I hope this isn't the last time i see thm in the final.

First it was getting to the playoffs after a decade of not being in it.

Second was winning some series but not getting out of the second round.

Then we finally made it to the conference finals but ran out of gas.

In AVs first year we make the final with a fantastic effort and now they've learned what it takes to win.

Hopefully all of this makes the next step even sweeter.

For the Rangers, thank you for a fantastic year. Almost a year of hockey you gave us. Henrik Lundqvist, you are a champion in my book. 3 wins from the Cup, and 3 losses in OT which could have gone either way. I'm proud of this team, they deserved better but someone's gotta lose.

Congrats to the Kings and their fans, they area great team and earned it.

Awesome post. Spot on.

At least they redeemed themselves in these last two games. But Game 2 will haunt me until the Rangers win another Cup.

That entire series changed on a blown call by Dan O'Halloran.

That will never be forgiven or forgotten.

I'm proud of our boys. They gave it everything they had. It just was not enough. Stings like hell.

Congrats to the Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings.

I saw nothing from the Kings to make me think they are on another level from us. Sure they dominated third periods but every single time that was 100% coaching making us sit in a shell when we had a lead. The overtimes were much more even and we had pressure which completely disproves the theory that their physical play wore us down late.

Officiating in this series with a ****ing disgrace and needs to be fixed. Game 2 we essentially directly lost because of it and while we still might have given up the typing goal without that joke of a tripping call (which should have put US on the plwerplay) that specific goal should not have taken place. It's unbelievable how bad it was from non-interference goal calls, to refs decided they don't want to call delay of game on puck over glass, to just blatantly getting tripping wrong.

AND PLEASE PLEASE GET RID OF HYBRID ICING. Constant misapplication of this rule KILLED us. We're a team that could win a lot of those races with our speed and DO win a lot of them and the Pejorative Slured linesman just auto-call everything icing even when it's clearly wrong. Either go back to what we had or go straight to no-touch. None of this garbage where the refs flip a coin and decide whatever the **** they feel like calling.

Offseason plan:
Buyout Richards
Let Boyle go since I'm assuming he's going to get an excessive offer
Resign RFA Zucc/Brass
Resign Pouliot/Moore pending contract requirement.
Either trade Staal/resign Stralman or let Stralman go and use the money to faciliate a trade for a Center or puck moving right defenseman.
Find a top 2 line center whether its FA type Grabovski/Stastny or a Spezza

I do not think I am for keeping Stralman and Staal. The lack of a offensive right defenseman really hurt our powerplay and killed our chances for one timers. All 3 of our right defenseman now are good defensively and have almost nothing on offense. While Stralman was great this year we need more of a balance. These players are obviously expensive though as I certainly don't want a Del Zotto type defensive disaster.

Keep both Staal and Stralman.

Try to package Nash with Girardi.

Never thought we would get this close at any point in the regular season. Never thought we could win the East. Hank has more good years and we have a good young core group that has been to the big show now. Dump Richie. We are stuck with Nash, but maybe he will grow a pair over the summer.
Oh, and **** the refs.

very proud of this team right now.

I don't care that we lost. we went toe-to-toe with a team that beat the Sharks, Hawks, and Ducks, and it took 3 0/t losses to do us in.

Grats guys.

Definitely no shame in coming 2nd. My heart goes out to you guys, you'll be back.

Be proud. :)

Come on. Don't be that fan. They won 3 OT games and made all the right plays when necessary.

Hate to admit it but I think they win Game 2 and 5 with or without the refs help.

Don't be what fan? We evenly played the Kings most of the time. I think the series was very even -- certainly not your typical 4-1 series.

Best season in 20 years. We didn't get the end result, but I'm very proud of the heart this team showed from winning game 7 in Philly, coming back against the Pens, staving off Montreal, and giving the Kings a run for their money.

Deserved to lose. Squandered their chances and blew way too many leads in the finals. Henrik seemed to be the only one refusing to lose.

The shame of it all is Lundqvist probably doesn't get another shot at the finals.

In the end the Kings simply were the better team than our guys. Plain and simple. No *****ing about the refs from me. If you only pot 4 through what, 210+ minutes of hockey, it's gonna catch up to you. If you blow 4 2 goal leads in a series and one more 1 goal lead it's gonna catch up to you. If your PP is running at about 10% it's gonna catch up to you. If your top paid guys bring nothing in the SCF it's gonna catch up to you. If the defense, that is usually your forte makes brain dead plays half of the time, it's gonna catch up to you. Refs were the least of our problems.

That mini-rant aside, I am very grateful for this season. It was the most excited I've ever been watching sports. Lets hope Lundqvist can hold up for 3-4 more season and perhaps we can get something going again.

To finish this season, there's nothing else for me to say than

LET'S GO RANGERS!

And again, awesome post. You nailed this series. Definitely grateful, yet pissed. If that makes any sense.

When he started in the job, no one did.

Yes but when he ****ing destroyed hockey for a full year he sort of brought that on to himself. First time since the lockout that I didn't hear a single boo, is that the sign of bandwagon rich ****s or the wounds of the lockout have healed. I believe it is the latter

Rangers had so many chances to win.

2 OT PP should have been enough.

No excuses.

Showed up:
Lundqvist
Zuccarello
McDonagh
Stralman
Hagelin

Eh:
Kreider
Pouliot
Staal
Boyle
DMoore
Dorsett
St. Louis
Klein
Stepan

Did not show up:
Nash
Richards
Girardi
Staal
JMoore
Brassard

Just IMO

You have Staal listed twice. I would move Richards and Brass to the Eh list

Game 1, 2, 5...All heartbreaking losses, just ridiculous how the bounces never went for us after going up in those games

I remember watching these boys in the preseason at my ex girlfriends house losing to San jose, thinking how awful a team i was watching as she made fun as the goals went against us. Well she left me for another guy, but this team didnt, its amazing how long of a way they have come, and what a demonstration of heart and soul. Starting with hank, but every single guy on this team was just great. I know Nash got heck for not scoring, but he played defensively in ways i did not know he could. Every D man was awesome, the forecheck of this team all playoffs was just a pleasure to watch. They fell short, but playing against a team at this stage will only be beneficial for upcoming years for our core players.

Great season, but we should be up 3 games to 2 right now and got royally ****ed. I am disgusted right now by the officiating. Worst screw job I've seen since they stole the Cup from Calgary in 2004. Go refs go
