Player Discussion What do we have in J.T. Miller?

Probably not but if this is what you think then power to you.
You're saying that any of a number of aging, mediocre players who had all been in decline before Benning was hired could have returned a 1st but didn't because of the effect on their performance wrought by the atmosphere of the team after Benning was hired. You know this isn't a reasonable belief.

You guys are hilarious when you judge a transaction without putting in any context.

JT Miller is a direct result of the EP40 effect just like Alex Burrows was a direct result of the Sedins effect.

We got our replacement Hank now. Our center depth is solidified. Any body that was already a decent winger will be that much better having EP40 feeding them.

You can get better the easier way or you can get better the hard way. Bo got better the hard way. I don’t begrudge Canuck management for trading our future for JT Miller if it makes EP40’s life today easier and more productive. Hockey is a 3 person line and my feelings aside of how ownership has butchered the essence of Canucks hockey, are we not entitled to entertaining hockey again?

It is what it is. EP40 is a growing boy and needs to eat (score) to get better and we should utilize our current resources as best as we can to facilitate that.

Exactly. The context is that you have Bo and Petey down the middle and need talented wingers to play with them.

Just like how the context was when we traded for tunnel vision Brandon Balls of Steel Sutter right?

IE. Bubye 2C. Hello pouty Vrbata.

Over 55 points twice in his career.

Scored at over a 50 point pace last season but missed time with injury and came up just short.

Correct. His 3 seasons before the trade were: 56 pts (82 gp), 58 pts (82 gp), 47 pt (75 gp - 51/82 gp pace).

Over those three seasons, Miller was 74th in the NHL in points scored, and 103rd in P/GP (minimum 100 GP).

Strong history of scoring +50 points once.

I see you're so hasty to make the trade look bad that you didn't bother reading his stat sheet correctly. Did you honestly think that Miller had a 63 game season where he scored 40 points followed by a 19 game season where he scored 18 points? Did you even know he was traded?

Do you do even an ounce of research before spewing opinions out of your backside?

Wasn't there a rumour during the off season that EP asked the management for a better LW? Like even if isn’t true, imagine if you are EP returning for your second season and see a another unproven tweener on your LW again

17th in league scoring now is what we have in Miller and I'm very surprised as wasn't happy with trade. However I'm sold now and wow how has he gelled with Pettersson and Boeser and that PP with Horvat and Hughes :D:D:D:thumbu:.

He wasn't happy because he had bought a home in Tampa and was expecting to settle in to a life there, only to be told shortly after signing a brand new deal that he was being sent to the opposite end of the continent.

Just stop, you keep digging yourself into a hole and right now you are half way to China.

Yikes guys...

I made a mistake with his stat line. Thanks to @Hoghandler for catching that and correcting me.

The impact he's had on the team is obvious and immediate. Anything other than a lottery pick and this trade was well worth it even at the price paid. Any player the team would have drafted would have taken years to develop into the player Miller is right now. If ever.

Miller is exactly what this team needed and is in the prime of his career signed to a ridiculously cap friendly contract with term. This is the type of trade that people look back on and say it helped the team take that next step. I was cautiously optimistic when the trade was announced but now I'm more than satisfied.

Hopefully he's happy in Vancouver and stays here forseeable future. Has been a welcome addition for sure!!

He's one of those guys that you're always relieved to see get the puck, you know he's going to make the smart play with it.

He brings a veteran presence to a very young top 6, and he's still only 26 himself.

Ya and it always looks like he's hustling out there with very powerful stop and goes.

I like Miller a lot but this is a pretty strange thing to say about a player whose poor decisions has been the root cause of several goals against recently.
