Cherry has been telling everyone for 3 years that Kadri should be in the NHL......but what does he know!

Cherry takes a lot of heat on here, but he knows talent when he see's it.

Remember he said the same about many others when they were in the minors.... Perry and Spezza come to mind!

It really came down to the KMG line. They were out there for both goals.

Kulemin with a weak effort to get to the point, And Grabo with way to long of a shift on the second. Blown coverage by Gunnar as well.

Not to sound like a homer but were better team, But Miller was the difference.

Lots to build on I like what I saw from all defensemen(Phaneuf and Holzer especially), The PK was miles better.

The first goal was a fluke. On the second goal, Gunnarsson was interfered with, and Grabovski took his man out of the play the entire way to the net.

There was a bizarre play where a Sabre made an errant pass from deep in the leafs zone towards the blueline that went right to Kulemin. He had Grabovski with him and it was the perfect breakout. Kulemin purposely didnt touch the puck and let it go by. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he thought it would make it to Grabovski, but....with the way he played today and Saturday, I just don't really know what to think.

komarov has good grit and speed, but not enough size and talent for top 9...brown orr and mcclement arent here for scoring buy dam they cant even pass or shoot let alone create chances...we need,

lupul kadri kessel
mac grab kule
jvr bozak frattin
komarov mcclement orr/brown

Yeah the first goal was total B.S. The puck was going 4-5 feet wide and then it hits Hodgson on his arm or shoulder and goes in..and then the second one is pretty much a break away. Yet people will blame Scrivens LOL

Let's assume for the sake of the guys that don't know hockey that it was Scrivens fault.

-Teams should still be able to win on most nights if their goalie gives up only 2 goals.
-Miller stole this one.

Leafs inability to score on the 5 on 3 was a huge setback. On that note, why the heck was Kadri not on any one of those 5 on 3's?

I bet Kadri would have connected with Kessel if he was on the 5 on 3...

I like Bozak a lot but he shouldn't be on the PP, he just passes the puck to one of Dion or Kessel, nothing else, never shoots the puck.

Good freaking game fellas. So close there at the end, I just knew they wouldn't give up on getting at least 1 on Miller. Nice to see Kadri get it, he was playing a fantastic game.

Tough game, but it makes you think with a little better luck that this one is all Toronto.

Look forward to the next game and possibly seeing Jake Gardiner back there manning the point on the powerplay!

Another thing, I didn't get to see the whole game til the 3rd, but why were Franson and Komi scratched? I thought both of them played very well Saturday, especially Franson. Is it cause Carlyle just wants to rotate d-men? I don't get why Carlyle doesn't just let Franson play...

With Gardiner returning, I think Carlyle wanted to see what Holzer and Fraser could do. I think both those guys will probably be sent back down and Carlyle will alternate with Franson/Komi as the 7th guy and will probably bring up Holzer and/or Fraser if the Leafs need some big bodies in the lineup against a certain team.

Leafs played well, but were unlucky, on both ends.

Miller played well but was plenty lucky too - a couple of crossbars, a coupla pucks beat him that didn't count, and a couple of times there was plenty of room and we fired wide or right into him.

Dion Phaneuf was an absolute beast tonight. Just awesome all over the ice. Playing mostly on the left side seems to be agreeing with him.

Lupul is starting to get his hands back, but Grabo is still the big no-show up front.

But let's be real - not only is Kadri awesome, but he clearly should be on the top line right now. He's not only ridiculously skilled, but he's a gritty physical player to boot. Also looked good on faceoffs tonight.

I'll understand if Randy doesn't make the switch for the Pens game, but these lines have to happen sooner rather than later:

Lupul - Kadri - Kessel
JVR - Grabo - MacA
Komo - Bozak - Kuly

And I hope Randy learned a lesson tonight about playing too many plugs on the blue line. No more ****ing around like that, randy, and please give us at least 4dmen who deserve to play on the PP.

I agree with everything said here. As for the 4 dmen who can play the PP, I think that's inevitable at this point. I think Fraser gets the hook once Gardiner returns, he didn't impress me out there at all.

He had to see them all play at least one game to judge fairly without any exhibition games so I have no qualms with the lineup choice tonight.

I'm actually fairly impressed with this team so far after two games. They're going with young guys which is long overdue and so far they have for the most part been pretty good.

The Scrivens criticism I've seen on here is pretty unfair. He's given up three goals in two games and I don't think he can be faulted on any one of them. Luongo is not coming folks. Get over it. Vancouver is not going to go exclusively with Schneider in a year they are expected to win the Stanley Cup. Gillis would be taking too big of a gamble in trading Luongo.

The Leafs need to either sink or swim with the goalies they have and re-evaluate in the summer.

Miller was not some superhuman tonight. There must be dozens of people in this thread talking about how he was the difference, stole the game, etc.

How many odd-man rushes did he face? Zero, that I saw. How many shots where he was screened and couldnt see? I counted one all game, and that includes the long 2-man advantage. How many deflections did he face? Zero. How many shots from the slot? How many cross-crease plays?

The Leafs got a lot of shots, that doesn't mean they were good opportunities. Our best opportunities never even resulted in a shot on goal.

There plenty of shots from the slot (check out ESPN's gamecast), I know Kulemin had at least one deflection on net, and there were at least a few screened shots. We did use too many Frattin-type shots, but had enough decent chances to win the game.

The better team won... nothing more to say. Miller is the man!

3 years ago Kadri was nowhere near ready for the NHL. 2 years ago Kadri was nowhere near ready for the NHL. 1 year ago he was closer, but still not ready for the NHL. See the trend?

Kadri got NHL time, which showed he wasnt ready. So far this year he's showing otherwise. Lets not forget that he once or twice before had a stretch of 2 or 3 NHL games where he played really well and scored a couple goals, only to fall off completely.

We can not win these type of low scoring games with scrivens playing. We can not even score with scrivens playing in front of the net. He has to be pulled and traded. We need other players (goalies).

Pittsburgh game has already been lost.

What would be the result of that game?

6-2 Pens?

I didn't realize that there were goalies out there that had the ability to snipe from their crease or did you plan on acquiring Russ Tyler?

Crossbar and miller snuffed us tonight. Entertaining game to say the least. Kadri was great, thought Lupul was picking it up also near the end. Everybody's really hating on the Grabo line, i mean they started slow but i thought they really picked up and had some quality chances. you must also remember with the Grabo line, they are rarely in our own zone.

heh. yeah, it was Tim Brent and Rickard Wallin who were NHL-ready instead!
