Dwight King is such a none factor yet is getting a lot of ice time

why doesn't he get benched for once?

let Nolan continue his enforcer role, but King has been terrible this post-season and this entire season period! but yet played 47 regular season games and all 9 playoff games!?

seriously...

I've heard this a lot lately, That Kopitar is playing hurt, Funny his injury doesn't seem to effect his defensive play to much. To me it looks like Kopi has been playing with little motivation to score and it seems to be rubbing off on Brown and Williams. Quick has been the only King that has played great constantly since the playoffs started! IMHO...

Honestly his defense has gotten a bit worse but his skating seems a bit slower but his style doesn't seem hurt. He just looks unmotivated. I'm not buying that he's hurt. He just looks like January kopitar the whole season.

any reason why Ellerby was in instead of Martinez?

Two penalties and a -3 in Game 2 for Martinez would have something to do with it. But A) that's just one game and doesn't tell the whole story, and B) the Kings are more mobile defensively and generally move the puck better from the back end with Martinez slotted in.

Now that you mention it, I have to agree Kopi's play has gotten a little sloppy lately, But can that be attributed to an injury or just being plain worn out?

He will be better next season. He's just unmotivated like most of the team. Repeating would be easier if you actually could care about winning it. You can care but you're not as motivated since you just won.

He's not injured. He doesn't have the drive like some others.

I'm not sure why you guys are buying into this whole "Kopi isn't motivated" crap. It's clear he's injured. Everyone on this team cares. If he weren't motivated, Sutter would bench him....he benched Iggy in CGY when he was coach. I don't buy it.

Sutter not so subtly calling out Kopitar's line in his post practice interview.

I'm not 100% buying into the idea that Kopitar isn't motivated, but let's face it the guy has a let down for 15-25 games in a row every season. Is he injured every season?

The Kings definitely miss Greene and Mitchell in this series. Either of them can knock Thornton off the puck and limit his zone time. Right now the only defenseman we have that can do that is Regehr.

And Regher's foot speed and breakout passes hurt us just as often. Mitchell is the gaping hole, the one missing piece that is killing us. Having him on the top pairing with Doughty both takes pressure off Doughty and allows the rest of the defensemen to drop down one step on the depth chart.

If Mitchell's not coming back--and I don't see how we can plan on seeing him play again--finding SOMEONE to replace him must be the top priority for the offseason. Of course, top-pairing defenders available for reasonable prices (or via free agency) at manageable cap hits are always easy to find...

Mitchell definitely has or had a unique combination of skills. The Kings aren't going to find another defensemen as physical as he was with just as good of a first pass.

They are going to have to compensate and deal with the limitations of their other defensemen. I don't see many teams out there with a Mitchell-type defenseman right now. Chara can do everything Mitchell did, only better.

Yeah no.

Says something that the only time the Sharks could score on Quick is when they are down 1-2 men. :)

Heck, hardly even then...we were on our way to killing that penalty till we got stuck out there with Voynov/Ellerby. Ugh.

I'm not gonna put the blame squarely on one player, but you have no business staring at the corner with Couture just chillin behind you...

Sutter messed with the 16-4 lineup by taking out a player, and replacing him with a better player.

These playoffs he has for whatever reason become accustomed to the opposite

The top 9 played every game last year. That is the big difference. He mess around some but we kept the same players.
This year the top 9 has changed around just due to injuries. Much less line changes and adding or subtracting players.

Sutter's thoughts on the top lines.

On the top line’s lack of production:
“Which is our top line? [Reporter: The Kopitar, Brown, Williams line.] Well, Richards’ line has produced more in the playoffs than Kopi’s line, so it’s who you like most is your top line. I don’t think you can get by with a “top line” – one top line. I think we’re playing against a team with two top lines, and we need our two top lines, without having our top checking centerman, we need those two lines to be very productive, and I think if I look at the series, just thinking about it, I think we’ve scored four even strength goals, and I think Richards’ line has scored three and Lewie and Tyler’s scored one last night. So that’s four in the series.”

On the Kopitar line:
“I just said, if we’ve scored four even strength goals in the series, and they haven’t scored one, then I’d say that we expect more.”

I would like to see DS put Penner with Richards and Carter.

I do think that some players are pretty banged up. (looking at you Williams)

Bottom line is that in St.Louis and San Jose, those teams get their preferred match ups.

The kings have yet to lose a game by more than one goal.

I don't think Pearson did any less than what Nolan would have done in 5 min. I think both teams shortened their benches in the third.

Brown Kopi Toffoli
Penner Richards Carter
Clifford Lewis Williams
King Richardson Nolan

DD Regehr
VV Scuderi
Martinez-(doubt Muzzin comes out) Greene

I like this line up. However, will DS do it?
