Vegas wins Stanly cup with a new coach
Florida(albeit lucky) goes to final with a new coach
Vancouver turns their franchise around with a new coach
Oilers turn their season around with a new coach

Here we are, here we in love with a douchebag. Just another DJ Smith

I don't believe MLSE wants to pay Keefe to not coach, I would be surprised if anything happens midseason.

Terrible extension by Treliving.
No Team wants to pay a Coach not to Coach, yet all do at one time or another.
In fairness to Keefe, he should have been gone long ago.

Keefe doesn't seem too worried about last night's game:

The coach ran through Tuesday's near misses: Tyler Bertuzzi's missed tap-in, Pontus Holmberg's stopped one-timer, and William Nylander hitting iron on a breakaway.

"We play that game over, we're gonna score four or five a lot of nights," Keefe said.

Such a weird take from Keefe.

If you play that game over Edmonton would have also scored 5-6. Hyman had two clean drives to the net and Kane barely missed one too on a rush.

Marner and Keefe are delusional right now.

No Corporation owner, wants to give up playoff revenue.

It's shared revenue in the POs.

Merch is sold going into the first round when everyone wants to show off new gear for the run.

2nd round merch is not much

3rd round merch is maybe a bit better

Cup merch is a difference maker but the odds of getting there are so low regardless.

Cup winning Merch is huge.

From what I have always understood, home teams keep 65% of ticket revenue, 35% goes to the pool. Home team keeps all of merch, concessions, parking....

Has that changed? Link?

Right but at the end of the day it's 3 home games on average for us. The Merch is sold in the stores not the rink and is mostly bought in gear-up for the run. The Leafs have the highest revenue in the league regardless. So yes it's nice, but at the same time it's not as meaningful as it would be to say Nashville or Tampa or teams like that.

I bet you could calculate that 4 big name players sell more in merch and draw more attention and sales to the brand over the course of a season than a 2nd round win. 3rd round win and a cup would be massive here. By all rights they should be trying to win, but the team makeup isn't really seeming like it can get it done.

Is Keefe too blind to see that JT has no speed? Or is that big stomach in the way?

Why doesn't he take his blinders off and at least TRY playing Wille at center and JT on the wing. JT could still take important draws.

But no, let's continually scramble the lines and hope that something sticks.

There are alot of issues with this team, mainly the defence and their lack of situational awareness and slowness in moving the puck, but the biggest issue is the coaching. Nevermind the structural problems there are appear to be, for example, this team keeps the puck as long as it can to keep possession and inevitably pressure from the oppostion leads to giveaways and running around in the zone. But this coach actually thinks they played a good game last night. I saw a team that was essentially dummied by the Oilers. It was men against the boys for the most part.

And this attitude of smugness permeates down to the players. Marner's post game comments showed how out of touch this guy is. Thinking the team is "great" and the problem is the media or fans is ridiculous. There is no urgency or awareness where they are in the standings and how poorly they've played the entire season. They aren't lower because the team does have elite players, but they need to be held accountable. Keefe is not that guy!.

Scary thought is the Leafs played the best game of the season so far against the Oilers and still not good enough.

People need to understand that there's little value tearing down your team in the media and you can't do it all that often. These clips feel like a coach who knows the mood is down and see's little value piling on.

I'm sure it would make fans feel better, maybe even Keefe himself to say they look like dog shit, but does it improve their play any?

Nothing has changed since the summer, why is scary now? If they didn’t play and try hard it would be a different story.

Keefe should know by now there are no do overs in sports and you don’t get multiple cracks at something for percentages to go your way. You either do it or you don’t.
