I'll never forget what the refs did in game 2 and the NHL's refusal to do something about it. The league went down a bunch of notches.

Every goal c needs to be reviewable and coaches need the ability to challenge 2 plays per game... If the game is so fast then do something about it.. Such ****

Instead of getting better, the league gets worse with officiating. From the zebras on the ice, to the war room, to whoever is in charge of player safety now, and the ******** leading the league.

The call on Zucc tonight, was even worse imo. But Game 2 was a more important game.

That said, I think if we win Game 1, we win the cup. We were never ahead in the series after that loss. Oh well. We kinda blew it too, we can't lay all the blame on the refs. We had our chances. Championship teams overcome those bad calls, you have to also look at it from that perspective, imo.

My "rant" against Gabby has nothing to do with that he doesn't deserve a cup...he does, and just did. Well deserved. But it's sad to think about the fact that we had pieces just like him, but at the same time missed parts of his potential with Tort's system... Wanted him to win that cup with us.

I agree. Every goal needs to be reviewed by the league. I think every coach should get a challenge too which they can use on any call. If they're right they get to keep the right to challenge again, if they're wrong they're unable to challenge again. Simple system to fix the game's officiating.

The Toronto war room made it blatantly obvious during the season with those kicking motion penalties. The cards are stacked against the Rangers.

I always hate writing this post.

Reflecting first on the series, it was winnable. They had to hang on to the leads in games 1 and 2. The officials did us no favors with the calls in game 2 and the Zuccarello penalty tonight. Not the sole reason we lost, and I hate blaming the refs, but it’s frustrating. Los Angeles is an amazing team. 2 cups in 3 years, and we were right there with them.

I am so proud of what this team was able to accomplish this year. The terrible start into mid December when most of us wanted the team to rebuild. I was part of the trade Girardi and Callahan group for the right return, young roster players and picks. I was against the St. Louis trade. Let's be honest, this roster was not without its flaws.

All year this team proved me wrong. They beat a good Flyers team, came back from 3-1 against the Penguins, slaying two demons, and they beat the whiny Habs. This playoff run presented a ton of fun memories. Being in MSG to watch a win in the Cup final and the Eastern Conference clincher are memories I’ll always cherish. Some highlights for me personally were Carcillo’s goals against the Flyers in games 3 and 7, Marty’s goal on Mother’s Day, Brassard and MSL winning huge OT games, and Lundqvist’s reaction knowing he’d play in his first Cup final.

This team faced a lot of adversity, starting on the road for a month, changing an entire playing style, Moore and MSL’s personal tragedies. The list goes on.

Watching Lundqvist cry tonight is devastating. As fans, this team is a part of you and watching him and the rest of the guys hurting tonight, it hurts me too. The Rangers are my biggest passion. It kills me getting so close and coming up short. I think there’s a lot of positivity to take out of this. Kreider is a rookie and he already has 50 playoff games under his belt. Stepan, Hagelin and McDonagh are still kids and they’ve been on teams with 2 very deep runs already. These guys are learning the sacrifices it takes to win.

On the other hand, our stars let us down. Richards was horrible in the MTL and LA series. He’s not coming back, which is fine. Hopefully JT Miller gives us a young option on the 3rd line. Rick Nash… great defense is fine, but 3 goals in 25 games is unacceptable. He’s a completely different player post-concussion and it’s sad to see. Wish we could dump that contract. Girardi and Staal came up small in this series. Terrible timing.

Looking forward, the team needs to bring back Stralman, Moore and Boyle. Absolute gamers, and I was not a Boyle fan for a while. Re-sign Pouliot too.

This feeling is so deflating, because you never know if you’re going to get back. Hopefully one day soon we can look back on this run as a good memory that started a road to a Stanley Cup, because as proud as I am of the guys, I feel so empty right now.

Sorry for the essay guys, had to get my thoughts down somewhere.

The Toronto war room made it blatantly obvious during the season with those kicking motion penalties. The cards are stacked against the Rangers.

The problem with the war room is that there's only one guy who decides if it's a goal or not. No one else to counter any ******** reasoning of his.

MESSAGE TO RANGERS FANS:

No one died tonight, our favorite team lost, that's all. They had a great year. Be thankful for all the positive things you have in your life. Like family and friends! And as much as we all feel bad for Lundqvist, we must also remember that at the end of the day, he is going home to his mansion tonight with millions of dollars in the bank, and an endless amount of beautiful women at his beckon call. So lets not feel "too bad" for him, ok? :)

We are just regular joe's, doing the best we can. We root for the jersey, first and foremost, before any player. And the team will be back next season ready to go. Lets be excited about the future with all our young talented players!

We made it further than 28 other teams, including the Stanley cup champion Blackhawks! WE SHOULD BE PROUD!!! And...we have an EASTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP BANNER to raise to the rafters next home opener! So we didn't come away with "nothing".

We will enter the playoffs next year as DEFENDING EASTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPS, lets try to look forward to that! It's awesome! :)

I'm going to PROUDLY WEAR my 2014 Eastern conference champion cap and t-shirt for MANY YEARS! No one can take that away from me! I'm proud!

In my opinion, Lundqvist needed a run where he made the finals AT LEAST to cement his legacy. He accomplished that. He didn't win the ultimate prize, but he got to play for it and he lead a team to as deep a run as you can possibly have without winning it. He has proven himself as one of the all-time greats.

The cup is a team award, so Lundqvist should feel no shame in not winning it. He didn't have the players in front of him to do it. Period. He is a cup-caliber goalie though, and EVERYONE knows it.

Lets try to keep things in perspective. Enjoy the Summer! And wear your 2014 Eastern Conference Championship gear WITH PRIDE! I will! I'm SO HAPPY we made the finals, it is MUCH BETTER than losing in the ECF like we did in 2012. We've taken a HUGE STEP to ultimate goal. :)

EDIT: This experience is going to be INVALUABLE for our younger players like McDonaugh and Kreider. They will LEARN from this experience of going to the finals, amd be BETTER PREPARED for furture playoff runs! :)

Proud of this team, but what a **** way to lose...3 OT games in LA-all losses.
Would have been nice to see our 7.8 million dollar man score at least 1 goal in one of those OT's, could have changed the whole series

Thank you, great post. Our guys learned some amazing **** this run, and I have no doubt we're in this position before we know it.

MSL is a great guy to have on our team. I'm so glad we dumped cally for him.

I think Management looks into how much Nash can pull back in... 8M in cap space for nothing in the playoffs is killing us

The toughest part about this I think is the fact that we couldn't win ONE ROAD GAME this finals. That killed us.

We win ONE ROAD GAME and this series most likely goes 7 games. And from a team that set a record for most road wins in a season (for the Rangers) it sure is a huge disappointment to not be able to steal ONE ROAD GAME in the finals. Oh well. Especially when you consider that L.A. has NOT PLAYED particularly well at home in these playoffs. :(

What a run, what a year and what a group of players. Thank you for this New York Rangers and I hope to see most of you back in the fall. I won't be expecting back to back trips to finals just yet, but two eastern conferences finals in 3 years with the same core is promising..

Love this team, it's been one helluva spring/summer.

Random baseless speculation/gut feelings I have:

Staal and Girardi both played hurt. Both injuries will take the summer to heal.

Nash played concussed the rest of the season and the playoffs. LTIR may be his future.

Sather's going to step down. That's the only thing I may have some credible info on. I'd expect the announcement next week if it happens.

I'd like more info, stat.

We won two of them. The refs extended them both

Can't say the rangers deserved to win. The kings are a great team. However, the blue shirts deserved a fair shot. Time to replace the refs with robots.

I can't say I'm in horrible pain here. We were great and I'm so proud, and I feel like we will continue to contend.

The only really hard part for me was seeing how upset the guys were. I just want so bad for them to know they didn't let us down.

I honestly think the most scrutinized call was probably the least bad of the 3. I think that was actually the most subjective **** up. Puck over the glass and ******* Muzzin sticking his leg out, were completely 100% objectively blown calls. Today's was the worst call because it was an objective **** up, but unlike the puck over the glass tied the game, likely the game ends 2-1, if not for that.

This run makes me appreciate 1994 even more

Good Lord, I can't believe it's been 20 years (to the day) since we last won it all in 1994. Kind of ironic, that 20 years later (to the day) we lose the cup.

It makes me appreciate that 1994 run even more, knowing how much luck we needed to get to the finals, how many grueling Game 7 wins we needed, how many posts the other team had to hit and not score...and yet we STILL ended up 3 wins short of the ultimate goal here in 2014.

I feel very lucky and fortunate to have witnessed that 1994 cup. I was not an adult yet, but I was 15 years old and I was able to comprehend very well what was going on at that time. I was able to experience the joy of seeing my favorite hockey team win it all.

Here we are, 20 years later, and I was hoping to have that feeling once again. But it was not meant to be. And yet...I'm not an old man yet, and I look forward to seeing a few more deep runs of my favorite hockey team before I reach the age where I start to lose my marbles, lol.

Thank you Mark Messier, Mike Richter, Brian Leetch and the rest of the 1994 team. Without you guys, we'd be looking at a 74 year drought right now. You guys are my hero's and I'll never forget you or that 1994 team.
