Random baseless speculation/gut feelings I have:

Staal and Girardi both played hurt. Both injuries will take the summer to heal.

Nash played concussed the rest of the season and the playoffs. LTIR may be his future.

Sather's going to step down. That's the only thing I may have some credible info on. I'd expect the announcement next week if it happens.

Funny you mention that because I swore I just saw pigs flying over my house. :sarcasm::cry:

I am very skeptical.

You're defending the shot that was taken and not so much what would happen if the puck was elevated more.

Once again. Please explain how he elevates the puck more on a split second one timer without even knowing a defender was near him. This is as absurd as blaming Hank for the OT goal.

I'm beyond consolation right now.

Mainly because Lundqvist will probably never get another shot at a Cup in our sweater. I almost cried when the camera panned to him and St.Louis.

The better team won. Kreider needs to practice breakaways all summer.

We seem to be on a "win one, lose one" streak when appearing in the Cup Finals. Since 1940, we're 1-2. If the trend continues, we will win the next one.

It's going to be a beautiful weekend. Think about bouncing Montreal and finally exorcizing the Pittsburgh demon and smile. Let's go for it again next year.

We are now 1-4 since 1940...lost in 50, 72, 79 and 2014

I would hope our great training staff would never let Nash play with a concussion. At least I hope they wouldn't.

I actually feel ok now. I vented like mad but I feel ok now. We got to watch some awesome hockey and the NYR proved that they were deserving of their trip to the SCF. I can't ask for much more coming into the year and I can watch my team lose and not have to spend the off-season bitterly hating my own team bc I can do it to the refs now. Admittedly if the refs hadn't blown those two calls I think the NYR might have blown it all on their own and I would have been raging against our D all summer. Instead I got to yell at the refs, didn't hurt a soul and now I can enjoy my summer.

Islander's fan coming in peace. Jus wanted to tip my hat to you guys. What a great year, and though Kings win it in 5, 3 wins were in OT, those games were so close and tight, those games could have gone either way, and the 3-0 loss, you guys dominated but were unlucky. Closest 5 game series I've ever seen. I thought the Western Conference is the most dominant, but the Rangers showed how good the Eastern Conference is, and how scary the Rangers are as a team, just extremely talented team with a 1st ballot Hall of Fame goalie. The Rangers certainly are worthy Eastern Conference Champs.

You have my respect, and my jealousy, I hope to live long enough to see My Islanders make it back to the Finals one day. You guys should be very proud of your great team, they put on a fantastic show. Congrats guys, hold your heads up high, your team will be a force to reckon with once again next year.

Thanks that's very nice of you.

“@DaveLozo: Henrik Lundqvist is literally inconsolable. Teammates coming over to console him and he wants none of it.”

You're defending the shot that was taken and not so much what would happen if the puck was elevated more.

I already said in the other thread elevating the shot would make no difference long term because Nash obviously does not know exactly where Voynov's stick is so regardless of where he shoots the puck there is close to the same percent chance Voynov would block it. In this GIVEN situation sure if he elevated it slightly more it would have went in but at the same time you could just then say what if Voynov just elevated his stick a little more on that chance and it would be blocked anyway.

Criticizing Nash for not scoring on that play is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard.

More concerned with what happens with Carcillo this off-season than with Nash. Nash...can't love him can't hate him...don't really know what to think.

Are we REALLY going to go on and on and on about Rick Nash and the open net? Close moments are heartbreaking and the magnitude of them in a game like this is HUGE. But to bicker about one play in a game filled with hundreds? Why?

The loss is painful and I can't deny that. But I also can't deny that these guys played their hearts out. They gave us a phenomenal couple of months to be a fan of this team.

You know what, though? Even as hard as it is, the bickering is from a place of passion. It might be negative, but I for one am going to savor the passion while it lasts. Pretty soon, we'll be talking disconnectedly about whether or not to resign Pouliot. Even negative passion is worth wallowing in.

The guy played his heart out. Knowing how he takes a regular season loss I cant imagine whats going through his head right now. Right in the feel :(

Which brings me back to what I stated earlier which is he could have done 1 of 2 things, and it's not really ridiculous considering everything that has been associated with Nash in these playoffs and his stay so far as a Ranger.

Henrik Lunqvist will go down as the greatest Ranger of all time.

I hope he doesnt become a Mats Sundin but somehow gets his big trophy with us like JS Giguere did
