What should LA do at the deadline?

I'm shocked that so many people here oppose trading for him. He is a right shot forward, with decent skill and some grit. The Kings could use all three of those things in the lineup. He is also signed long-term at a reasonable cap hit. People afraid of trading Vilardi, Kupari or Turcotte, this is the type of player Turcotte and Kupari probably top out at in the NHL.

His last 3 years in the NHL 48G, 63A, 111Pts, +9 in 176 games on pretty bad teams. That is a 52 point pace.

This gives you some roster flexibility, he can play on any of the lines. He is a better player than all the guys on our 3rd line and at this point probably Iafallo too.

?? - Kopitar - Kempe
Moore- Danault - Arvy
?? - ?? -??
Lemieux - Lizotte - Kaliyev

Garland, Iafallo, Vilardi, QB, Kupari can fill the question mark spots.

I don't think anyone is opposed, but what's the price?

What's up with Debrusk? Signed an extension now wants out and is available? I'd take him over Garland for sure. straight up swap for Iafollo and a low pick? same type stats, and 3 years younger.

Any of the disappointing 1st round forwards other than Byfield, 1st round pick, one of the excess right shot defenders in the system. Any of those things could be involved in potential trades for Garlund.

And there has been objection to trading for him, no matter how bad they all look many still seem committed to forcing young players into the lineup over bringing in vets from other teams. The Kings are very likely to be in the playoffs despite getting nothing from any of our highly drafted forwards, at this point we are being overly optimistic if we think that changes between now and the start of the playoffs. This team could be a tough out if they get healthy on D and get a competent 3rd line.

Come on KH24, don't "/" like they are similar. One would be a hell of an addition for the Kings, one would be an addition for the Reign.
Yes BUT ... both would make me happy.

The Troy Stetcher deal made me sad as he brings nothing new to the table; would've rather done what Hextall did bringing in Beaulieu and addressing the left side/lack of toughness.

Yeah I didn't really like it either, would have preferred someone tougher. They are just looking for warm bodies I think, especially with Anderson now on LTIR. I'm thinking they don't want a kid sitting as the 7th d-man, so that will be Stetcher's role. I hope he doesn't see much game action.

I think that's the point. If they're disappointing to us, they're disappointing to others as well. Those other teams might still take them on, but we're not getting dollar-for-dollar value on guys like Kupari and GV. Vancouver sent out the 9th overall pick to get Garland, they're going to want something close value wise to deal him this soon after the trade.

Vancouver probably also expected to contend, and now they are rebuilding and selling. They are going to take a hit by moving him, player values are very fluid, he was coming off a 65 point type season last year at 24/25 and is now on pace for 45 at age 25/26. His value is simply not worth a #9 overall pick anymore. The Kings 1st round pick (around #20), Turcotte and Grans are probably about similar value wise on the open trade market and I think moving any of these for Garland benefits both teams greatly. Vancouver would probably be asking for Faber because him and Hughes would be a match made in heaven as a D-pairing but I would only move him in a potential deal for Boeser, not Garland.

For those that keep hoping the Kings trade Kopi - it isn’t going to happen. He might lost a step, but he’s a player that I trust to get the puck out of our zone. Is he paid too much, yes but that was the cost of winning two Cups. He will be in the HOF and his jersey retired in LA. He is still a good player, no need to trade him for peanuts.

Blake needs to be fired if he trades for Petry. He's 34, signed for three seasons after this one, a RD, and has been awful most of this year. Unless we're picking up an asset as a cap broker to another team, no thank you.

I'd bet it's just desperate Twitter folks trying to drum up smoke.

is there anyone out there that thought this was a remote possibility?
