On top of everything else...the crowd let us down BIG TIME... I've seen (AND been to) livelier funerals...

With all due respect, I'm gonna say the team let US down. They didn't give us anything to cheer about, I turned to my GF halfway through the game and told her I was bored. Actually thought at one point in second period: "**** this. I can have more fun watching grass grow." Wanted to leave, no lie.

Okay, truth is I'm never going to leave a close hockey game, you never know what may happen. But I got the sense throughout the game that the Kings were not ready to play and didn't want to play this game.

The crowd had nothing to cheer about. I'm expecting a total 180° shift for Saturday night. I want to see some energy from the team. If the team shows energy, the fans will.

Some nights you can tell Drew Doughty wants to win the game all by himself. He's great, but he can't stickhandle past five Ducks and score by himself. The rest of the team plays a good team game, and Drew goes all Lone Ranger and traps everyone but Muzzin. That's a terrible play that ends up in a game winning goal.

I know he's young and wants to win badly, but at some point you have to trust your team and your team philosophy. When Drew Doughty has maturity in his game, he's going to win that Norris. He could be Scott Niedermeyer or Nik Lidstrom, but he's gonna have to figure out his limitations.

I can't fault him for doing this sort of thing. Usually he's pretty good about making sure he's got the support before making a rush. Bad timing and bad outcome on that particular play, but I don't see anything for him to correct in particular other than be more careful next time.

Side note. I like Alex Curry and want to see her succeed. Because of that, I hope she starts upping her game with those interview questions. If I have to hear one more variation of "What do you have to do to be ready for the next game?" :banghead:

Study the best interviewers and steal their questions. Up your game, Alex.

The crowd TRIED to get into it. The fans got LOUD when the Kings were killing off the penalty after the 4 on 3, but after Selanne scored that goal you can tell the fans were deflated. The constant offsides, the constant icings, the constant turnovers - it was bad. The Kings didn't do anything to get them back into it until about 30 seconds left in the 3rd period.

Then why would other GM's value him so highly? Would you trade anything of value for Voynov?

Because most people think Voynov is a very good player and as you stated,
a 24 year old RH defenseman (with a Cup Ring) has high value.

He's simply regressed and not improved in any area since the Cup win.
For all the PP time he gets, he had 1 PP Goal this season.

I do not hate him, he's ok. Ok is not good enough, when he's getting 4.167
million and you could trade him for better value.

It's kind of like when Visnovsky was here. Dean would say "you should hear
the offers I get for Lubo". (he did state that)...that's when you consider
pulling the trigger - if you get more than the player is worth. He then waited
another year and his value slipped a little and he got Greene and Stoll, who were in
their prime then. Not a bad deal. But apparently, DL could have gottne more a year before.

I am merely saying I believe you could get better value in a deal than VV actual worth as a player and probably get more cap room. In other words, deal him for
a roster player that maybe gets 2-3 million ...a player that still has upside. VV
doesn't have any upside, because he is regressing.

@theroyalhalf: We call that a “Dustin Brown Hat Trick†MT @Real_ESPNLeBrun: Ducks announce Perreault joining Andersen & Beleskey as wounded from last night

Classless kings.

Jesus, I didn't think we were laying the body that much, but apparently so.

I was a little surprised at how weak the crowd appeared at the start of the game, I figured with the Kings up 2-0 against the hated Ducks in the first series ever between the teams that the building would be rocking from the opening face off, it didn't really seem like that, which is unfortunate because that building can get very loud. Ofcourse the Kings did nothing in the first period to get the crowd into the game after that. That was one of the most disappointing first periods in recent memory.

The Kings must come out on Saturday and have a better start and get the crowd into it.

The crowd was dead?

Not surprised, the real die hard fans were priced out of this game. The cheapest ticket on Stubhub was $150 for yesterdays game and is $180+ for Saturdays game.

Still significantly cheaper than places like Chicago and Minnesota, and those crowds have been very loud.

Crowd was good in years past despite expensive tickets. I don't know why it wasn't as good yesterday.

I paid nearly $500 to sit in the top row of game 3 in the finals, it was pretty loud.

I had a dream this morning that we lit up Hiller. My dreams are always right. Make it so, next game is as good as sealed.

"the real die hard fans" have season seats...

Not true at all but I get where you're going with it. Those with families and not living that local have a hard time justifying season seats. As much as would love to, driving from palmdale especially on weekdays isn't really possible.

There were over 2,000 tix on Stubhub alone the day before the game. Not sure how many else were out there. While I'm sure plenty of loyal fans are flocking to the game, so are many bandwagoners. I'd say the lack of energy from the Kings and lack of flow to the game also influenced the lack of reaction from the attending crowd.

It's funny... I had the SAME feeling watching it at home. The Kings looked out of sync from 5 minutes in the game on, right after they gave up that goal - no different than how Anaheim looked out of sync all game long in Game 2 after Gaborik scored 20 seconds in to the game.

The score may as well have been 10-0, that's how the game felt to me watching it. The score was close but the play wasn't. The Kings were a mess. Just not in sync. The crowd felt that, and that's where the disinterest came from.

It wasn't one of those "exciting" close games. It was a snoozer. Credit Anaheim, they elevated their play and made the Kings look a little silly out there, but they had to. 3-0 = death for them.
