New Chevy Colorado looks really nice. Might be a potential replace for my Jeep, but still a little ways away.
Don't do it.

Edit: but let me expand. Similar to the GM truck above (Traverse) -- these all are good looking vehicles -- I love some of the lines on GMC trucks -- but they are made to last 3 years, and maybe 100k -- and then it all goes downhill fast.

If you are leasing? green light -- but if you are buying -- and intend on keeping for awhile, that wouldn't be what I would be looking for,

Just curious as to the noises -- like bad noises -- from engine internals ---

to just "old car" noises -- springs/struts/worn out front end bushings...

good luck with that.

Its a grinding and cranking kind of sound when driving. My knowledge of engines isnt good enough to know what it is. A large grind when car starts.

And the steering is going.

Hit car show at Javits yesterday. Think Im gunna get this option installed.

Drive a Subie Crosstrek and a Bolt EV.
Just got a Crosstrek (red), gonna sell my Forrester with 160K miles. Figured out that there's no point in having the internal storage for road trips or camping - got a hitch basket for that.

It's a bit of a trend I'm seeing in Brooklyn - people downsizing to capitalize on smaller parking spots.

EV cars are social, economic, and political snake oil. It's the kind of mistake made by picking and choosing technologies instead of instituting pollution/carbon taxes. Nobody should be surprised that the people who benefit most are billionaires while a bunch of poor people deal with the toxic consequences of extracting, and disposing of the batteries. I think in 5 years people will look back at EVs like we're starting to think about enhanced opiod painkillers.

To stay on topic I’ll say that this story involves my 2019 Honda Pilot.

Driving down to the Island from Connecticut at noon on Thanksgiving day. Traffic sucked so I got off and took a service road from the the southbound Hutch connecting to the CBE just before the bridge. The service road is 2 lanes and no traffic lights that I can recall.

Mf’ers mailed me a speeding camera ticket for going 37 mph in a 25 mph zone. 25??? I have to believe nearly everyone traveling that way got a ticket. Complete BS. What a money grab.

Only $50 and no points so I guess they figure they’ll just grab the cash, and nobody will contest it

Yep, "school zone" cameras that are in use 24/7/365. Isn't that a convenient excuse? It's impossible to drive anywhere in the boroughs without Waze open.

You're considered either a source of revenue or an aggravation by the authorities.

we prefer to lease because it works for us but holy moley the lease rates along with some fairly large price increases for honda crv's is insane .

my base model awd crv was around 32,500 without taxes in 2020 with a almost a 0% lease rate . A base model 2024 is coming in at 39,000 and an aprox 7% lease rate . That works out to close to 700 a month compared to the 399 I'm currently paying

on the bright side , my lease end buyout price is 13,500 and currently the 2020 base models are selling for 21-25 K depending on what kind of mileage you have . I can buy out the lease end and flip it in a few years and probably make a few grand

Well -- this is not what I drive, but what I drove.... today

My friend bought a Cadillac Blackwing. I have another friend who has a 797hp Challenger, so interested to see how the 600hp Blackwing (or whatever crazy # it has) compares.

Woof.

The Challenger has significant HP advantage but both are large V8 with forced induction. Challenger is that death auto tranny and the Caddy has the manual.

Both RWD.

The Challenger is a beast. A lot of thinking to be done so you keep the car on the road. Even with All Season tires, the Challenger is downright dangerous. The Caddy, with Summer tires and manual, is the refined Challenger, with much nicer interior. Power, just as smile inducing, is way more refined and smooth. It'll burn em all day in first, back end just a little wiggly in second on a straight away and you can rip through all 6 fwd gears with a smile which never ends. NICE interior. Nice easy clutch and nice gearbox. This Honda driver giving props to a manual, doesnt happen often. GM, Im amazed to say, hit it it out of the park on this one. If you can grab a test drive, I highly recommend. If you have the bankroll, I'd also recommend.

Both are ~$90k so Ill never own either, but given the choice, it would be Caddy hands down. What a beautiful machine.

Alpha chassis really makes for a great car. It’s nice to see a luxury manufacturer still focusing on driving mechanics instead of trying to cram as many screens and “tech” features as possible.
