My son was there and said the building was stupid loud entire game starting a half hour before game started , great playoff atmosphere that fired them up and still only one goal game , quick was awesome and we were a bounce or two away , and 29 was Awesome and we need to get into his head some and take away is vision . Never can tell these things but it looks like a long series ,it's. funny same people who say you can't look back to 2012 2014 instantly go back to 2016 even though the feel and the team are completely different and last night was nowhere near any of those games even the game we won we didn't play that well , if you thought we were going to sweep you did a disjustice to the knights ,good team and coach and great goalie

This is where I wish Toffoli was smarter sometime. Brown his hiding just out of view and all 4 Vegas guys are focused on the puck. Instead of passing right back to Kopitar like he does, all he has to do is get it to Brown and now they have options. You know like passing to Carter in front. Vegas totally forgot about Brown . :(

Saw this too, agreed.

I am worried about STevens in a playoff series and I have been. I don't see him making good adjustments. Gallant is gonna coach circles around him. But none of that will matter if the guys don't win their own battles to make the Xs-and-Ox more than a formality on the whiteboard.
I seem to have read more than once that Gallant isn’t great at adjusting either. Dunno how true that is though. Guess we’re gonna find out. :)

I dunno, he adjusted in the third period for sure last night, the Knights played a different game in the 2nd period, kind of let the Kings dictate etc, but the third period they adjusted, could have been they adjusted back to their game plan, but not all adjustments are flat out changes etc,

it was mentioned earlier: kopi was in a bad physical shape. he was slow, i mean very slow. the spirit and the mind were there, but it seemed like the body was not listening. i hope it was just a bad day.

overall i'm not worried, there's plenty of room for improvement and i'm sure it will get only better. also vegas didn't impress me much. they're not a bad team, but not scary either.

With all the whining and diving from them in that game, I think we can rattle them some more too. Especially when the crying comes down from the top.

It's not crying when he's right. It was a bad hit. Got Carrier right in the head. Had Doughty not brushed Carrier's shoulder before the head, we'd be worried about a suspension right now. Can you imagine how badly the Kings would get crushed without Doughty on the ice?

You wouldn't be able to count the number of posters "crying" about the lack of a penalty or suspension on this board if the situation were reversed.

I don't understand Kopitar at all sometimes. Twice last night he was in the slot on his forehand with some traffic around Fleury, and twice he failed to even get a shot off. He needs to quit worrying about making the perfect play or getting his teammates "involved" and shoot the damn puck. The goalie interference penalty on Brown was a direct result of Kopitar screwing around and not shooting the puck when Brown was screening Fleury.

Thought the Kings looked better as the game wore on. My only issue with the game is the lack of puck possession that was our identity and misfiring on grade A chances. I was expecting the game to be more chippy than it was with all the “rivalry” hype pregame. I suspect that will change in game 2.

And let’s be honest, we had AHL defenseman paired with Doughty and Phaneuf. They held up for the most part but we really need Muzzin back. Hopefully Forbort comes back in this series as well.

I feel good about game 2, come out physical and start getting in their heads. We take that game and it’s a whole different series and puts the Vegas team in a vulnerable position.

It sucks he's hurt but about time someone on the team sent a message. Carrier was running guys all night. Live by the sword die by the sword. If it happened to Doughty and he was running around like Carrier I wouldn't have been shocked in the least bit. Sucks it had to be done by a star player but glad someone took the reins on that one.

true. i guess he felt the pressure a bit too much, after all it was his first game in the playoffs with C on his shoulder. and it resulted as it did. if he's not sick or something i'm sure he'll bounce back in style.

The whole team was slow. They weren't invested in the game. Flipping the puck out. Hitting with the upper body, not driving with the legs. It was hope Quick keeps them in it, and maybe get a bounce. That's all they had.

Per SportsCentre via Twitter, Doughty to have a hearing for the illegal hit to the head.

If he sits, we're f-d for sure. Does anyone know if Doughty is a repeat offender? If not, would that effect the outcome?

I'd be surprised if Doughty gets anything more than a fine. Seemed like a full body hit that was attempted, but Carrier got the worst of it due to his body posture as he was leaning forward while Doughty had already committed to the hit.

Same thing we got on Muzzin for when he put himself in a more vulnerable position to get hit in the upper body when he lowered himself when he shouldn't have.

Slightly different, I don't think Doughty was targeting anything other than a full body hit, but his angle and timing were off, that caused him to glance the shoulder and nail the head, I expect a fine, but not an actual suspension

I don't think Doughty has ever had a meeting with the Department of Player Safety.

Well there goes game 2 if he's suspended

I don't know which was dumber. Doughty throwing a tantrum in the third period with a 3-1 lead or throwing a shoulder into an opponent's head during Game 1.

I don't think he'll get suspended because there was contact with Carrier's shoulder before the head, but he deserves one. The fact that it's during the playoffs will also play a role.

I also don't like Doughty's obvious embellishment and dive early in the game. Could have earned two minutes for that.

Doughty played a fabulous game, but he needs to get his head screwed on right if he wants to win.
