Exactly and the Avs were playing efficient, disciplined hockey as well. They're there to win and i'm not sure what Edmonton is there to do because it sure doesn't look like they have any plan or structure for this series other than hope McDrai scores 40+ points each in a historic playoff run

GM's went crazy that offseason and were handing out 8M AAV + contracts to upcoming RFA defenseman. The market was set before Nurse signed.

It's a bad contract though, he had pretty inflated stats from playing in the Canadian division and his shooting % was ridiculously high.

8m AAV is generous for Nurse, he's def over paid. But it seemed like the entire league was going stupid with those contracts given to dmen that year

Avalanche d core is banged up too. There’s no question Devon Toews has some sort of ankle or leg injury. He’s failing down a lot when he has to make stop and turns. He’s definitely not as fast east to west as he’s been. He took some time off at the end of the season just like Nurse. He hasn’t been himself albeit good enough. Also girard is out for the remainder of series. It’s the playoffs. Injuries happen. That is what depth is for.

This series is far from over though.
