The goaltending will just get blamed on the defense. It already is.

Not that the defense isn’t shit too, but it will get trotted out as the reason I’m sure.
Yeah, that could very well happen.

I just hope some of the recent rumors that Edmonton has been looking at a switch might have some legs to it.

The way they're playing it won't matter. They got completely punked and were lucky to not lose by more... again.

How many times this game did they try and skate through players in the neutral zone only to give the puck away?

In an odd way, the team getting spanked the next two might be the best thing that can happen to us.

Might force an even bigger shake up than simple additions. I think both goalies need to go, and probably need to move out some of the ass in the bottom 6 too.

We need a life injection here, not just nipping around the edges. Shock therapy is required, because like always this group is comfortable just being comfortable.

Half of this loss is Knob alone. He's like Dr. Moreau with his line structure. His accountability capability is completely flawed. He almost never gives J.Skin a legit chance to play his game. He completely shits on him. Knob looks like he's lost the dressing room to me. I still cannot believe how stupid his line juggling looks.

Our goaltending is absolutely a joke.

The chemistry went AFK.

The intensity is not there.

They look like a bad team even a few games before the break.

Plus we have a clueless GM with the worst rep in the league.

Things are not looking good at all.

Mattias Janmark was the 4th highest forward in ice time at 15 minutes. Terrible coaching by Knob.
Sending Janmark out to take the face-off on the 5 on 3 penalty kill was an atrocious decision too. Nuge and Drai were in the box and Henrique just got off the ice. Either call a timeout so that Henrique can go back out there or make McDavid take the face-off. I don't care that he's not a regular penalty killer, you can't concede the face-off in that situation.

a complete mess....worse than October Oilers

- Leon the only one trying out there...a leader
- Skinner needed to make that save on the 2nd goal
- McDavid isn't doing enough...9 games in a row without a 5-on-5 point
- Bouchard is rancid...borderline unplayable
- Arvidsson, Henrique, Kapanen, Podz...just a ton of "do nothing" garbage in the bottom 6

maybe a game against Florida wakes them up

How do you build a roster without an energy line? On nights like tonight (most nights recently, tbh) where the offence is struggling, how can you expect to regain some momentum if you’ve got nobody in the lineup that can throw a big hit. It’s not like we’ve got a goalie that can make a big save for an energy boost either. We’ve either “got it” or we don’t and the more we get into the season the more tired we look the fewer nights we “have it”.
Just a terribly constructed roster this year and we’re left to hope that some kind of life can be injected into it at the trade deadline.

Management doesn't care, dude. Like Holland, Bowman got handed the keys to a job he didn't deserve and is just going to ride it out. After the offer sheet fiasco someone should've lost their job.

Get rid of Knob, how the f*** can you decide to scratch Skinner while keeping absolute nothings like Arvy, Hyman, Pod, Henrique in the lineup. And for god sakes f***ing scratch Bouch for a week at least. What the f*** is wrong with this coaching staff? He should have been scratched after the Philly game but he's stayed in, giving about 10 terrible in zone giveaways up in since then. 15 seconds in tonight absolute meatball in the slot, later actually loses his stick on another meatball, and this guy is still seeing a regular shift? Just a f***ing embarrassment. The coaches need to make a f***ing statement here and scratch a few guys who actually matter.

16-4 were the HDSC for the Bolts in this game. They generated nothing.
Game was over as soon as Skinner let in that weak as shit wrap around goal that an ECHL goalie would have stopped. Team is tired of that shit, they’ve played a lot of hockey the last 15 months and having shit goalies this year was not part of the deal.

The game was over when Kapanen did... whatever the f*** that waiver wire move in the neutral zone was. This team does a lot of stupid shit that finally is starting to get exposed.

Objects are farther away than they appear.

Got a look at how a Cup level team prepares, executes, and works as a collective towards a common goal. And then there are the Oilers. This roster isn't good enough with significant holes across all position areas. Puck management issues are rampant. Own mistakes commonplace. Little sustained offensive pressure and strange tendencies to pass out of high danger areas. High volume low calorie shot count but the critical shooting percentage is underwater.

High variance in play quality is not an attribute of true elite Cup contenders.

That's what happens when you play against the trap when down by a few goals. The Oilers did that to opposing teams when they were playing well back in december as well.

Unfortunately for the Oilers, scoring first or getting out of the first with the lead(like they did against Philly) doesn't matter for this team because the goaltending will just let in goals on just about any given shot.

It feels like I'm going through a drinking problem.

I just noticed Arvidsson threw his hands up in the air and Nuge slammed the boards with his stick when Skinner allowed that 2nd goal

Exactly, the players are done with that garbage. A bad GA every night minimum gets soul crushing after a while. This is the NHL, you don’t have the luxury of giving other teams gifts every night.

Honestly, a root canal is not as bad as watching a game and I’m absolutely serious. You get anaesthetic during a root canal. You don’t get anaesthetic watching an Oilers game.
