Time to hand the bottom part of the roster over to cheap kids: Robertson, Liljegren, Sandin, Anderson, maybe even Rodion if he has a good camp.

let Hyman walk

Don’t sign old guys who can’t play like Simmonds and Thornton.

Yep. I totally agree. Time for the kids to make a jump, Thornton killed the play 90% of the time the puck touched his stick this playoffs.

I feel like he single handedly held Spezza back and Spezza still performed. Get him some speed and support.

I love Hyman but worry about how much he will cost and if there are more effective ways to spend the money, say on defense possibly.

Going to be an interesting off-season. I admit i have no idea what direction dubas is going to go in.

-Promote Willy to 1st line
-Demote Marner to 3rd
-Don't resign Anderson
-Dubas should go before Shanahan
Willy was on ice for 6 goals 5x5 but 5 goals against, with less than top QoC.
Marner was on for 3 goals for and 1 goal against on a shutdown line.
Other stats
Xgf..
Marner 5.98
Nylander 4.93
Xgf%
Marner 66.04
Nylander 52.14
Hdcf
Marner 25
Nylander 18
Hdca
Marner 12
Nylander 19

Let's be real. Nylander would have not done better on that top line. Say what you will about value related to salary but Nylander just isnt better.

Pretty much.
It’s put more duct tape around the core.

Yup

Just like last year when he brought in graybeards Joe Thornton, Wayne Simmonds and then moves like signing KHL free wallets like Alexander Barabanov, Mikko Lehtonen, & brought in Jimmy Vesey, Travis Boyd re-signed Denis Malgin and Nic Petan & then at the TD tossed away 1st and other picks on Nick Foligno, Ben Hutton, David Rittich, Riley Nash etc.

So more of the same this off-season and next TD.

This year re-sign Hyman, Spezza, Galchenyuk & Bogosian, take some more KHL swings at players like Kirill Semyonov and promote some AHLers Nic Robertson, Joey Anderson, & Timothy Liljegren.

Clearly, they need someone who can bully the other team just as Ben Chariot bullied our best player this series. I know Auston fought back and we truly saw the physicality he brought back but Chariot was very impactful with his physicality.

We need someone who can play and keep other players honest.

I'm not sure how you fix this team in a flat cap world. We need more versatile players to support the core group but those don't come cheap and our prospects are more of the same being undersized finesse players. It will only get more difficult if Hyman and Rielly both leave.

We had a good window between 2018-2021 and pissed it away

The core needs to be readjusted.
If you have a Crosby/Malkin and then a Kessel, the next thing you do is not get another Kessel. You need to balance out the team. You need a solid, competitive 3rd line.

Like when we had Kadri-Kapanen-Johnson.
You aren’t going to win with Engval,Mich and whatever.

Until you are ready to move on from 3 11 million forwards in a flat cap with suspect depth, it doesn’t really matter.
Chances are we are right back here again next year. Like we are from last year.

It's pretty strange how busy Duabs (Dubas) was at the trade deadline, and we barely saw any of those players dress.

Foligno
Nash
Rittich
Hutton

Please don't tell me that aside from Foligno we "didn't need them".

Why were they acquired? They didn't come free. They were of interest to Duabs to either fill out the line-up, play in relief of injury, or add to the roster to show different looks.

Holy God. What happened? For the sake of closing a series someone should have been in the line-up.

Talk about a waste.

We’ve traded everything else first (Kadri,Kapanen,Johnson, etc) to save the core, let pieces walk (JVR,Gardiner,Bozak,Komarov) to save the core, spent assets, 1st rounders to help the core and where do we find ourselves?

Is there not a visible problem people are seeing. Money spent on certain areas vs. results?

The real problem is 2 of those 3 $11 million players aren't worth anywhere near their contract. Tavares is at least defensible as he was a UFA and it was a bidding war. Although I do a hard pass because of how much I value skating and my $11 goes towards someone who can skate. If we have prime Crosby and Malkin, I'm fine with bringing out the checkbook.

I think it’s time we change up the goal horn…

Something fresh and obnoxious to piss off the opposition.

Definitely need to plug in as many kids as possible next season. Sandin, Robertson, and Liljegren are the obvious choices. If Amirov is ready that would be a bonus.

I would be ok with adding the right UFA veterans at league minimum deals as well for depth.

Good point.

Yet most gave duabs an A rating for his deadline lol

Its amazing how everything duabs does is amazing to his fan club. And yet we still can't win a single series.

Its almost like duabs has no idea what he's doing and neither do his fans.

Lets face it, it looks like they aren't gonna change much other then the surrounding players around the core.

With a little over 15 million (taking out Mikheyev and Engvall), no picks and a terrible prospect pool full of the same type of player theres not much we can do but ride it out and hope for injuries and suspensions to pave our way like it has for Montreal...

It was a good few years after decades of suffering but were almost back to where we began in my eyes. I can't even fathom what they can do to fix this team. Rushing our 5'8 skill prospects and telling them there grinders now? Signing Europeans who won't do anything either? Sign more old guys?

Before the Isles began their dynasty, they were doing really well in the regular season and choking in the playoffs. The year they won their first of many, they decided to focus on playoff hockey in the regular season. They finished 4th or 5th that year but went on to win the cup.
I would begin there.
