Guy is a Rockstar in Toronto and lives in Arizona in the offseason. He’s living the dream!!! Making American money in a Canadian city can’t hurt either.
You mean paying American and Canadian taxes, and having to deal with Toronto media, which will have the crosses and nail guns out any minute?

He's a loser. He will never win anything meaningful team wise in this sport if he is expected to lead.

Soft, weak, no courage, just one level of play which he can't augment. He's just a player with Technical skill, nothing more.

I look forward to his tears at Beijing 2022 also after another loss in his career.

Dubas signed them to the bad contracts and he didn't help his case when he kept on trading away 1st round picks. We traded away ALOT of picks this year for a 1st round exit.
But if you would’ve won they would’ve been good trades. I think he overpaid for Foligno. But sometimes you have too. As for signing them to bad contracts. Wheat do you suggest he does. Trade marner who is going to sign with another team and get a couple first and a prospect that may not pan out.
You dont just trade superstars when you are contending.

The core needs to change and Dubas is to close to the situation. To emotionally invested.

For that reason he needs to go. Someone detached that has not assembled this or became big brother with promises needs to take over.

Unfortunately, I think this may be the case. And I say unfortunately, because I really like Dubas and want him as the Leafs GM. But some real hard decisions need to be made this offseason and I don't think Kyle has the mettle to do what needs to be done.

Gallant as coach. As for GM, I really want Jarmo Kekalainen. Not sure if he'll be available. What is the list of available GMs

This is 99% on the players. How does this team blow a 3-1 series lead? I truly believe that the leafs need to get either a sports psychologist to spend an enormous amount of time with the core players. Or just bring in torts and let him grind them into the ground for 3 seasons and probably rebuild after that. How can this be such a mental hurdle. The lesser skilled team worked harder and capitalized when it mattered most.

Dubas put together a solid team. The junior coach has always been in over his head and showed it yet again. I'd get rid of the entire coaching staff.

Another playoff first round loss for Matthews. He must be getting fed up with it all. Does he want out as his skills are being wasted in Toronto?
There has never been an indication of that, but you never know what a person's private feelings are, so who knows. If he wants out he should talk to the GM privately and arrange something.

Matthews will hold Dubas hostage. Trade Marner and Matthews is outta here first chance he gets. Can't trade JT due to the no trade clause and even if you could, the optics would look bad after the injury. Sucks but the only core piece to actually show up in Nylander will be dealt. I'll still keep your jersey Will. Thanks for actually doing something this series even with your main center out. Easily had the best playoff series of any of our core pieces ever (JT's Long Island days not included)

Maybe Matthews would, but there has got to be a GM out there that would absolutely trade the farm for Matthews. A non hockey trade based on marketing. I would seriously consider shopping both, and finding a GM that will build a team that might lose a game 7, but not before they plastered the other team into the boards all night and gave the other teams goalie a hard time. No team has ever won the cup with Matthews, and someone wins it without him every year. Just saying a new GM might want to explore it...

Fire Dubas. Hire Dean Lombardi. Trade one of the core forwards for someone who can win a board battle. Chariot was owning Mathews and Marner all night.

I see a lot of people putting blame on dubas and the management. Most people that know me know me as a Devils fan and think that I’m a leaf hater. People that know me well know that I’m a leaf fan but I hate the organization with a passion. This is finally a year where the management actually addressed the needs of the team.
Needed grit. Trade Johnsson and picked up Simmonds, Bogosian, Foligno.
Needed leadership. Picked up those players as well as Thornton.
Needed to improve defense. Brodie and Bogosian.
Needed goalie depth. Trade for campbell and insurance with Rittich.
Did he pick up the best players no? But what options did he have with little cap space and assets to trade.
People blaming Marner and Matthews are right. But always looking for the scapegoat. Every year they pick on someone. The problem wasn’t just them but virtually all the players.
The problem with them IMO is salary. Not saying they shouldn’t maximize what they can get. We all would’ve done the same.
But when you have those guys making that much money it prevents the GM from signing depth players.
Can you blame the GMs for these players asking for big bucks? You almost have to sign them. They are hard to trade and when you are contending you just can’t sit them.
Look at Edmonton. How does the gm manage a team with your top players making that much money.
Look at the teams still in it and the salaries of their top players and the depth they have.
Maybe the issue is paying these stars $11M and then can’t afford to pay anyone else and have to go after scrape to fill your roster.

All of these moves were made after he blew his own load on 4 players making half the cap.

That was the original sin.

Rielly, Nylander, Spezza and Campbell showed up to this series in a big way

Dubas gave this team the best shot he could

Muzzin and JT got hurt

the rest... have at er

Clean out the front office. I don't trust these guys to figure out what pieces to keep and what to blow up. I don' trust Keefe to coach. And can we also now finally fire the moron behind this PP.

This is not Management.

Shanahan and Dubas set this team up for success.

This is on the players. No drive, no killer instinct.

What's the reasonable thing to do?

One of the big four has to go. Tavares isn't going anywhere, Matthews is not going anywhere and you cannot trade the only one who actually showed up with heart (Nylander for those who don't or can't understand). You know who that leaves out.

Question is so we trade for a big piece? Or several smaller pieces.

On the defence, Reilly is a possible trade chip. Maybe Holl as well.

Thornton is NOT a resign candidate.
Maybe Simmons but wouldn't be for more than 1 mill.

Bring back Dermott.

3 11 million guys is overboard.
An 11 million winger who can’t score goals is bad.
Struggling at playoff hockey just sinks you.

And if he would’ve trade those players for picks prospects when the team is rebuilt he would’ve been destroyed by leaf fans.

I said before this season started that I would be willing to trade Marner or Nylander, not overly eager to, but willing to, if it could free up the space to pick up Petrioangelo. They need a dominant stud in the back end who can eat big minutes as Weber does. It's a necessity for the playoffs. Habs ran four top D most of the last few games.

Clearly this team needs physical forwards. I was underwhelmed by Simmonds this playoffs unfortunately and Foligno looked tired and injured. Bogosian was solid physically on the backend and I hope we can keep him. The league that was once going towards a more open game, has reverted back a la 1995-2005, we have to pile up and ship out what isn't working. More big, physical, mean players.

I repeat my mantra that the Leafs need more Hymans.
It's essential for the playoffs as the league has allowed the last two years of reverting back to interference hockey. The Habs Made Interference Great Again and the league and league allows it. What's old is now new again.

Making a big trade now has to be the goal. Question is, who will be buying?

Andersen comes off the books along with some others. Leafs will have some Cap space but once again, they will find themselves in the same revolving door up against the Cap and trying to piecemeal a strong team. If you can't move a big contract, you're going down the same road and praying the team "gets it". That's the definition of insanity.

This was a unique year and opportunity. Alot of businesses, sports news, networks and sponsors are going to take a bath for the Leafs poor eight years of playoff failure. I'm not confident that this team can get out of this Cap mess.

He traded away our grit in Kadri. Didn't get Simmonds at that deadline like he should have to insulate the only grit on the team.

Let Hainsey walk after Reily had a career year with him and replaced him with Cody f***ing Ceci. Hahaha. . TRades Marleau for a cap dump only to miss the playoffs.

I liked the Muzzin signing. But Ceci and Barrie were a laugh.

Let McBackup alk for Sparks and we bled points for half a season because of it.

Why do we have little cap space? Because of Kyle.

We literally just wasted half our AM years letting a f***ing rookie GM learn on the job. MLSE is a joke.
