that 20 play drive is going to haunt us

end of the day for this team its about january/february not september and nothing about today looked like anything other than... teams dont go undefeated

josh doesnt miss open receivers in the end zone
diggs doesnt drop passes in the last 2 minutes
davis doesnt drop touchdowns
teams dont play with 7 defensive starters and 3 oline starters injured
bass doesnt miss fgs
and teams dont botch both snaps to end the first and second half

if 1 of those things happened it would be a story line

if all of those things happened you'd think the team lost by 20

19-21 final

500 yards to 250, teams dont lose those games, fluke loss, eventually the coin lands the other way
Yep. If you play that same game 10 times, the Bills win it 9. They dominated the stats. Had 2x the yards. Offense had possession for 40 minutes.

Just a fluky loss.

They were missing like 1/2 the damn team and STILL almost won! There’s at least 5 different mistakes you can point to by the Bills that each one directly cost them the game. One less mistake and they win.

-not getting the field goal off before the end of the 1st half.
-bass missing a FG
-not getting the FG off at the end of the game.
-Davis dropping a TD
-Allen dirting an easy TD pass to McKenzie.
-blown coverage on waddle.
-quessenberry holding penalty knocking them out of FG range.

Not scared or maimi.

Buffalo still needs to get a consistent run game. I know, when you have a weapon like Allen, you like to use it. But....not being able to get a 1st and goal on the two vs a gassed miami defense is a problem.
Yeah, that's concerning but, to be fair- we were down to 3rd stringers on the O line by the end of the game.

That being said- Until they prove they can consistently run the ball, then I'll always have a slight concern there. Just need the same productivity they got out of Singletary to end the year last year, and they'll be good!

Edit:

Also, is this the first time a player from UB played a down for the Bills?

Cam Lewis is the most recent of memory.

Ingram also was at Texas Tech and transferred to UB

We only have one guy out for the year so far.

It wouldn't shock me if Oliver, Poyer and Morse all play against Baltimore.

As of right now.....when we're fully healthy, we're still one of the favorites for the title.

It's much better for these injuries to happen now than right before the playoffs. We have some cap space to play with and rarely spend our draft capital, so fixing some of these issues in season is certainly possible.

Problem with injuries is that having them now does not mean they won't happen later, but I get what you are saying.

We almost beat the Finns despite playing a bunch of our 2nd and 3rd stringers, having some shit luck, and having a slow ass ref not getting the ball down for a spike. Also, that botched play at the end of half - imagine if we got a FG off? Or the missed FG itself? Just a lot of low probability trash happening.

I have a calm that comes from knowing that an early season loss isn't some symptom of a major flaw in the team. I still consider us better than anyone except the Cheifs (not sure how feel about them). Let those Finn fans gloat it up, they barely beat us with a ton going their way all day.

So you measure the health of a team solely by looking at how many players are out for the entire season? I hate to break it to you but there's more than one injured player right now, and the timeline for them to all be healthy isn't anytime soon.

I am unconcerned with our immediate health.

My large concern is our health come December and January and February. Right now, we only have one player scheduled to be out that long (Hyde).

After the bye, we can beat most teams on the schedule even with a relatively major non-Allen injury.

The timeline for our players to all be healthy "isn't anytime soon"??? What??? Look at our injured players:

Oliver -- almost played last week
Poyer -- almost played last week
Morse -- almost played last week
Benford -- can play if he's OK with a club

Phillips and Jackson are unknown......but Jackson's health matters a LOT less now that we're hopefully nearing the return of Tre. And Phillips? He's a good role player, but we can do without him for a bit if needed.

We're a Super Bowl-caliber team unless all of these injuries stick with us all year. Right now, the ONLY long-term injury we have is Hyde and maybe possibly Jackson.

Given that Tre is out at least another week, I imagine unless the pain is too bad Benford will be in.
Why assume Dane is out another week? If no structural damage as reported, I would assume it is more mental and being ready to drop a shoulder with confidence?

Until these players are 100%, I'd be concerned. Certainly don't want to rush anyone back and have something that is a minor issue become a long term issue.

We really have nothing on either yet, going to have to wait until we officially see the status.

Overall, if we can get to the bye week at 4-2, we'd be in good shape. That means beating Pittsburgh at home and splitting between Baltimore/KC.

After the green bay game (Which we will have on a week rest), if we can be 5-2, that would mean:

NE 2x
NYJ 2x
@ Detroit
@ Chicago
Minny
Cleveland
@ Cincy
Miami

And 5 of those games will be at home. And all the travel will be pretty light. I think the longest flight is two hours.

I don't even remember Doyle getting injured. All 3 weeks it seems like there is a mystery injury. Settle, Poyer, Doyle, etc.

I believe this is already multiple concussions in Bates' Bills career. Considering he hasn't even been on the field all that much, is a little bit scary.
