Exactly. Not only that, but it's not fair to the defense if the referee annoucned #70 is eligible and then #68 catches the pass. He wasn't announced as eligible, so why would they guard him?The entire point of the setup is to create confusion around the ref. Doing it in a low time situation, in a lout stadium, and then not listening to the refs public announcement of what he believes you told him (announcing 70 as eligible instead of 68), and then blaming the ref is stupid.
That makes sense because he had no reason to report. But then who does the ref think he's talking to?
This is what you get when you have stupid f***ing esoteric rules between illegal formations and fumbling the ball in the end zone
I hate the Cowboys, but I believe the Lions players are lying.
The Lions are screwing themselves in future games. Refs are far more powerful than any team and enough goes on in games that they can pick and choose who wins.
And yet, he did go up to the ref, along with a 3rd player. What's he doing there? What do you think Decker is talking to ref about then? Skipper being a guard, he shouldn't be reporting at all.

They list Skipper as a tackle on the websites. A tackle usually doesn't line up at guard because the skillset needed is different enough. What do you think Decker is talking to ref about then? Skipper being a guard, he shouldn't be reporting at all.
If Detroit heard #70 being announced then they should have corrected the official. He didn’t announce a number that was not On the field. 70 was also on the field so Detroit needed to get that right.Exactly. Who knows if he's open if the referee actually announces #68 as eligible.
Officials don't have the roster off the website on hand during the game. They list Skipper as a tackle on the websites. A tackle usually doesn't line up at guard because the skillset needed is different enough.
According to Decker, he said the word "report", which makes it even stupider to surround the refs with 3 players in a noisy environment. If Detroit heard #70 being announced then they should have corrected the official. He didn’t announce a number that was not On the field. 70 was also on the field so Detroit needed to get that right.
My understanding is that when OL report as eligible they raise their hand and basically draw an O on their belly to signify that they are eligible.
It's not crooked. It's a rule book that is unnecessarily complicated and continually screwed up by refs who often aren't doing good jobs. It's chaos.I can't believe betting on the bent ass crooked NFL is so massive. They barely even try to hide it.

Creating ambiguity and confusion. I have dealt with out of context and omitted info. It can work in certain judgment situations. The Lions are digging themselves a grave with this because every second is on tape. And yet, he did go up to the ref, along with a 3rd player. What's he doing there?
It doesn't matter if they get a W-2 or not. Their role and powers are similar to a judge. They know they have complete power to enforce even if the call is screwed up. They will still screw things up.Who aren't even full time employees.
How are they digging themselves a grave by explaining how the red screwed up?Creating ambiguity and confusion. I have dealt with out of context and omitted info. It can work in certain judgment situations. The Lions are digging themselves a grave with this because every second is on tape.
If 70 went first to the ref, he's the eligible guy.
The subsequent approaches can only be viewed as an artifice to gain fan sympathy, especially with the anti-Cowboys crowd.
Football being a business, everybody in the team has little lawyering rub off on themselves, all of the people there.
That's not how it works. In fact I believe #70 was the last guy to approach the official, while the two tackles walked up together. If anything the 3rd guy (the other tackle that approached the official) was the 1st guy to the officialCreating ambiguity and confusion. I have dealt with out of context and omitted info.
