What would you trade for Jack Eichel?

Been so sour on dude since that last time we played him.

He and pld showed that they give up when things don't go their way and they get frustrated.

get that shit away from this team attempting to build a new identity.
He still put up 20 points with a busted collar bone and being completely demoralized for the better part of 6 years. I’m honestly shocked he hasn’t asked out sooner. Imagine you love your job and your great at it, but you have to work with a company of complete numbskulls every year and nothing changes. I can understand his frustration. But a motivated Jack Eichel is one of the best centers in the business. He has the ability to take games over himself like panarin. Let’s not get it twisted. Depending on cost he would be a major asset for this team

I totally hear you and agree his talent is totally not in question. Just hoping that it happened like that and his play was due to the injury.

I think that Eichel's contract is one the Rangers cannot afford to add. If we were in a situation where this team was playing like the 2011 team that lost to the devils in the ECF, I'd say make the trade. Unfortunately I think we are 2-3 years away from that optimistically and at this point that trade sets us back. With that contract, we can't re-sign Zibby. Then we are back at square 1.

Gotta figure Buffalo is gonna give a new coach one more chance to work it out with the current roster. Be that through this season or maybe next. But then, unless there’s a big epiphany, they tear it down. Again. It’s a shame, actually. Good hockey town.

I think the contract will prove to be too restrictive. For better or worse, the Kreider contract really handcuffs this team going forward. Kreider and Trouba sporting NTC’s means Zibby prob has to go out in a seperate deal.

I’m not sure it’s worth when you combine the cap hit with the pieces you’d have to send back.

No.

Not to people who know hockey.

Really what did he win before St Louis? A world championship lol? I also love the assumption you know hockey and I dont, love it. There are more people who had hockey careers here than you think

The guys and girls that are always chasing a big name show a lack of overall hockey or team sport knowledge to me. It should be common sense but I see the appeal of a superstar to watch.

The Eichel love surprises me a bit though. He has been quite bad this year AND we have several superstars/ superstars in the making. Simple math shows that if we pay Eichel, we can’t pay our other gamebreakers in the future.

HARD PASS.

If you didn’t watch the team from ~1997-2007, maybe you don’t get it.

Not every winning player has won multiple championships. I have no doubt you know some things about hockey but do you know the Colorado double cross story? Do you know the inside story of what happened in Buffalo? Do you know the leadership situation in St. Louis before they won the Stanley Cup?

lol neither was Ryan O'Reilly
I was looking at the original ROR trade from Colorado. If we made the "same" offer (2013 first round draftee, 2013 second round draftee, 2012 first round draftee, 2015 2nd round pick) that would look like:
LOL no-one, we didn't have a 1st in 2013
LOL no-one, we didn't have a 2nd in 2013
Brady Skjei (2012 1st)
Ryan Gropp (2015 2nd)

It could maybe have been JT Miller, Brady Skjei, Dylan McIlrath, and a 2nd which I would have gladly made.
In the original trade, Colorado got Zadarov, Compher, Grigorenko, and the 2nd so long term hindsight, I think our package is a bigger haul. oh well.

Then how can you confidently say Jack Eichel isn't a winner then? People were singing the same song on here when OReilly said he lost interest in the game "not a winner" "doesnt want it bad enough" ....St Louis leadership was bad enough that they had the worst record in the league in January.

The guy was playing injured and demoralized and still put up almost a PPG. Eichel is an absolute stud game breaker. Watch any of his games last year. Depending on the COST anyone would be foolish to not want to add him to this team. It reminds me of the folks that didn’t want to sign Panarin who cost just cash. If you can role out 2 lines with Eichel on 1 and panarin on the other you have 2 elite game breakers who are a nightmare to deal with. 10 mill a year is not a bargain, but he isn’t overpaid either at the young age of 24.

How are we all feeling about these Jack Eichel rumors? Just curious to see where we all value him now or during the summer.

I'd imagine we all have similarities in who we'd call untouchables so I'll name them Kakko, Laf, Miller, Shesty, Panarin and Fox.
I'd rather sign Barkov as a UFA. I think we have a good chance.

My untouchable list is a little more extensive than others.

Lafreniere
Kakko
Fox
Shesterkin
Miller
Chytil

I wouldn't move any of them in a deal for Eichel.

Strome, Kravtsov, Lundkvist 1st in 2021
Moving Lundkvist is so scary. I'd love to see him first in the NHL. Imagine if (big if) he's at Fox level? Then I'd rather move Trouba when his NMC is up.

I'm 100% certain there's buyers by then, the cap shouldn't be flat by then.

Id rather roll out 4 very good lines. Thanks.
