And the NHL gets their wish.
I refuse to believe the LA Kings are that much better than the New York Rangers.
They aren't all that much better. Just a few inches here and there.

The series was done for after the Game 2 debacle. The ref's decided it again tonight.
Well, they tried to decide it by giving the only overtime powerplays to the Rangers. Aside from that it was a very close series. Congrats to both teams for playing their guts out.
You gotta admit the call on Zucc was bad though dude. Game should have never went to OT, so who cares how many PP chances the Rangers got in the extra frame.
Pisses me off that that bonehead Milbury's prediction of Kings in 5 was right, pisses me off even more that it shouldn't have been. It's like the refs had that prediction too, in Vegas.

It was a good run. It's just frustrating that they lost games 1 and 2 when they should have been able to win them. It feels like they didn't get beat, rather they lost on their own.
I hope that they continue playing good hockey next season, and that they work on some of the issues that contributed to losing this series.
Whether they lost because the Kings' resolve was insurmountable, or they lost because they did it to themselves, the fact remains that the Rangers weren't good enough to win it all. It's okay, the Kings are a stacked, well built team, with incredible resiliency. There's no shame in losing to them.
That said, this was a remarkable playoff run, easily the best run since 1997, introducing the concept of actually beating the Penguins in a playoff series. About freakin' time.
My heart is broken because Lundqvist gave it his all, and it still wasn't enough. Came close with the McDonagh post and Nash getting deflected in route to an empty net...but them's the breaks.
I hope it's a huge learning experience for the core. With smart decisions at free agency, or savvy trades, the team should be able to get better. Thinking back to how grim everything looked in October, AV completes a sensational first year as Rangers head coach.
Let's not take 20 years to get back to the finals.
I agree but it's still frustrating. I think this is a real good team going forward and I'm optimistic about next season because as good as they were this season, there is still a lot of room for improvement. It feels good knowing that this isn't all they have, and that they can get better.
A lot of guys just looked exhausted in the finals. In the coming days we'll also get to find out what types of injuries we were dealing with, which is always interesting.
Lastly, as much as losing stings, I'm at least happy for Gaborik.
Steamrolled in all of the OT's in the series would do that to ya.
Girardi was injured, his passes used to be very accurate and he was having trouble even handling the puck. I'd guess a broken hand/finger or something.
Great season. Just those damn 3rd periods and not burying OT chances.
I feel so bad for Henrik. But I'm confident this team is capable of taking the next step and winning it all. Hope the front office figures away to retain as much of this roster as possible.
