I've had this car for at least 5 months now and I haven't seen a another one on the road. I get a lot of people glancing at the car and I can't tell if they are admirers or gawkers. I sold a red Toyota FRS on Carvana for exactly what I paid for it 8 years earlier. Used car prices were insane. So in the end I only paid about 10K for an LT2 model and GM paid to install the level 2 charger. Meanwhile this car has won US News and World Report, Electrek, and Edmund's Car of the Year to name a few. It can blow the doors off most of the ICE hatchbacks out there including a mid-90's corvette yet gets no love. Why is that?

Bolt EV Car of the Year (beating a 100K+ Porsche, Tesla Model 3, Lucid and 23 other electric cars)

Because car enthusiasts don't care about electric cars. Nor do I.

Hybrids I understand. -- 100% electric vehicles simply move your demand for fuel from the gas stations to the electrical grid. Both are powered by the same fossil fuels. Plus charging inconvenience and lack of range in the cold. No thanks.

I've driven a Tesla - bizarre experience. and I don't care how many cars its faster than.

But, similar to sports teams, you are free to enjoy whichever car you choose. :)

That's what they say. But I think it depends on the user. It takes more fossil fuels to build a EV over ICE, but if you use it everyday and keep it long term like I plan to do you save money. Also many people have solar panels now. Also electricity is sometimes of wind and water origins in certain parts of the country. My commute is 75 miles a day/ 5 days a week. This car has a range of 259 miles per charge. The equivalent mpg of a gas powered car would be 130 miles per gallon. I charge the car on an automated schedule during off peak hours so every morning I charge the battery to 80%. You don't only save on gas. You save on maintenance. Other than a coolant change at 150,000 miles and tire changes the cars are maintenance free. So you save a few thousand a year right there in addition to gas savings. I live in Tampa so I don't worry about the cold but there were a few days of mid 30 temps and I saw a minimal drop in range.

I don't think you save anything if you overpay for an EV as you do with Teslas or other high end EVS but those people usually drive these things as status symbols. You can buy the Bolt EV base at around $27,000 not including the tax deductions of around $5600. That's cheaper than most combustion engine cars. The Bolt is particularly very well built and the interiors have been updated. The car has a Mercedes like ride, no squeaks or rattles in the cabin, and it's whisper quiet. It's my commuter car otherwise my wife and I drive a Subaru for kayaking, beach going, weekend drives etc...

This particular model is a steal, but this is the last year they are making the Bolt because GM is basically giving them away at cost. It was designed to get more people using electric cars but their next generation of EVS are much more expensive so get these while they last- only 70,000 more are planned to be built.

Also which car enthusiast would not be interested in the Corvette E-ray? 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. The fastest Corvette in history. They are the future.

The vette is good looking, but all i see is them stealing the design of the NSX. Corvettes are boring, they are everywhere and every driver seems to be a toolbag.

And, IMO, most of GM is trash, once you get past the quality of the vette, it goes downhill fast.

I have a rechargeable lawn mower, chainsaw, string trimmer and a little leaf blower for the patio. I love ICE cars, but the writing's on the wall for the eventual shift. Definitely not an environmental improvement at this point though. Unless we went nuke power back in the day. It's all Jackson Browne's fault.

Sentra was great for car tipping at 2am back in the 80s. You know, the boom box on your shoulder walking to Jack in the Box 80s.

Sparky needs to drive around in this mofo!

Here's the best shifter ever. ;) No roll cage, etc., and in sports clothes and loafers, going flat out:

I have a 2015 Ram 1500 as a daily, which I would like to replace with a newer truck soon.

My weekend fun car is a 1982 Monte Carlo CS. Have had the Monte for about 7 years now.

Im in this thread browsing for ideas. My next move is a compact SUV. The volvo xc40 has caught my eye

If you're buying and financing, look for interest rate deals. Mazda has some .9% APR deals on the CX-50 and CX-5.
