (no offense to Hertl, Maier, Burns, Eriksson, etc etc).

Couture has never led the Sharks in regular season points.

I disagree

Bergeron is better on faceoffs... better defensive player. He hasnt won 4 selke by fluke

Both are comparable offensively.

Maybe poor man version is not the right description. But I still say Bergeron has the edge (homer glasses off)

He does. Bergeron is a better overall player. Couture is great though. The two of them are two of the best two way forwards in the league and playoff performers in recent history.

Couture would have almost 10 more points in the same amount of playoff games. Cooch scores more in the playoffs without question. Begeron is better defensively without question. I think begeron is a better playoff performer, but I don't think the margin is by a whole lot is all I'm saying.

Not a slight to bergeron at all, just think Cooch is being a bit undervalued

Agreed. Still mad that the Wild traded him.

This is true

How does one come up with that unless they backward engineer it? Was that an incognito Google search?

Sorry. I'ts a side effect of my particular flavor of autism. I see the phrase "Colorado Avalanche" and my brain goes "hey, that's an anagram for "Ooh! Canola Cave Lard!"

It's a curse. My son loves it though.

(My random anagrams, not canola cave lard)

Players on losing teams should never get the Smythe regardless of how well they played. It should always be someone that helped their team win the Cup...

That would require a change in the evaluation criteria. Although some of the voters changed the criteria on the fly so Crosby could win one.

Gallant Says: Those two bloody teeth on the ice and two stuck in the back of his throat show he was faking that high stick. Total diver.

.....but he plays better than the best players in the NHL during the playoffs.

In a limited game sample in 2 NHL playoffs sure but that's like saying the guy who leads the NHL in scoring from game 37 to 54 is also the best for that time epriod.

doesn't mean much in the overall scheme of things does it?

He is a very good player who has had 2 elite post seasons and several pretty decent ones and a couple of duds.

Giguere absolutely deserved his though.

At this point in his career, Couture doesn’t seem to be too interested in the regular season. Same with Vlasic. Could be part of the reason he flys under the radar. Hell, many Sharks fans on here were talking about how bad his contract was during the season.

He was invisible during the regular season and somehow had the best scoring season in his career. Now we see what happens when he tries in the playoffs.

He wasn’t invisible at all. He just wasn’t flashy. Not sure why this narrative was told on our board.
