I’m not sure why I continuously keep seeing this posted.
How can anyone watch the game last night and think goaltending is what is failing Edmonton right now?

The oilers are leaking scoring chances in bunches. Colorado is generating a ton of chances off the rush, multiple odd man rushes, breakaways, shots from the slot, etc over these first 2 games.

They’ve allowed 87 shots in 2 games and probably over 50 scoring chances.
It's just hilarious.

Not really. The top forward lines may cancel each other out. But the top pairing defense is still a massive miss match. Nurse might equal out Toews, but no one on the Oilers blueline comes close to Makar.
Nah, like not even close.

There is exactly 2 other dmen in this entire league on Makar's level and those guys are in the ECF. Also playing on even terms=/=exactly match. Colorado has no match for McDavid ability wise either (lets not pretend MacKinnon is on his level) you just need to make it close enough to stand a chance which MacKinnon can do. Nurse played fine into Colorado's top line and top pairing in the regular season and now he looks like a rich man's Esa Lindell.

Apparently now, Kadri just being in the vicinity of a play means that he was the one that knocked off the glove. It defiantely had nothing to due with Smith swiping his glove and hitting Keith

Have also provided a link to a video format of the gif, so that you can slow down the moment to see that it is Keith that knocks the glove off. Cause all the bias against Kadri is going to come out when people think it's Kadri's stick that knocks the glove off

You could tell immediately that Kadri didn't have anything to do with it because Smith didn't throw a fit or complain.

Any goalie is going to be upset if an opposing player takes his glove off, but the idea of Mike Smith of all people getting his glove ripped off by an Avs skater and not making a peep is absurd haha.

Oilers fans using Nurse's injury as an excuse to why they're down 2-0 are conveniently ignoring the fact that if Doughty was healthy they wouldn't have even made it this far.

Even with Nurse healthy, this team isn't even in the same stratosphere as Colorado.

The only goal you can blame Smith for is the 2nd one but even on that goal why was Manson wide open and given all the time in the world to pick his spot?

Nurse at 100% means we can play the Avs top line on even terms and trade chances. Nurse injured means he just gets burned wide left and right b/c he can't hit or close gaps and just gets himself hemmed in before an inevitable brainfart leads to a goal against (see: the Kadri goal game 2, Nurse just in general game 1)
Nurse at 100% still has those same issues, he just eats more minutes

25+ minutes a night against the other team's best players and has good analytics...this "he isn't that good" is absolute nonsense
He's a glorified top end second pairing defenceman. he isn't good

hey look who's back
worry about your team being the embarrassment of the NHL playing in a college arena

This series is not over. Not even close to being over. Oilers going home = raucous crowd and I fully expect them to win at least 1 game.

That said... please, Oiler fans. Stop saying the refs are the reason the Avs are winning. You want to complain about interference/hooking/holding style plays going uncalled. The Oilers didn't get called for those either. Both teams are getting away with tons of interference/holding. Refs are allowing it to happen.

What the refs won't allow are clear slashes to the hands, elbows to the head, clear trips taking out guys' legs, and obvious too many men on the ice minors. There's nothing to complain about.

Jay Woodcroft sounded pathetic in his postgame presser looking to subtly call out officiating, as if even ONE of those penalties wasn't deserved.

Go watch Nurse vs the Avs games in the regular season again. He was much better at every facet at the game. He's an all tools no toolbox dman who has some of the best tools in the league. Take away the tools and he's just Esa Lindell.

Smith started to blow up for a micro second after the goal. Until he realized what truly happened.

Nurse wishes he's half the player Esa is in his own zone. What a weird take.

Lol I love how their fans and coach are holding onto the “7-2 PP, refs rigged it” narrative like 4 of them didn’t come from them gooning it up at the end when the game was out of reach.

Esa Lindell had a game where he was 0-10 in HDCF vs Calgary and got abused almost every shift every game, a team Nurse was fine vs even while injured. He is an absolute garbage garbage garbage player in all 3 zones by every analytics metric.

how the heck do you know how his injury is affecting him?
He messed up a short pass to a player 3 feet away… that led to a goal… injury related?

You mean the games where we didn’t have our full lineup? Or the ones where we already locked into the playoffs and decided to mess around with lines to find chemistry? Yeah the season series is really helping you now.

Sure thing. I also love absurdly small sample sizes which don't factor for teammates. Imagine a defensive D surrounded with shitty teammates having bad analytic numbers

I’m not sure I’ve seen a whinier coach than this clown.

I guess it’s fitting that’s the type of person they have behind the bench.

How is he whining?

Every single d partner Lindell gets partnered with does better away from him in most years.

It's a shame that another year of McD's career is wasted with bad goaltending. How they didn't do everything humanly possible to upgrade in goal is a career-ending decision. Or it should be.
I mean they really tried to get Markstrom. In hindsight it's probably a good thing he chose Calgary

How is he whining?

He knows what he's doing when he's stating, "I'm sure the necessary people will look at that." Also goes on to say the principal point of contact was the head, but it's "not his call."

Woodcroft is pleading for the refs/league to look at nothing, meanwhile he has some assholes on his own team purposely trying to injure Avs players when the game is out of reach.
