This still felt very different than 2016 though. Definitely no lack of heart tonight, mostly just a lack of execution, guys were hitting like madmen. And one bounce and we're not recalling that series at all.

This one is going the distance. Buckle up.

Yup. Kings had better oppurtinies in my opinion. Just awful execution. That will change we have the better talent. Ebbs and flows. Only game one.

Kings got a smackdown in 2016...lost in FIVE games. 5 + 1 = 6.

I think it's very relevant...if I was on that 2016 team, I would hope that series still gave me chills and I'd be really fired up for redemption. It's taken them two years to get back to the dance, and they took a turd on their return. That does not bode well for the rest of the series.

Two teams on the ice. Knights were at home and jacked. Crowd was into it, its vegas energy etc. Game 1 was always going to be tough. Kings have to settle down though and play their own game. Too much panic in puck battle and chasing in own zone. Kings really getting out of position and then puck support not there to advance puck.

In the CBC telecast they made a comment that Doughty and the Kings get better in a physical contest. Tonight I felt that the Kings kind of got over excited instead of letting the game come. There were nerves out there, more for the Kings.

lol 127 hits recorded. That's stupidly exaggerated. I think it was the Islanders vs someone in 2014 when they had something like 50 hits combined the entire 7 game series.

Well deserved hit. Should have been Karlsson

Don't get me wrong it was probably a borderline hit, but I haven't seen a bigger bunch of cowards looking to get bailed out by the refs since Nashville, yet Gallant saw fit to complain to the media after game 1.

For all the whining about the Doughty hit which I thought was just a solid open ice hit the Tuch hit on Doughty was late, from behind, and put Doughty into the boards That was a worse hit in every way. The refs lose some control in the game and cause the subsequent heated play because they don't make that call. That was a penalty.

Gallant is just playing coaching games trying to milk a future call. Stevens could talk about the Tuch hit.

Vegas was toeing the line all night with their hits. Surprise their ill tempered coach is bitching already. If that hit upsets gallant already, throw more of it, at their better players. Boom rattled, Sharks circa 2014

Just in case anyone doubts the magnificence of Drew Doughty and the impact of missing Muzzin--Kings were 42.55 CF% as a team. Drew Doughty was 59.57% for a 34.04 CF%rel, and was also on for 66% of the high danger corsi for, 26.67 relative to team. Despite the toughest zone starts and an AHL partner.

Fantenberg, his partner of course, was right behind him, but beyond that--the next best d-man was Phaneuf at 35.71%.

Drew's pretty important.

I just don't understand the lack of changes by Stevens tonight. Why not try Carter with Kopitar a few shifts? Why is Fantenberg with Doughty the ENTIRE game even strength? Two personnel moves. Pearson for Iafallo and Phaneuf for Folin. That's it.

I'm not sure what game Tyson Nash was watching, but he makes it sound like the Kings got run out of the building by Vegas's speed. Speed was not an issue.

I missed the game, yay work. Any updates on muzzin? How did Iafallo look, back to his normal hustle?

You're really toxic. I don't understand why you come here attacking people with differing opinions..
Considering anyone that has a differing opinion than you is toxic in your mind, I'm not to concerned about your feelings.

With all the whining and diving from them in that game, I think we can rattle them some more too. Especially when the crying comes down from the top.

The dude was leaning down with the puck , Doughty made contact with his shoulder first. It was such a non issue, nobody brought it up until the presser. FSW didn't even show or mention it at all if I remember.

This is where I wish Toffoli was smarter sometime. Brown his hiding just out of view and all 4 Vegas guys are focused on the puck. Instead of passing right back to Kopitar like he does, all he has to do is get it to Brown and now they have options. You know like passing to Carter in front. Vegas totally forgot about Brown . :(

I got 2016 playoff vibes from the lack of any form of strategy in Game 1. And of course the team looking completely flat offensively.

The only positive to takeaway was Quick, the PK was solid, and the defense held up despite missing 2 of its top 4 dmen.

Thank you for adding the image. I was wondering why the hell is the moron passing towards Kopitar when he had a crowd in front of him?

I'm so fed up with Toffoli at this point. Ship his ass for a player who isn't afraid of getting hit and is willing to get his nose dirty to score some goals.

Looked like the typical Kings team that hasn't played in a week. Nobody had their legs. Maybe the 4th line. Maybe a shift here and there from various players. You want to think that's not going to happen for a playoff game, but, at some point it is just another game on the schedule.

Toffoli had a team and game high of 6 shots? Talk about inflated stats.

Hopefully they'll have some more energy in all zones on Friday. A very blah effort overall, but what can ya do? It's one game.

Everybody's doom and gloom out of the system?

That was a rusty Kings team going up against a loose, playing for the home crowd Knights, Knights have NOTHING to lose at this point, no one expected them here, they played like it last night, they played a really really good home game, and still, 1-0, against a Kings team missing two top 4 D.

Kings only had what, a handful of chances where they went pass stupid and didn't shoot the puck, I expect game 2 them to be firing it a bit more.

Fantenberg actually looked solid out there, he had two questionable plays, the one where he got beat on the outside and recovered but almost took a penalty, and the other where he absolutely got smoked because he was indecisive with the puck and waited.

LaDue looked good early, but faltered later on getting beat behind the net on some board battles,

I liked the Kempe-Lewis-Pearson/Iafallo line earlier on, but in this game, Kempe was the only dangerous one out there, for that line.

I do think they need to sit Mitchell and bring in Amadio, only thing is, Mitchell PKs and Amadio does not, but I think Amadio gives you more offensive options that you will need.

Other than that, it was great game to watch even though it didn't fall LAs way.
