What do isles fans drive?

My friend bought a Cadillac Blackwing. I have another friend who has a 797hp Challenger, so interested to see how the 600hp Blackwing (or whatever crazy # it has) compares.

Woof.

The Challenger has significant HP advantage but both are large V8 with forced induction. Challenger is that death auto tranny and the Caddy has the manual.

Both RWD.

The Challenger is a beast. A lot of thinking to be done so you keep the car on the road. Even with All Season tires, the Challenger is downright dangerous. The Caddy, with Summer tires and manual, is the refined Challenger, with much nicer interior. Power, just as smile inducing, is way more refined and smooth. It'll burn em all day in first, back end just a little wiggly in second on a straight away and you can rip through all 6 fwd gears with a smile which never ends. NICE interior. Nice easy clutch and nice gearbox. This Honda driver giving props to a manual, doesnt happen often. GM, Im amazed to say, hit it it out of the park on this one. If you can grab a test drive, I highly recommend. If you have the bankroll, I'd also recommend.

Both are ~$90k so Ill never own either, but given the choice, it would be Caddy hands down. What a beautiful machine.

I've always loved manual transmission sport sedans - there's something very cool about a larger sedan with a MT. I test drove a Chevy SS once but ended up getting a used MT Acura TL because I needed something with AWD and it was cheaper. The Chevy had an MT and a Corvette V8 - cool sleeper but not practical at the time. That Caddy is nice. :)
 
I'm not generally a huge fan of the blackout look, but in this case I'd make an exception. Drool.

I wanna know who here on LI drives a pickup truck, and doesnt actually use/need one?

Cuz I'm driving around and I'd swear that 70% of these toolbags have no use for them whatsoever.

Bones, save your money for the new Prelude - it's happening. :naughty:

I also see that Toyota is doing a new MR2 and/or Celica. But if the info that I saw is correct, they're going to be pricey (which kind of runs counter to the original cars).

I drove a Celica back in the day. Would love to see that car make a comeback.

Prelude wont have manual--- so Im out altogether.
 
I’ve got a lease on a ‘23 Kia K5 GT and I hardly drive it.

Not the cars fault, it’s fun AF but in 1.7 years i haven’t even put 7k miles on her. Think I might need to buy it off the lease and then trade.

I want electric but I will miss the hum of the exhaust too much. What to do what to do….

If you consider cars an appliance, then yes -- EV's are the "future" -- otherwise.......

LOL. I've driven nothing but manual transmissions since 1979, and when a hybrid or EV is in front of me on the road I comment that they need to "get that effing Vitamix out of my way".

I test drove the new Tesla Model 3 dual moter AWD, and it's an amazing vehicle - definitely the future. You hit the "gas" hard and get that slightly sick feeling in your gut like on a rollercoaster. And they really sorted out the handling, fit and finish, etc..

Both things can be true. ;)

I dunno about that -- I drove a Tesla two years ago--- -- fast, yes.. but such a bizarre driving experience. Almost like a video game or something. And your car is controlled by an ipad and the interior was boring.

They are just soulless for me.

I get that. But hey, they can't be all bad. Nothing sends a pickup truck driver into irrational anger more than a Tesla. :laugh:

All I know is I spent one summer helping my neighbor out with his bouncy castle side business and everytime we saw a Camaro IROC he make ass comment that IROC stood for “Italian “Reject” Out Crusin’” although he used a different “r” word.
 
Traded in my 18 GS for a 24 Lexus LC500. I hate that they stopped making the GS, I've never been a big ES fan and the LS is a too big without the semi-sport part of it.

May be my last new Lexus, as I will not be buying any sort of EV. As someone who's been partial to Lexus for years, and Japanese by in large for most of my driving experience, unfortunately in the future I'll be limited to companies with ICE vehicles.

No matter what, I don't think I'll be getting rid of this. Not that many Lexus' are Barret Jackson type collector cars, but it may the the last NA V8 Lexus with no electric power at all.
