Carter is hurt. Ribs or shoulder or both. Can't shoot. Not looking to shoot. See him and expect him to pass more. The shot he tried to take was a dead quail.

Playoff time for Carter sometimes means injury time.

Don't blame him, the dudes been taking a beating. Especially when MR started doing bad, he is the primary focus and SJ didn't hold back on him either.

Thinking about it. We have a wonderful young defensive core.

(trade) - Doughty
(rookie) - Martinez/voynov
Muzzin.

Voynov has had an off year but there's no doubt the guy will bounce back. It's his full first season and all.

Also McNabb - Doughty combo would be eerily similar to
Pronger - Niedermayer pair the ducks had. Not in the sense of skill, but Dynamics. Tough huge player, with a cannon of a shot that doesn't back down from anything, with a guy who's an elusive amazing two way defenseman. I personally don't like how much players target Doughty, and with McNabb I'm sure players would hesitate to take runs. I just like the mixture of both players dynamics.

Voynov, Doughty, Muzzin, and Martinez are wonderful to have. Most likely a rookie will make it to the line up during the off season. Maybe McNabb or Bodnarchuk. Who knows.

And if DL goes after and makes a trade to get a good defenseman for Doughty then that would be a solid D core for years.

But if he can't I'm sure McNabb or whoever can keep up with Doughty because I have good faith in our defensive prospects.

I think we are gonna see a really awesome fresh Defense line up next year. Muzzin, Voynov, Martinez and Doughty are perfect and inserting two good defenseman in would be great.

Or even one if they decide to keep Reggie, Greene, or Mitchell in the line up.
If two of the three, they'd make a good 7th dman so that works too.

I don't, but sometimes the guy wears down. That said, he hasn't been bad, just hasn't been scoring.

Feels good man. Kings take the home games in Anaheim, now they get the home games in Los Angeles. Bad ass. Take the next two, three maybe, and get the hell out of here and get some rest.

Pretty much, I'm hoping for a sweep so the guys can heal up and be ready. Especially Carter.

Recent history says that in order to win the Cup, one of your series has to be 4 or 5 games. That won't happen against the Blackhawks, so it's important that the Kings get business taken care of now.

Well the kings are the type of team that don't really stick to history the past few years, they end up making it ;). Sounded pretty cocky.

6-0 since Larry David attended a Kings game.

Pretty pretty pretty good.

That felt like a redemption game for the stadium series. I swear half that arena was kings fans, the go kings go chant was louder than any Anaheim chant.

I was sitting in front of some knuckle dragging troglodyte ducks fans who knew nothing about hockey or trash talking but decided to be as loud and obnoxious as humanly possible. I was irritated at first to be sitting in front of them, but their tears made it all worth it.

Schultz was surprisingly okay, Martinez just wow.

It isn't over yet so don't be like sharks fans getting brooms ready but having said that........ THIS ****ING TEAM!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure which game you were watching. We were not badly outplayed, Kings played shut-down defense for that last 40.

They went into a shell half way through the game. Scoreboard is all that matters.

How were we outplayed?? The first and second it was even. And third period was just shut down. That was prevent D. :dunno:

I think you guys are being a little bit biased.

Sitting on a 1 goal lead and going into prevent mode is not the style of hockey that's made this team successful under Sutter. Aggressive forechecking and defense through possession is what's made this team successful in recent years.

The Ducks controlled the game last night. They were getting to pucks first, and neutralized the Kings break out.

LA looked like the 2012 version of the Terry Murray coached Kings. Sit back on a lead, cross your fingers and hope Quick bails you out.

Still have this one saved:

20 points in 20 games, 14 points in 9 games. Kopitar is indeed beastly this year. But I liked his previous picture a lot more.

Is it wrong to look ahead to Chicago? Is it wrong? ;)

It's a little premature. The Kings had one of their worst possession games all season last night by essentially going in to prevent D mode for 40 minutes of the game. It won the game primarily because the Ducks stupidly convinced themselves to play a perimeter game. Good on Sutter for adjusting, but I would have liked to see a bit more (a lot more) attack from the Kings than we saw last night.

Boudreau is not impressing me at all in this series - showing shades of what's gotten him into coaching trouble in the past. He had Getzlaf and Perry out for maybe 20 seconds of the last 4 minutes of the game. Ran with 1D and 4F for a while the last 3 or so minutes, so they were playing a way they weren't accustomed to. I understand trying to be creative, but when you need a goal with 4 minutes to go, you get Getzlaf and Perry together on the ice as much as possible.

I were Boudreau I'd be very concerned. They outplayed the Kings in game 1, outpossessed them hugely in game 2, had home ice, had last change, and lost both games. I'm pretty sure we saw the Ducks best effort from an attack perspective in game 1 and a possession perspective in game 2 - not good enough. Now the Kings will get the matchups they want for the next 2 games.

I felt this series would go 6, but as others have noted, for the Kings to have a prayer vs. Chicago it really needs to go no more than 5. They are VERY banged up at the moment.

That is exactly how I felt after Game 1. All the Ducks fans at Dodger Stadium living it up and rubbing it in after that game just compounded how bad that night was when you consider the quality of the game and the cost to attend. They were not so happy after Game 1 and I can imagine they were even more somber after going down 0-2.

Excellent.

Yeah, and you do what you need to do to win each individual game as conditions arise.

The ice wasn't great last night, so dumb things down. Keep it simple. Get the puck out of the zone. Get the puck deep. Don't be a hero with a lead.

The Kings have the 2014 version of Voynov out there, along with the 2014 version of Greene, and Schultz playing his first game for the Kings. That's half of the defense. If you get the lead, don't mess up, that's it.

Every game isn't going to be a masterpiece.

That is one exceptionally talented D corps there. Have to love that bunch on its own. Room to add two more to fill in and or give us a different look. Should be fun to see what happens next season.

qft.

Anybody else notice the beautiful play by Carter on the 2nd goal to widen his stance and not try to stop the puck going back to Martinez?

Man, considering Greene has played his 12th game in 3 months (injuries, Olympic break, scratched), he has been pretty serviceable outside that Game 2 fiasco. Pretty wise to hold on to him as a #7, and good to see him play his time out as a King with meaningful contribution.

I'm interested in seeing more of Schultz, he had a quality game and logged 20 minutes. I'll leave it at that for now.

I don't think you are giving the Kings enough credit. I do think Anaheim carried the play after the first. I do think the Kings did a great job of keeping them on the perimeter and there weren't a whole lot of great scoring chances. The one goal the Ducks got was off a defender. The bottom line, you need to win ugly games to win the playoffs and that is what that was. The Kings have a MASH squad of defensemen right now including one who played his first NHL game of the season. All things considered, the Kings did well. You win two on the road against a team that didn't lose too many home games this year, you are doing something right.

This is just further proof that there are quite a few Duck-tards out there. I know they love to point fingers and call Kings fans "Raider fans" but the reality is, there is plenty of obnoxious and aggressive Duck fans out there. I sat next to one at the bar the other night and I know the dude. I'm sure some of you dorks are reading this, quit with the holier than thou act. Nobody is buying it. I know there are plenty of idiot Kings fans as there are any other team. There are more Kings fans than Duck fans so naturally, there are going to be more.

What a bunch of drunken jackasses. It's probably not possible to identify these fools but would be great if they were ID'd and permanently banned from attending games at The Pond and Staples Center. I can't stand for this savage mentality of fighting at a sporting event. People take their wives, girlfriends, kids, family to games and having to witness that garbage just makes me hang my head in shame.

And is it me or did it seem like it was Ducks fans fighting one another? Either way, hope those turds face some form of punishment.

Those two guys are fighting eachother are both wearing Ducks jersey. Kings fans are just watching.

And the girl should have known better.

I don't know how you can tell anything from that video. I never saw any girl or anything else for that matter.

By the way, who are these clowns that whip out their phone and start recording whenever something like this happens? Really, that's your first instinct? :shakehead

Also, I loved seeing Stoll lay Perry out with that open ice hit. Perfect tone-setter against Anaheim's best player, the more of that the better. Stoll's offense might have gone to dry island but his hitting is more ferocious than ever.
