And according to Marner they are a great team doing great things...who are we to argue with his hard earned wisdom?

Barring a coaching change, might have to pull a 2017 Tampa and just decide to retool by selling off assets that don't have a future here.I just fast forward to the most extreme conclusion that they are a borderline to non playoff team this year and will probably be in a very bad place in the standings after the Winnipeg games. It’s disappointing but seems like that’s probably the outcome here.
This next stretch of games are against teams that are trying to make playoffsI'm so glad the Leafs no longer have Kyle Dubas making them a great regular-season team anymore, which doesn't even matter anyway.
It feels much more familiar, at best, to be fighting for that eighth and final playoff spot.
Now they may as well axe Shanahan too because a string of seven straight playoff appearances is also meaningless, and without more playoff series wins they might as well just fall back into missing those as well as none of that matters.
Shit, it sucked to have a great regular-season team, eh?
Making the playoffs year-after-year, who gives a shit about that either?
Fire them all! Shanahan. Treliving. Keefe. Laurence Gilman. Wes Clarke. Hayley Wickenheiser. The entire coaching staff and front office! Leafs and Marlies -- they all suck!
Dump all those overpaid star players too! Who needs those assholes that make so much money anyway? No team has ever won with so many well-paid players -- like it'll never happen! Get rid of everyone making too much money! That would be better.
Let's start again from scratch!
He is not wrong. The issue is that, in the same game, they did some dumb things too. They found a way to lose the games now, just like the OTT, BUF or Oilers in the early season. And according to Marner they are a great team doing great things...who are we to argue with his hard earned wisdom?
Yes, I think the Leafs have a whole lot of losing left in them. The team is doing very poorly, and I think they're even in jeopardy of missing the playoffs. This next stretch of games are against teams that are trying to make playoffs
These games are hard on the Leafs defenceman bigtime
They are going too miss the playoffs. Book it.there’s a genuine fear and chance that the leafs could ACTUALLY miss the playoffs. very concerning.
It's kind of looking that way, but there's still a lot of hockey to play. They are going too miss the playoffs. Book it.
I agree. This team looks like they have given up. They look mentally defeated. It's kind of looking that way, but there's still a lot of hockey to play.
Making or not making the playoffs -- neither outcome is certain, that's for sure.
I liked it better the other way. Then at least the Leafs had a better chance of progressing.
It's a very competitive league, is all I can say.
Keefe has never been good at bringing the best out of players. Everyone that plays for him generally has played or plays better elsewhere. Keefe is coaching his players around a system instead of a system around his players. It's absurd that we allowed a rookie coach to be hired by a rookie GM. Talk about arrogance.Currently at 50 points, and 3rd in the Atlantic, but slipping (3 losses and 1 loser point recently). 4-4-2 in their last 10. What bothers me is the +12 goal differential.
Detroit are absolutely on their heels now. (49 points and +11 goal differential). 6-3-1 in their last 10.
Most grounded people felt that TOR were not going to be as good this Regular season, but they would make the playoffs.
We are halfway through the season and it's gut check time.
I do not believe for a second that Treliving made those offseason acquisitions to be a below average team.
Toronto only has 1 key injured player now in Woll. Gio is back. Liljegren is back. Samsonov is not injured, but he is losing the confidence in his ability battle.
Let's forget about Klingberg and Reaves because they have been non factors for a while now.
What about Bertuzzi and Domi. Domi has had a pretty inconsistent career, but Bertuzzi should be a lot better. 1 goal in 22 games is not going to get him a retirement contract any time soon. He has to be a lot better.
Nylander & Tavares need to be better too.
Is this Leaf team going to make the playoffs?
How will this play out? Wait and see & then re-tool next season?
Would be the best thing for this organization.there’s a genuine fear and chance that the leafs could ACTUALLY miss the playoffs. very concerning.
Seattle and Calgary on the outside but Vancouver and Winnipeg are 1 and 2 in the leagueThis next stretch of games are against teams that are trying to make playoffs
These games are hard on the Leafs defenceman bigtime
We have 4 of the most expensive 11 players in the league but if the were truly 4 of the best we wouldn’t be having this conversation about how awful we are right now. We also wouldn’t be sitting here with one round win in the last 7 yearsThis team isn’t bad enough to miss the playoffs. We have 4 of the 11 best players in all of hockey..right?
So you are happy with the team……..NO!
Amen! Find some other idiot with a better record! Preferably someone whose never missed the playoffs and wins the Stanley Cup every year -- or at least every other year -- because we've had too much of losing! Bunch of rotten losers!
Trade, buy out or terminate everyone making more than $9 million dollars! Those big contracts kill you, you can't fill out a roster! Nobody wins with too many big contracts anyways!
Hallelujah! It was much better before Shanahan arrived and the Leafs had never made the playoffs on the salary-cap era. Making the playoffs every year is soooo overrated!
We hate mediocrity! Let's fire everyone in the organization, raze the arena, demand new ownership and start from scratch!
Yes! NO MEDIOCRITY! NO MEDIOCRITY! NO MEDIOCRITY! NEVER!
Are you doing OK?NO!

I was being sarcastic. They aren’t awful though, they’re not great either, just floating in the middle, which is worseWe have 4 of the most expensive 11 players in the league but if the were truly 4 of the best we wouldn’t be having this conversation about how awful we are right now. Sorry man I read it wrong.I was being sarcastic. They aren’t awful though, they’re not great either, just floating in the middle, which is worse
I have a feeling he’s a certain T word on here.Are you doing OK?
I think these guys will find a way to bail out Keefe.I think we'll be 9th in the division, after the Western Swing. We aren't playing well, every one of the teams we are playing are on a hot streak.
Honestly though, I'm not worried about the standings, we need some changes to really succeed, so it doesn't matter much if we slip into the playoffs.... we aren't going anywhere.
4 Players now inked for 10m+
50/50 Team (+Loser points)
Unreal.
