I don't think Yak's as big of a diva as Oilers media make him out to be.

And if not as not as if the Leafs would have anything to lose by picking him up

Diva? No. Bone head? Absolutely. It's his stupid on ice decisions that will get him benched.

To be fair - lots of players have managed to rebound after getting away from the Oulers.

Ie Dubnyk, Marinčin

I'll give you Dubnyk add Reider and the list ends there.

The only thing that gives Yakupov any value is his draft position. And that value is mostly for oiler fans.

Reider never even played a game for the Oilers...only thing that associated him to the Oilers is his draft.

He was developed by the Coyotes.

He had a better sv% than Talbot last season....

Talbot 0.917 sv%
Dubnyk 0.918 sv%

Keep in mind the vast difference in the 2 teams that they played on last year....

Yak couldn't even warrant a third, according to Dreger. Chiarelli tried at the deadline and this summer. Might only get a 4th at this stage if he's traded, or the equivalent.

Best go read again . All it was was speculation on his part . Chia stated he was not trying to trade him as he did not request a trade and he was not going by rumours posted by his agent

I think its far more character saving to say that he wasn't looking to trade, than saying he was looking to trade and couldn't even get a third rounder.

I'd be shocked if Yakupov ever finds success in the league.

He may be the dumbest player on skates i've ever seen.

Petry gilbert. Shultz might end up rebounding. Ummm pitkanen was good for the canes until his body broke down. Souray had a couple good years after being banished to the minors

Petry was just fine here, but our dumbass of a GM decided not to sign him for whatever reason.

I'd take him for sure. So basically if TO passes, which they might because they already have a lot of young talented forwards

Yakupov may not have much value anymore but I,m pretty sure he is worth a shot for another team in a change of scenery type of thing. See : Daniel Briere as an exemple

If he bust with his 2nd team then he's done in the NHL without a doubt

Is there such a thing as a #5/6 PPQB?

I mean even MAB was a #3/4 for most his career and he was basically only a PPQB.

James Wisniewski. And the Oilers should already be looking to bring him in...

I wouldn't put Gilbert on that list - he had that one good year when he played on the top pair with Campbell in Florida, but that's about it. I was going to add Cogliano, but the numbers indicate he's virtually the same player in Anaheim that he was in EDM (except for the improved +/- and finally topping 20 goals in a season).

Plenty of chatter on HF Oil right now after media guys in Edmonton yesterday apparently said they wouldn't be all that surprised if Yakupov is waived.

He is being outplayed in Edmonton's camp.

What teams out there would have time for him as a 2.5m experiment?

Any team that could fit him. This is a dumb, dumb question.

I'd take him if I were the Leafs.

Very, very questionable hockey IQ, but he's a kid who has had a bit of success in this league and might possibly find some more in a different situation. Not to mention there's almost zero risk.

No way the Leafs would want another winger as that management group can clearly see the excess(they probably lose one on waivers themselves) there already, so he'd get past them for sure.
He might make it to Carolina.

Reverse order of finish-- Leafs, then the Canucks, Jackets and Flames on waiver-eligible players...Jackets are only one of the four I could see taking a flyer on him.

I doubt there isn't a single team that wants to get their hands on Yakupov. The upside is way too high for someone not to take a chance on him. Even if you consider the 2.5million to be too "too much" he's an RFA in 2017-2018 and could likely be signed for much less in arbitration. $2.1million is a small price to pay for a former first overall. He has value... not much... but it's there.

Yak wouldn't make it past the Nucks on the waiver wire (2nd priority). Probably wouldn't make it past the Leafs TBH

Nucks are pretty desperate for another top 6 winger.

I would keep cogs on the list he converted himself into a solid 3rd line winger. Producing about the same as a 2nd line powerplay ozone start guy.

kid line got crazy easy minutes. Cogs was a loss for sure.

Unless a real ducks fan doesn't like him I'll take their opinion if he's decent
