Also I used to post a lot on prospects but there hasn't been an exciting Finnish prospect in a while.. Kakko was the last one I think I remember following a lot.

I would want to read things here but based on my previous experience (especially with Canadians on GDT's, sorry) I just don't want to go and read them. Finns on this board mostly are great, but there is a guy who makes my head hurt so because of him I just avoid the whole board sometimes lol.

That's another problem.. lost to Czechs, day off and then 2 slaughters. Not very exciting to be a Canada fan right now. Swede game will be a nice jolt and then quarters, Semis and gold game.

Kiviharju is not built for men's game yet so we'll need to wait a bit longer before seeing him in Liiga more often.. so looking forward to that.

He didn't go to a Skoda Cup after Nagano!!!! I did the math.. 6 golds and 6 different goalies.. respect our run because it was legendary.

Only 3 countries have won gold in 10 years.. US, Canada and Finland. That's it! NO ONE has won back to back in a decade.

Also, for those that thing a Bedard or Michkov are a Gold guarantee.. Forsberg got 31 points in one tourney and didn't win a gold as a 19 year old. It's a team game filled with parity.

Because I'm a fair guy.... here are Russia's last TEN tournaments. ONE gold 10 tourneys ago. 9 in a row without a Gold. Last best on best was the 80's. Lots of medals but no golds. I still think they were robbed by the TSN camera! I have no skin in the game but that just felt so wrong.

I couldn't give less of a shit about Hockey Canada's scandals, and even I'm losing interest. Canada has played 1 meaningful game (and lost), while USA's games have all been in the afternoon. Losing a contender like Russia and replacing them with yet another cannon fodder team doesn't help either.

This tournament has underscored how uncompetitive and really uninteresting a lot of international hockey is-especially with Russia absent. I appreciate the Czechs and Slovaks rebounding but overall it's not very riveting.

Poor competition and no Leafs prospects in the tourney has certainly played a part around my parts.

Nobody wants to watch Canada win 11-2 and be fellated non stop by TSN anymore. They lost the sauce a while ago and went way too overboard on the homerism.

I'm not saying especially riveting necessarily, but lively and hot. Like tons of posts and fans. The game threads could really be intense - and, true enough, maybe not that high quality always, but to see a game thread of USA vs Switzerland not even getting one page full of posts is surely not ideal?

It's been a pretty compelling tournament so far. A number of upsets early. Going in, I think it would be fair to say that Canada and the USA were the clear favourites. I don't think it's the clear anymore. Sweden, Finland, Czechia and Slovakia are in with a shot at a medal. Any could make the gold medal game imo.

Attendance at both venues has been really good. Halifax/Moncton have done a really good job putting together a shared event in a short period of time. It's been 20 years since Halifax hosted. Combined with Moncton, I think they've earned the chance to be part of as regular a rotation as possible.

It will be nice to see a non-covid rotation again. No doubt. As a Canadian, I enjoy seeing tournaments in other parts of the world.

No team Russia does remove a compelling group of players, but I don't feel like that detracts from the buzz in the other countries. When the NHL wasn't part of the Olympics it didn't impact the buzz outside of North America. No Russians doesn't take away from my experience. If anything, their absence opens the door for other countries and those countries are using that chance to invest in U20 hockey and it's showing on the ice.

10 years and no back to back champ. That is parity. It is NO ONES game. But, Canada is the fav for a back to back here. That is a huge storyline here.

Huge storyline is bench clearing brawl like it was in 87 or 4 goals 3rd period comeback like in 2011 or Eberle saving Canada in the game they had no busi3to be in.
