The whole point of the thing is the needle moving on the picks. You go all in on trades/moves for extra picks but you tank for those few top picks.

Korch, Bedard, Lev and _______ are Davidson's Mt. Rushmore, IMO. Bedard you can only give him credit in how bad the team was because every GM was making that pick. So how these other guys pan out is where judgement begins.

If Kyle hits on a few guys outside the top 10, okay, but how many and how good are they? Even when the Hawks couldn't sniff a top draft pick we still hit on a few players in the first couple rounds. Going to need a lot of run support here given at least 2 of Davidson's 4 top pics are D so far.

The other thing I think about is that it sucks after drafting first overall that getting second overall next year didn't take any heat off Bedard. All the attention is on him because the other top picks are D marinating in the AHL.

I hope we draft a stud this year and the kid can play next year.

By next year enough time will have elapsed that we need to see a positive roi on Nazar and Korchinski, see tangible progress from Lev, and also see a couple of Lardis/Boisvert etc. picks take those next steps. I’m unclear on Kantserov’s timing, but that can also heavily tip the scales one way or the other.

No more geriatric placeholder signings this offseason, I can’t take it any more. Get Bedard a true top liner.

If we’re just as stuck in the mud this time next season, that should be it for Kyle.
KD also cannot sit on sideline when some younger player becomes malcontent and wants out of current org. He needs to hit a homerun when those situations arise..ala Askarov and Gauthier

its Schaefer or Misa or bust for me. If we land outside top 2 pick I want KD to offer up that pick to acquire someone like Brady Tkachuk

I feel like the only player who might be that guy is Misa. I want to say what I've read about him would even that as a longshot for him to be on the opening night roster.

This is what I would prefer too but don't see it happening. No way he comes to this tire fire. Could see him forcing his way to Florida toplay with his brother however. They'll have the cap space and could use

my only other guy I would move mountains for including 2025 1st and 2026 1st plus some top prospects is Quinn Hughes..but like Tkachuk I can see him wanting to play in NJ with his brothers

No way the sens trade Tkachuk and abandon their core’s progress. Not for 3rd overall.

They are finally in a playoff race late in the year.

I don’t think the fans their will tolerate a step backward and their management knows that.

All I know is that this is yet another season where Buffalo is in last place in their division...

... and we have a dozen less points than them.

Teardowns are easy if you have the stomach for it. The rebound is the hard part.

there is alot of parts from Buffalo I would love to poach.. Owen Powers being #1 (assuming Rasmus Dahlin is on no trade)

How long does a complete rebuild take ? Considering in 2022 the state of the Hawks farm system.

How long was the last rebuild-- 2002-2009, and the run went from 09 -16. It's going to take some
time and some draft luck (Misa would be wonderful), and hits down the draft line.. Remember buff and
brower were 8th rounders, Hjammer was a 4th rounder, Keith and crawford were 2nd rounders.

We are in the wilderness now, and it will be a couple more years. If patient I think we will see
to see the upward trajectory, not so much next season, but the season after that.
We need to suck next year too...we need a blue chipper this and next years draft.

Not accurate at all

Hawks didn't start rebuilding until they blew it up during 03-04 season after Daze/Thibault injuries. That went into that year expecting to compete for playoff spot

They also fired the GM that drafted Keith, Seabrook, Crawford, Byfuglien early that season in favor of idiot coach (Brian Sutter) who was gone at end of year anyway among other things (Pulford didn't get along with Smith if I recall)

Yeah, this is going to take a while. I think you need to see what the first wave of prospects do before firing KD but I'm not a fan of his drafts so far.
Everyone was taking Bedard so that doesn't count.

The pieces for the cup start to come together in 2002 : Keith, Wisnewski, and Burish. So I stand by that 2002 starting point.

Who do you take instead of Korchinski at 7 ? Which other picks do you think are suspect...?

I thought they were going to take Nazar or Kasper there tbh. If Nazar and Korchinski were flipped in order I think there would be less criticism.

I would have taken Musty over Moore because after drafting Bedard and Nazar they needed size.

I can't really complain about Lev too much because I liked him, but they needed more scoring so I would have gone Demidov.

Understood... I get the idea of a dynamic winger. We know it's early..but I like the emphasis on speed,
and then blending in size, speed, and athletic ability in later round picks. My brother felt the payment for
the cat was a bit low, but Korchinski has a toolbox and abilities/potential that is enticing. We need
an established coach- no-nonsense- ...perhaps next year, or the year after to establish a winning culture.

I don't know about Gajan... we all don't. Getting a goalie is such a crapshoot, and I hope we can dig one
up in the 2nd round or below.

I think there drafts have been ok, I like eiserman and hage more then SACHA but he is more physical and they need that. Vannacker Iiked at 34 not 27. we killed it in the 3rd round. mustard turns 19 in AUG 16th and has 19 pts in 31 games in the NCAA, spellacy has slowed down a bit but he is a late bloomer with size physicality and speed. pridham has size and speed and has 22 goals in 40 games. basically the hall trade gave us pridham. which puts him at about 30th in goals per game.
