You're kidding, right? He's been just as bad as if not worse than anyone in front of him. Dude couldn't even stop a weak ass slapshot from Henrique unscreened from the circle.

Hank has been bad. End of story.

That was a good shot and the only reason he got it off was because of another defensive breakdown. Teams have been skating circle around the Rangers.

By no means is Hank on top of his game but the Rangers are a joke right now.

Like in North Korea, you should never ever blame the guy who is appointed to be The King. You never ever should question anything about his play. In case he lets in a goal, someone else is always responsible for it - and it's not debatable!

Both Renney and Torts played to slow games down. They had a goalie that played deep in net, and was an elite performer playing that way. Torts took that even further than just trapping, but employing that 6-goalie system.

Said goalie made save after save, and it was very tough for the other team to score and to make plays. So frustrating was this set up, that the Rangers under Torts never lost a game and won 87 in three years taking a lead into the third.

Now the goalie is facing higher quality chances, the slot is left wide open, and that's something that was once a maze of bodies and human traffic; guys come in with speed in transition. Henrik is forced to play more pucks, come out of his crease to make saves, and take direct shots from the slot.

All things combined with the smaller pads, more space behind the net, and contract issues. Possibility of moving, employment, affect on family, identity are all things that can affect a man. He's been superhuman for the team in the past, but he is still human.

All that said being who he is, and the competitor that he is I think Henrik Lundqvist will recover. Hopefully the team in front of him does too.

Who gives a **** if he got the shot off? It was A SLOW SLAPSHOT FROM THE CIRCLES UNSCREENED! Is this real life? You're even blaming that goal on other people than Hank? Dear Lord.

I love Hank and think he has been one of the top three goalies in the league year in, year out basically since he took over as the full-time starter. That said, there's no denying he has looked average at best to start the season. I highly doubt it will continue, but it has been disturbing nonetheless.

That slapper short side is definitely stoppable. And the rebound he let up on the 1st(?) goal was weak too.

Lundqvist will be fine once he adjusts to AVs defence system. It's been known for a long time that Vigneault has a defence system that's pretty complex, usually takes new defencemen about 6-8 weeks to get comfortable. Now, multiply that by 6 d-men and you have what's happening right now. But they'll be fine soon enough.

Offensively, I just don't know if Sather's given Vigneault the kind of firepower he needs to execute what he likes. A lot of our secondary scoring came from the defence, which again, you won't see until they become accustomed to the system. Garrison struggled here early on and then really started picking up his production as time went on.

The only thing I'd worry about is scoring enough goals right now to win games. Getting in a big hole early on isn't ideal, but you can right it with a good streak. A loss is a loss whether it's a 10 goal blowout or a 2-1 tight game. We got used to a blowout every month or so, mostly because our travel schedule included at least one WTF roadtrip a month.

The only thing I can say is you're team is likely doing the equivalent of taking a huge dump on the ice right now and getting it out of their systems. Pretty much what the Canucks did every October for the last 7 years. Heck, we're barely above .500 and it's considered our best start since Crawford was coach.

Panic once Decemeber sets in IF this is still happening and Sather hasn't made a move for some sort of scoring support.

Lundy to go?

I think it's absolutely pathetic that people want to trade Lundy. Everyone has completely taken him for granted. He is the best thing that has happened to this franchise since 94'.

The years when he started, everyone was in shock and awe as everyone should have been. He has been the freakin' rock of this team. Life has passed in front of our eyes the past couple of years and so has Lundy, we have all taken him for granted.

This team is in trouble for a couple of reasons and some bad trades, call them what you like but no way do you ship out Henrik. I can't believe people can even fathom this...

The guys need to get there hockey 101 back and play with some balls, they have showed no heart... lets get it going!

But don't think for one second that trading Lundy will yield a turn around for this team, you have to build the team around him. Enough with this stupid nonsense:help:

Who realistically wants to trade hank and in what universe is that going to help this team, just stop this panic is getting rediculous we have a new coach, and a new system, the defense looks like **** because of the new system their getting familiar too and hank has new pads/ a contract to worry about, some people are so impatient around here.

That slapper short side is definitely stoppable. And the rebound he let up on the 1st(?) goal was weak too.

For sure. I faulted him directly for two goals, faulted Dom Moore for one, and faulted both Hank and the defense for the other (split 50/50). It was a poor game by everyone but especially Hank.

Go where exactly?

He wants to win and he wants top dollar.

The Rangers will certainly be in the ballpark of top dollar. He could probably get a little more somewhere else but I doubt $$$ is going to be the tipping point.

Question is does he think the Rangers window has passed? The team looks like dog$hit right now. They cant seem to do anything right AND he has to play with new smaller pads which is likely an adjustment.

Tom Renny > Torts > AV Two regimes and no cup and the AV era is off to a shaky start in the Kings contract year.

If it was up to me, I'd sign this guy TODAY. Maybe Sather wants to see if he can be THE KING with smaller pads?

Maybe Henke wants to see what FREE AGENCY is like. The NHL would sure like him in the mix on July 1st. He'd be the buzz.

NYR trading him is very unlikely unless he confesses he has no desire to re-sign...which is unlikely.

So who would have cap room to sign Henke to close to max contract + have all pieces in place to run at the cup?

Exactly. There's little-to-no chance this continues long term. I would be floored if it did. That's why I'm not ready to give up on the season like some seem to be. We'd have to have Hank play like this all year to not be in the hunt for the playoffs. That will not happen.

I give a **** that he got the shot off. We had two defenders back and they managed to **** it up so bad that Jersey ended up with a wide open shot. It wasn't a slow shot...

Was it stoppable, it was but it was far from a routine save. So the Rangers lose 3-0 instead of 4-0 if he stops that?

You think it's a coincidence that both Hank and Biron look/looked like hot garbage?

I love how everyone is dissecting the way he plays now after watching him play for 8 years.

"Rebound Control". Hank pushed all the low stuff to the corners because... It's really difficult to contel rebounds with your leg pads. Those don't come with baseball gloves attached to them.

I also read about how he plays "ass deep". It's kind of worked for him in the past.

The Rangers are probably the worst team in the league from an x's and o's standpoint. They might as well go fix that first.

Oh, and when there's two Rangers in front of the net, they should probably try to defend their man instead of watching the guy right next to them clean up a rebound.

Dear Lord. It was a 1) slow shot, 2) from the circles, and 3) was unscreened. Far from a routine save? You have to be kidding. There is defending Hank and there is outright revisionist history. This is just willful ignorance on your part.

Since when are slap shots from the dot an easy save?

Revisionist history?

Here's the replay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSGntagUXfo

You can pause between 4 and 6 seconds and watch Girardi do nothing. Staal tries to help but it's not even close.

You can call it a slow shot all your want, Henrique is skating full speed a picks a corner with a slap shot.

Teams try really hard to set up shots from that close on a power play. It's not like it's a bad place to shoot from.

Since when are slap shots from the dot an easy save?

Unscreened slapshots from the circles, especially from that angle, are easy saves for NHL goalies. So the answer to your question is "always."

You are clearly irrational so we may as well end this discussion here if you can't even admit that that was a terrible goal he let him.

Henrique was moving at top speed. Not only did he shoot that puck hard, he shot it accurately.

Stamkos and other big power play scorers live from that spot. The only difference, they don't get a running head start.

The fact that Henrique's goal has become a reason to rip on Hank just goes to show you how irrational the fans have become.

I wonder what these boards would look like if he let up a goal like the one Quick gave up against the Rangers.

Put it better than I could have. Injuries piling on top of each certainly doesn't help either. People around here seem to have no patience and don't realize the season is a marathon, not a sprint. This isn't the NFL.

Sather needs to explore his trade value before his contract gets too close to the end. He's not re-signing, lets face it

Sather needs to be fired, and not do anything else esp trade the best player on this team. Jesus the team sucks not him.

With the product on the ice I don't care if its 1000 games they are going nowhere. If your are going to think Richards is going to be leading the team in points and they are going anywhere its laughable they will be dead last. Nash cannot do it alone they need to bring in young players and they need to be effective. They need to replace useless guys like D moore, Pouliot, Dorset with young players that can be effective or else forget it.

Hank is thinking too much about his next contract and modeling career.

Hank has been bad. End of story.

I can't even begin to understand how wrong that statement is. A weak slapshot? Henrique absolutely BLASTED that shot.

Could Hank have stopped it? Yes. But, that was by no means a soft goal. Sometimes you need to give credit to the other team/player for making a good play.
