Kings had no puck luck this game, but this one was one they could have won. Toffoli has to score on that breakaway.

It's a toss up who was the worst player on the ice between Williams and Schultz. But ultimately this is going to be the same story as last series , we need Kopitar to outplay Toews just like he outplayed Getzlaf, today that didn't happen. Kopi's line had some rushes but was pinned down quite a bit in our zone.

As far as Martinez, this is a Kings GDT so I assume there were 50 posts blaming the refs, but to me it's just a ridiculously stupid play by a guy not known for it. What exactly is AMart trying to do there, the Hawks stupid nobody 12th forward stops a foot in front of Quick and is engaged by Mitchell and 5 seconds after the whistle he knocks him down. I thought the Kings did a solid job of weathering the early storm and were ready to play Kings hockey and that penalty changed everything, there is just no excuse for it, again I didn't get a great look because it was on the opposite side, someone text me that Bollig's flopped, but even if he did, don't even give the refs a chance to make that call, very disappointed in Martinez.

Oh well, will post when I get home. Game 2 now becomes a must win IMO.

Solid effort - nothing to be upset about other than the dumb game time.

LOL - wouldn't be a Kings board PGT without someone throwing a 3rd pair d-man or a 4th liner under the bus

He made two critical mistakes that led to the first two Chicago goals. He had a surprisingly strong showing against ANA but he was just awful today. Can't afford to keep him in the lineup.

They pulled one out of their ass, but the problem is they'll make adjustments and it'll be a tougher game in Game 2. Really need to cash in on the opportunities to win in this building. We had quite a few today.

This Hawks team you saw today has been like this all playoffs long. They aren't that good like last year.

Sorry you didn't get to see a win tonight, Herby. Those have been hard to come by out there for the Kings.

Meh the arena is full of Towes, Sharp, and Kane fangirls. Know a lot of girls that are Kane/Toews fans because they think they are cute. Can't really talk to them about hockey without them mentioning their bromance. :help:

Right now I'm super positive, and I'm sure it's going unnoticed. I will probably make one negative comments in the near future, and someone will say "why are you always so negative" -_-

This. They have reason but it's unbecoming. I actually miss Ducks fans.

They're the cup champs. They've had a lot of recent success. They have no reason not to be cocky. This really shouldn't surprise anyone.

The Ducks haven't had success in closer to 10 years. Only a couple players are left on that team, and in that organization, that were there for 2007 so there's a bit less to crow about, especially after the same disappointing game 7 failure they had last year against the Red Wings.

But hey, if you think Hawks fans are insufferable, just wait for the Habs fans if they make it to the Finals.

There are no must win games but elimination games. If you say game two or game five is a must win , then your team losses....then what ?

Game five last series was a must win , Kings lost that game. Game three round one was a must win, Kings lost that game as well.

That is true. They've been relying more on opportunistic hockey instead of puck possession. I just hate pissing away opportunities in this building, where it's been difficult for the Kings to win. Here's to hoping they play the same way as today on Wednesday, but finish the chances this time.

This will be an excellent series. Chicago in 6 is still my view. You're right, the Hawks aren't as deep and as mentally focused as they were last year. But the extra rest helps us, and Shaw should be back by the time we go to LA.

Refs were brutal today. No calls aplenty. But not going to piss and moan with a W. We know how the Kings want to play and just need to handle it accordingly. Kings are a team Chicago respects, as we should.

wow such positive comment in a kings loss. I was thinking it would be all the chicken little types having there thrills. Kings played well bad bounces is all that happened Different bounces we would have won. On to game two. This bad hawks team isn't that scary. We can beat them.

Honestly did anyone expect the Kings to win game one on Chicago (where Hawks are strong) on a Sunday afternoon with less than 48 hours rest.....

Not happening folks , the only hope was that the Hawks didn't show up. Game two is a much better gauge of how the series will trend.

Nope, fully expected a loss in game 1 after what they just had to go through the last 48 hours. Thanks NHL, don't worry about the product on the ice, just keep worrying about what your beloved NBC wants.

Not afraid. Don't think we win Game 2, but my Hawks fan friend acknowledge a big scare. That alone says how far we've come and I liked our game minus the bounces. Crappy PP goal, Lewis with the game winner, Toffoli hitting the post, not getting the puck into the empty nets...those all bit us. Hawks were lucky to win this one and that hurts, but our play is very encouraging of making a long series out of this.

But jesus, you can cut the smugness on this site with a knife. we're so lucky the NHL didn't just send us to the golf course and give the Hawks a bye.

Schultz has worn out his welcome. Time to put Greene back in if Regehr can't go.

Hmm, Doughty-Muzzin Mitchell-Voynov Martinez-Greene isn't so bad. Don't think Sutter will do it though.

So the general atmosphere in this thread is..

That's a good sign.

Pretty much. Good back-and-forth game, utter domination in second period, crappy result.

Didn't expect it, which is what made it hurt so much when it was close

NHL has Jamal Mayers as an analysis for this series is a joke. The guy reeks of homerism.
