The game was over when Kapanen did... whatever the f*** that waiver wire move in the neutral zone was. This team does a lot of stupid shit that finally is starting to get exposed.

It’s at the point where all three of Kapanen, Brown and Janmark need to be replaced. All three are managing the puck like complete f***ing morons and it isn’t getting better.

How do you build a roster without an energy line? On nights like tonight (most nights recently, tbh) where the offence is struggling, how can you expect to regain some momentum if you’ve got nobody in the lineup that can throw a big hit. It’s not like we’ve got a goalie that can make a big save for an energy boost either. We’ve either “got it” or we don’t and the more we get into the season the more tired we look the fewer nights we “have it”.
Just a terribly constructed roster this year and we’re left to hope that some kind of life can be injected into it at the trade deadline.

That's what happens when you play against the trap when down by a few goals. The Oilers did that to opposing teams when they were playing well back in december as well.

Unfortunately for the Oilers, scoring first or getting out of the first with the lead(like they did against Philly) doesn't matter for this team because the goaltending will just let in goals on just about any given shot.

They were doing that when they were winning. That's what caused the first goal against. They play braindead hockey. Three separate players turned the puck over in the exact same way. How stupid are these players?

We are a worse team this year with no assets and Savoie being literally the only young player we have with potential (that is close to the NHL)

The entire bottom six is an absolute gong show yet again. How does this team struggle to acquire depth forwards?

KK won’t play him because he hits. If you hit, that means you’re chasing the game. KK wants players like Brown and Kapanen. Kane will be stapled to the bench or the press box.

The league has video scouting and everyone knows how to take advantage of our shortcomings, and we’re playing good teams on this trip.

In an odd way, the team getting spanked the next two might be the best thing that can happen to us.

Might force an even bigger shake up than simple additions. I think both goalies need to go, and probably need to move out some of the ass in the bottom 6 too.

We need a life injection here, not just nipping around the edges. Shock therapy is required, because like always this group is comfortable just being comfortable.

Not sure how much room they have to make much happen.

I'd like to see Knoblauch get his head out of his ass and stop scapegoating J.Skinner, stop playing Podzinkin in the top six, press box kapanen etc. There are a lot of little things going around the team right now that are making everything seem worse due to players playing out of position in roles they aren't suited for.

Yeah that’s bullshit too, this team has fought back again and again against the odds. Colorado, Vegas, Dallas, etc all of them would fall apart if you subjected them to year after year of piss poor goaltending or an ancient Mike Smith as the best case scenario.

These guys have worked their ass off the last 2-3 years really coming back again and again from getting kicked in the gut.

This do nothing management should be ashamed of themselves.

Okay, it's at least a little bit funny that we got shut out 5 on 5 after stupidly scratching one of our best 5 on 5 scorers. I think Knob has lost the plot a bit.

Well...that IMO had nothing at all to do with this loss. Jeff Skinner isnt going to move the needle at all especially on the PK where this team is dismal.
T-Bay put on a clinic on how to defend and Edmonton was a defenisve shit show.
Once again the final score flattered the Oilers.

This particular defensive shit show (and there have been more than a few in 2025) had Bouchard leading the way. Really glad that Sportsnet highlighted Bouchards play between periods. He causually skates back in his own zone watching Tampa create scoring chances.
He should have been benched...again.

It didnt stop there though...the entire team was embarrassing.
This team isnt anything close to a contender right now. Completely uninspired hockey.
Holland certainly made some bad decisions but WTF has Jeff Jackson done with this team?
Old, slow and disinterested seems pretty accurate right now.
