McCann is playing center, so Kempe should get slightly less.

Also, Kempe's S% is 14.9% against a career average of 11.3%. Meaning his goal scoring rate doesn't look like a huge outlier.

When Karlssson scored 44 goals, his S% was 23.4% against a career average of 13.2%, meaning his scoring clearly wasn't sustainable.

Kempe won't take less than $5M unless the deal takes straight to UFA.

How possibly can a player be on line 1 and #1 PP at this time of the year and have 0 goals, 2 assists in his last 18 games?
Its beyond a slump...it's almost 1/4 of a season.
Since Todd or Sturm will not address the problem, I hope Rob does and trades him. You have 45 hours to do it. Please.

Bad time to trade him.
Low production. Lots of time left on the deal.
Was weird, because Kempe was lighting it up for the first 7-8 games of this slump and Iafalo was getting no points.

AI doesn't bring much to the table playing wise. He's a below average forward. Could use a lot more skill and LA needs more skill in their top 6. To me he's just wasting a space. Trade him and retain 500k.

This summer you're losing:
Dustin Brown - $5.9M
Andreas Athanasiou - $2.7M
Alexander Edler - $3,5<
Olli Maatta $3,3M


The only big raises due next year are Kempe and Durzi.
AA's salary covers most of Kempe.
Maybe Durzi gets 3x2.2 or something. So that's a $1.4M raise.
That leaves what? About $10M for free agency to replace Maatta/Brown/Edler/AA

Brown/AA are likely replaced within the organization.

How do you know they're parting ways with these players? Rob loves Brown. AA has shown that he's a clutch top 9 forward. Edler came up huge earlier in the season and Maata is a big defenseman that has found his game. Who do you cut and who do you keep?

I think it's pretty obvious that AA's gone (healthy scratch for 3-4 games two weeks ago) and that Brown is done. If Brown is back, it's for $1M-$1.75M.
At some point, you have to make room. Vilardi will be a winger. Andersson should have a regular role.
There;s two spots.

Advanced stats wise...
Iafallo is 4th among forwards in CF%
His GA/60 is 6th best among Kings forwards.
His GF/60 is 8th
His GF% is 53.45 -8th. Very solid.
His goals/60 points/60 are mid-range
Among the best in takeaways and giveaways.

We've seen Iafallo's point's/60 fall for 2 straight years
1.71 to 1.63 to 1.45.
1.45 is basically 3rd line stuff.

His CF% is a career-best.
His GF% is second best.

In terms of WOWY numbers...

Kempe 418 minutes 4-9-13
Kopitar 400 minutes 2-6-8
Danault 342 minutes 7-5-12
Arvidsson 137 minutes 3-0-3
AA 99 minutes 1-2-3

Everyone seems to love playing with Danault this year, who has been the Kings' best forward I think.
 
If Kempe gets less than $5 per year, it's on a take me to UFA type deal. I still say it'll be something like 6x6
 
watched first 2 periods of Nucks v Flames...hope they stay clear of Garland. was minus 3 in the 4-0 Flames lead. I think he's just a slightly better Lizotte that can score a few, but please, if the Kings are buyers, get someone better than Garland and with some size.

I recall the day Wayne was acquired....a co-worker that knew I was a big King fan told me, did you hear the Kings got Gretzky? I laughed. He said, go find the news...I freaked and ran outside to my car. I could have got into trouble (leaving a studio position) I then turned on a radio KFWB sports update (hey, it was 1988) and was shocked. Yes, they gave up Carson and 3 firsts and I was bummed by that....but changed LA hockey forever.

I'm ready for the org to again have a loftier vision and call the Hawks about Kane...call Nashville about Forsberg. We're not talking Gretzky, but
have a bigger vision and see what's possible. Danault and Arvidsson was a step. Go a step higher. Do what your commercial ad stated 'we are LA and we are all Kings'.

DL and Sutter did their thing, but that was 8 and 10 years ago. Don't get Conor Garland. Go bigger.

Yeah, I think we're past the 'good metrics' guys we can moneyball. Danault is amazing. Arvy is great. Don't count on finding him again in Garland.

We need some SERIOUS punch, like Kane or Debrincat or Forsberg. Maybe not at this deadline, because we're f***ed anyway. But going forward something has to change.

I still hope we trade for JT Miller. He’s like a more offensive Danault. He’s a guy I’d love to have lead this team.

So, here's my brief history of Kings fandom...I got into hockey and the Kings in the 93-94 season (yeah, just missing the epic SCF run)...I quickly became hooked, addicted, you name it. From there on out, all I dreamed about was to see the Kings in a playoff game...so do the math, only took like 5 years to see one...only for them to get swept in 1st round (98). Then, they miss the next season, make it back in 00, and get swept again! LOL, took 6-7 years to witness my first Kings playoff win. That was a rough ride, but I learned to appreciate when things are good...like this season.

Similar to mine! Moved to Canada from Portugal in 94. Fell in love with hockey, Gretzky was on the kings, they had those beautiful jerseys, and Bobs your uncle. The palffy-allison-deadmarsh 01 kings cemented my loyalty to them. The only move that needs to be made is bringing back the shield, purple black/white jerseys and retire these boring sweaters(then those will be bland in 10 years) They need a new identity/culture for the kids sake, this is no longer the +1000 games of Kopi, Drew, Brown, and Quicks teams. They arent built like the 2008-2018 kings(slow, hard hitting, tough to play against) and they definitely don't have the same type of roster.
