What should LA do at the deadline?

If Nucks are really blowing it up, I’d like to see the Kings try for Pettersson (he can play wing )

My first choice is Brady Tkachuk but that seems like a pipe dream considering they just made him captain.

Flames also have some nice pieces who will be UFA but I don’t see them taking the risk as they have a chance at the cup this year.

Any thoughts about calling the Ucks to see what they want for Deslauriers? Could be useful in the playoffs in case we run into someone like MacD or another tough guy. Not sure If a 3rd will do it.

This thread definitely needs a thumb down option for some of these posts. Best one was calling the season a disaster if team doesn't get in the playoff, its a goal, not a must. Team has been struck with injuries and the kids are overachievering to say the lease.

Show me where ownership or Blake says it's a disaster if the Kings don't make the playoffs?Blake had said it was a goal not a organizational must do or die.Blakes job like Todd's is safe.
Are you mixing me with somebody else? I have never said: ownership or Blake says it's a disaster if the Kings don't make the playoffs

What is this weird mindset out there, that "you don't add THE PIECE, unless you're ready to compete for the Cup'. That's ludicrous and wimpology.
...if the piece is a rental, that's one thing, but you add key pieces when and if you can, period.

And may you share who you have in mind and what this player would bring to the kings we don't already have?

Here's a good thread:

'Let's revamp the Leafs Blueline' Who wants to play and offer Durzi for their 2022 #1 and Nick Robertson?

What should the Kings do at the DEADLINE?
Um...replace the Kopitar DEADLINE?

No, Kopitar did not play the last 9 games.
Kopitar last 9 games: 0 goals 1 assist -3
Iafailure last 16 games 0 goals 2 assists
Kempe last 10 games 0 goals 0 assists 0 points 0 heart

Given the number of injuries we should do nothing unless someone comes in with an overpayment for one of our guys. There is going to be little or no payoff bringing in someone right now unless it is a long terms target that will be here for years. Any such targets are going to be better value in the off season so if we can delay until then we should.

I'd be quite prepared to let Iaffallo go if the offer was good enough. That's not a slight on him in any way but it is a numbers game up front and we could do with creating a little more space at wing either for a prospect or to bring in more scoring help from the outside. As the TDL is where over payment is most likely to happen I would let him go now if the price was right. Arvidsson and Kempe fill the same positions on the team in terms of age and importance and they are generally more of a scoring threat, so Iafallo is the odd guy out for me especially with Kempe due a big raise (although not as big as it was looking 10 games ago). If we could include him as a piece in a sign and trade deal for someone like Forsberg then that is the type of deal I'd be happy with right now.

The injuries really muddy the waters as we have so many inexperienced plays in roles they are not ready for, so it makes getting into the play-offs such a difficult ask. Much depends on the inside understanding on how long these guys will be out for.

Anaheim would want more than that especially trading him to us.

Just move a future consideration for Clifford.

Why do 90% of all defensemen called up from the Reign, have success and only 10% (Kaliyev) forwards called up from the Reign have impact-level-success?

Part of it is that the defensemen are playing and integrating immediately and get regular shifts...and the forwards are brought in to play 8 minutes on line 4 and never get to play a larger role, than checking, grinding. (some on line 3, which is even worse, honestly. At times, go 8 minutes without a shift) and never get to play a larger role, than checking, grinding. If they make a mistake or 2, they are scratched. Good luck, ever getting a sniff of PP time. If the defensemen make mistakes, they are still playing the next shift.

Screw the future. I say we get the band back together. Trade for all the guy that were on the 2014 Cup-winning team and force the other ones to come back out of retirement. I'm sure Regehr could still destroy people. Might be hard to get Voynov out of Russia, though...

I know it’s hard for you, but Clifford doesn’t cut it as an NHL player anymore. If Blake traded for him he should be fired on the spot.
I disagree. I've literally watched every, if not almost every game he's played in since being moved to Toronto/St. Louis. He's the same player he was his last few seasons as a King.

Last year in St. Louis he was on pace for his normal 12-16 point self on the 4th line. If you ask Toronto fans they prefer him in the line-up over Simmonds. It's not his fault he gets benched. Look at Nick Ritchie; people called him a washed up AHL'er then puts up 5 goals in 9 games and a near point per game in Arizona. Toronto just doesn't know how to play grit guys and will complain about being too soft all the time.

It would be silly to give up assets for someone like Deslauriers when Clifford is the same exact player but would cost literally nothing to obtain.

Also:

Brown is the same player he was in 2014

Quick is the same player he was in 2014
