Johnsons are forcing him to stay in (EDIT: there's a Michael Scott joke in there somewhere.)

There is literally no other sane explanation.
The sane explanation is that the coach still needs to support the players on his roster because burying him helps nobody.

You and I disagree on Salah's level of job security, because no sane person on the planet puts their job in the hands of Lt. Col. MILFHunter unless they're forced to.

You see the way this team comes out...they come out totally dejected.

It's a labor negotiation thing. It's all speculation until the snaps are played. So if Zach Wilson doesn't prove himself a bust, the players union can pounce on him as an "aggrieved laborer" who wasn't given a fair shot to prove himself a success or failure.

I suspect that's why other former 1st rounders still latch on until the can't any more.

Even if that's true if I'm Saleh and I'm fighting for my job I don't give a shit.

Zach Wilson does NOT give the Jets the best chance to win. He already lost the locker room last year and everyone knows it. The very second that Rodgers went down the Jets should have been calling every single team, every single available QB, and exhausted every single option. Somebody, anybody. They might not get it done, but there would at least be hope.

Playing Wilson is, make no mistake, punting on the entire season. Period. And there's too much goddamn talent on that roster to justify that approach.

Every QB post Lawrence doesn’t look great. Wilson, Lance, Fields. Jones you can see is decent but limited. Game manager.
Mond, Trask, Mills, Book, Ehlinger were the rest.

And that was a hyped QB class, too.

Lawrence is the only one of those guys I'm confident that he can work it out at some point, and he was supposed to be the best prospect since at least Andrew Luck.

Agreed. That's why anyone past Williams/Maye in this year's draft class, be it Nix, Pennix, Ewers, Sanders, etc. I'd take with a grain of salt. Maybe it's Burrow, Tua, Herbert class. I mean, we also got Baker, Darnold, Rosen to go with Allen & Jackson in another 5 QB first round as well.

I would say it's highly dependent on what team drafts you, and it is, but there's so much grey area.

If you watch Zach Wilson play, if you really analyze it, you'd think he's never played the position before. He literally doesn't know how to read a defense or get rid of the football on time. At all. "Deer in the headlights" is an understatement. It's truly remarkable. He's like a much worse version of Sam Darnold, and I don't mean promising rookie Sam Darnold, I mean post-Adam-Gase-Brain-Raped Sam Darnold.

I don’t think he’s in danger while being tied to Rodgers unless Joe Douglas is axed, which then changes everything. But he doesn’t have another quarterback so there’s not much Saleh can do.

After 2 weeks CB Trevon Diggs had a QBR against of 1. Spiking the ball gives the QB a 40 QBR for that play.

It really is dependent on where you go. So, if you are someone who needs work reading defences and going through progressions, you will die at the NFL unless you somehow land on a team with excellent coaching, which is not likely if they are drafting high. Not every great coordinator will be a great HC.

If they truly have no other choice, which I don't buy, then they should try to scheme an offense catered to Wilson's "strengths", which means up-tempo, simple reads and motion.

They don't do that. It's run, run, and pass short of the sticks on 3rd and long. Opposing defenses dare Wilson to beat them and stack the box to stop the run, and he simply can't do that. That locker room broke last year and it's going to break even worse this year if they don't change something drastically and quickly. It will be full-on mutiny and there will be no turning back.

I realize people on this site think I'm over-dramatic. This is indeed true. This time though, I truly don't believe I'm being a drama queen...they can't keep throwing Wilson out there with this offense or their attendance is going to fall off a cliff. Maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah I've always been a fan of a QB sitting and learning but with the CBA the way it is, it's not really the reality anymore if you're a high pick. You take your lumps as a rookie but by year 2 you better not be making rookie mistakes with frequency.

I think it's more important than ever that a QB is in the right situation in the NCAA, because he has less time to adjust to the NFL than he once did.

Maybe also kids should be staying that extra year in college vs go to the NFL. Wilson, could have gone back with the Covid year given to players. Jones, was maxed out, as he wasn't going to be better than what he is now.

Lance & Fields, needed to be more challenged. Lance should have stayed in school and transferred to a bigger program. Fields, he'd return to a stacked OSU team, that CJ Stroud led in 2021. He's still throwing to wide open WR. I don't know if he gets much better at his weaknesses.

In this draft, Nix and Pennix will be over 3 year starters. Ewers, if he came out, would have maybe a couple more starts than Fields due to his injury last season. Maye would be a 2 year guy at NC. Williams a 2.5 year guy. Dart from Ole Miss a 2.5 year guy. So, most of the guys who are rumoured to go round 1 are not a Wilson, Trubisky, Haskins, Lance, being a 1 year starter.

What’s their option though? Carson Wentz? Colt McCoy? They’re better off waiting and hoping Cousins or Tannehill shake free.
