What would you trade for Jack Eichel?

Eichel's cap hit means you lose one - if not more - of the young guys down the road because the team is simply out of cap to pay them what they deserve. Like Adam Fox is gonna get a big raise. Lindgren will need a decent raise. If all goes well Kakko and Laf will need big raises.

Thanks for the common sense post. Some guys here really don’t get it. “He’s really good, let’s get him” is the simpleminded thinking some people have. Hopefully they aren’t voting.

Your talking about things that are pretty far in the future hockey wise 3-5 years. Lindgren doesn’t put up a lot of points to warrant a hefty raise. And I highly doubt kreider and Trouba last their full contracts here

The more I see Lafreniere the less I believe the inevitable greatness of Eichel.

She it comes to defenseme. Points should hardly be the sole item you point to as to what necessitates a raise.

The view about Kreider & Trouba are at this point nothing but pure conjecture. For the foreseeable future, they are not going anywhere

Your right points aren’t the only important thing but history tells us the defensive guys that get the biggest coin put up around 30 or so points as well. I don’t agree with it but that’s usually how it goes. Lindgren will get a nice raise but nothing earth shattering.
As far as trouba and Kreids go. Richards, Nash, Shattenkirk, girardi, Staal, redden, etc there are more are all guys who signed long term deals that didn’t finish their contracts here in various ways. I’m just reading the tea leaves broski.

I get it. But Krieder is a completely different story. And Trouba is a good deal different as well; just look at the age.

Lindgren will get a well deserved raise. As well he should. He is becoming a legit #2, who will chip in with 30 or so points. That, coupled with shutdown ability, makes for a pretty good investment
