Also remember that Girard is injured but is another extremely skilled transition defenceman.

The next 4 up are EJ, Manson, Murray, and JJ. All of whom except for JJ are capable of 20 points. There’s a legitimate case for it being the most transition focused d group of all time. Any of Makar, Toews, Byram, or Girard could be the main offensive defenceman on a bunch of other teams.

I can’t even think of a team in history that is built similarly, most really good teams based on defenceman like the late 2000 Ducks or the mid 2010 Preds are more focused on dzone play or two way play rather than pure transition like the Avs are.
2009 Wings with Lidstrom, Rafalski, Kronwall, Stuart probably takes the cake but this is definitely a very similarly built team

You guys claiming fantasies that “McDavid can grind in a corner better than Sid” is embarrassing.

I will not succumb to hivemind nonsense. This “McDavid cannot be criticized” crap is stupid. It’s only teenagers. No rational adult could act like the people on this forum.

Sid grinds in corners. That’s his game. McDavid is an open ice player. Both have strengths and weaknesses.

The embarrassing thing is that the second you mention the weaknesses in McDavid’s game, oily teenagers get riled up and dogpile on you.

You’re the embarrassment
It has nothing to do with “mentioning weaknesses”.

It has to do with your “there’s at least 5 players I’d pick before him” comments.

The guys been performing at a near historic level these playoffs before this ONE game.

Not a huge Jeff O'Neill Guy

But his analysis of Darnell Nurse is spot on

"On the first 2 goals Nurse's back is to the play, and he makes completely blind backhand passes that end up in their net 2 seconds later"

McDavid has picked up on his defense and his physicality from the little I’ve seen. But yes I think I would. Just my opionon don’t let it ruin your day and get to worked up about it
We’re all welcome to our opinions.

Some opinion are just absolutely stupid and wrong though. I’ll let the others let you know which one this one is.

Point > McDavid 😂

McDavid doesn't need to be sheltered at home or get away from Makar lol. Are people forgetting he had 3 points last game, on the road? Makar was on the ice for 2 of the goals against.

Makar has been excellent though, best player on the Avalanche this series and overall these playoffs. I've been incredibly impressed with Bowen Byram too, absolutely love his game.

Props to the Avs they played a tremendous game in front of Franky. The guys clearly wanted to play sound game for him and executed perfectly. Still a lot of hockey to go. Back to Edmonton where it will be bonkers.

Avs just learned they don’t need to play the run n gun game. Won’t happen again.

Wanted this to be a competitive series and, at times, it looked like it could be. However, once the big guns are off the ice, Oilers just get pushed in rather easily. Also, Nurse is injured and needs to sit, Woodcroft has to know how much it harms rather than helps.

With all that being said, I am still hoping it goes the distance. More hockey is better.

Yeah, certainly not a Jeff O'Neill fan....anti Oilers Leafs homer and would likely swear in church when talking about the Oilers. This isn't exactly a hot take though either. I mean, Oiler fans have been down on Nurse for a long time for stupid shit like this.

I guess if you don't normally watch the Oilers though it would be insightful.

I heard Woodcroft mentioning about Landeskog hitting Yamamoto in the head. Anyone have a clip? I recall it looking shoulder to shoulder.

I think point was money last year in their run. Am I supposed to care what other people think of my opinion?do I lose fan points for this?

Where is the guy I’ve seen numerous people call the best player since Gretzky? Was he playing tonight? Didn’t notice.

There’s at least 5 guys in the league I take before McDavid. Minimum. Let alone all time. But McDavid will always have his regular season trophies.

So that’s nice.
The line between cynicism and idiocy isn't even all that fine

I said it after last game but when the avs lose a game or don’t play to their standard they’ve reset every time this year and came out lights out the next game. I really think the avs have liked playing on the road this year.
