What should LA do at the deadline?

I lose my mind when Kings fans talk about the 2012 team like they were an aberration. They underperformed so badly that they got their coach fired. They were thought to be one of the teams on the rise before the season started and were expected to make noise. Once they hired Sutter, they were one of the top teams in the league and one of the highest scoring ones. This team is closer to the 2010-2011 team. Unfortunately, it's the 30+ Anze and Drew and Jonathan that are still leading the team and not the early 20's versions of them..
True.. sad but true. But there is enough talent to ride a streak, it’s just very unlikely

I know this won't be a popular opinion, but if I could get a young skilled forward that has already been properly developed for Roy I'd do it. I don't know who that would be, but the Kings are overloaded at RD that are ready or close to ready and still desperately need offensive skilled players for the rebuild. It would have to be someone pretty good from a contender, but I'd explore it. I doubt it happens now with the team in the hunt, but I wonder if the Kings had 10 less points if it's something Blake would have considered.

I Don't know about for Roy but generally speaking I think Blake has to treat the deadline like the boldfaced.

Even with Edler back - Id like Blake to sacrifice maybe 1 or 2 3rd round picks for an LD rental - just someone with a pulse.. MAnderson looks like several weeks away.. and seeing Maata as the top pair LD is causing me anxiety. Soucy is not a rental - signed next year as well.

The way these early TDL trades are going, 1 or 2 third round picks might get you someone with a pulse.

I'd move Kempe. His new contract is going to be expensive & the team will be capped & not have what it needs to be successful. Use the money on another legit C like Danault. Move Kopi to Kempe's spot. Otherwise you're just waiting until the prospects develop to do anything.

Do i get it right, that you want to give away the 26 year old winger who enters the prime and move the 34 year old center who never played winger to the open winger position?

Kempe is the only one who showed improvement in scoring goals, this is the last player we should trade away.
But with that said, he is still not proven 30 goal scorer, if he looks north of the 5.5 mill i would agree to trade him.
And while we are at it, Iafallo should have to go too, giving him 4 mill was a bad example for the team.
Just being best buddy with the no future players shouldn't earn you a high paying contract

Bertuzzi would be awesome. 24 goals, 24 assists. 10 PP points. 5 GWG. 19% shooting %. 27 yrs old to fit with the core that age range.
Closest thing to a power forward the Kings would have. signed one more yr at 4.75. I would deal Iafallo and #1
Maybe they're not too giddy about the not playing in Canada. Detroit is on a 3 game swing right now in Canada.

Hope this is not a problem to post - the Kings could seek out celbrities / politicians that have taken batch 001, that is saline and get that
for him.

Bertuzzi would be awesome. But 3 games of 18 remaining post deadline, and potentially half a first round series, could be in Canada. That is going to irritate the piss out of me.

We trade off the roster for him, we weaken ourselves. We trade futures, his cost could sting. I dunno.

Think of him like an injured player. You're going in eyes open that he won't be able to play a bunch of games in the near term, but that some point he will be back to a full schedule (assuming Covid requirements are lifted or he has a come to JesusDarwin moment).

And I’m there for that conversation as well. I would just expect the price to reflect the reality of his status this year.

Kopi options: With a rookie that needs sheltered minutes at 3C, Kopi needs to shoulder quite a bit of responsibility. He is having issues, see the Gatorade incident. If the Kings are looking to add a high profile player like a Forsberg, they may be better off just adding a center.

You could put Kopi with Byfield & Vilardi, but Vilardi & Kopi are both slow & line speed would be an issue.

The best fix is to slide Kopi to wing like Carter. Less defensive pressure & he is great at mucking it up on the boards & loves the half wall on the PP anyway.

Don't worry, after seeing how Brown was handled I'm sure we'll just ride Kopi out at C.

Kempe, it may be time to trade him. How comfortable is everyone signing him to term after this scoring drought? He was creating multiple high danger chances per game & that evaporated.

Kings are fairly tight on cap & don't have many places to cut. If the choice is between 5.5M Kempe & 8M Hertl, where is the money better spent? Are the Kings going for 3-4 lines of depth or are they looking for a high profile sniper?

If you need to cut cap there are other players they could move before Kempe. Hes one of their best players. Roy and Iafallo equal over 7 million and Kempe is a better player with a skillset not easily replaced within the organization.

Bertuzzi is a UFA after next season.

So it doesn't make much sense spending significant assets on him unless the plan is to re-sign him, but players of his ilk usually don't age well.

If Yzerman is looking to move him it's probably because he doesn't think he'll be worth his next contract.

Absolutely agree

Iafallo's signing is turning into a headache well predicted by some. He is just not worth 4 mill
AA can do the Iafallo stuff and more for way cheaper.
Roy can also be easily replaced by what we already have.

I would trade Iafallo and sign AA instead to 2 mill.
With those ridiculous and unrealistic asking prices these days we might even ask for three 1st rounders

Given the chance, Lias is better than : AI, AA, MF, CG, BL but this will not be found out, until he goes somewhere else and gets that chance. Too late.

Sucks for you, Sucks.

2014 broke you.

this wouldn't be a deadline deal and is a huge reach but...

I saw something about Buffalo having interest in Faber to pair with Power. Do the kings have the assets to flip that, could we put a package together to get Power?

Send the hometown boy back in Iafallo, a first, some sort of combo of Roy/Walker + Grans/Spence and a forward prospect? Hell, I probably wouldn't have any issue sending two firsts. I rather blow them on someone like Power than whoever we may get fleeced for at the TDL
