Momentum? They barely beat a bad kings team. Calgary fell apart there faced zero competion. Colorado is going to murk them and it's going to be glorious. This will be the closest mcd gets to the cup in an oilers jersey
This post is almost as confusing as your username. The Oilers slayed 2 selke forwards , then "murked" Calgary, everything from here on out is gravy time. You better hope Colorado doesn't open it up and stays "disciplined" or it will be more of the same.

Well, so far the Avs have been the 2nd least penalized team during these playoffs behind Pittsburgh. Which is good, because the Avs PK leaves a lot to be desired.

Doesn't McDavid play the highest % of time for any forward in the league? He might be on the ice 25+ minutes every game in this series.
Not really, a few games but mostly around 21-22 mins. Obviously if things are tight or in OT then he's going to see more mins and get double shifted to try and close it out.

Sucks Oilers don’t have a better goaltender. Would be an absolutely incredible series if they did. Still think it will be a good one though

Taking the Avs to game 6 in the WCF with a 40 year old in net is not reality check. Colorado should take the Oilers out in 5 or less. If they don't then it will be the Avs getting a reality check.

The thing is Smith didn't play nearly as many games as Kuemper, he was injured and came back and just started playing his best towards the end of the season. He can have some crap games and good for 1 lousy goal against but he's been solid and is relatively fresh and driven, he knows this is his last chance. Either way, it'll be an interesting series.

Craig must sacrifice small animals everyday no one googles his police record since the #metoo era started.

Why? Because he accidently killed someone 40 years ago?

I don't condone drinking and driving, but you also have to consider that it was a different time, literally impaired driving wasn't even illegal. Cops would pull you over and yell you to drive straight home, maybe give you a reckless driving ticket.

Kings weakest team in the Playoffs Blah blah blah Calgary pretenders Blah Blah Blah keep moving those goalposts wider so the Oil can keep filling those nets
To be fair, I think a lot of us were saying Calgary was way overrated coming into the playoffs, many oiler fans included. That's not to say you guys didn't destroy them, because you did. But I know there were definite reservations by many with that team and the way they played the stars didn't alleviate those concerns. They are an odd team in that there seemed to be no happy medium with how people viewed them, they were either considered Stanley cup favorites or paper tigers lol.

That is to take nothing away from how Edmonton played them, they deserved to win and got the job done. But I do believe there were quite a few who thought Calgary was not the darlings they were proclaimed to be.

Actually, thinking about it now, that's kinda how many people view the Avs as well. Either Stanley cup favorites or overrated media darlings. I guess it's well deserved in some ways when you've disappointed over the last couple years.

And if he did it today…

I’m surprised it hasn’t come back to bite him in the ass.

I was surprised how bad Markstrom was.

I was surprised how bad Markstrom was.

Why would it? He atoned for his sins. He puts a lot of effort into the community, tbh. He also has done some MADD advocacy in the past as well.

Growing up in Edmonton the first time I ever saw someone note not to drive under the influence was actually Craig Mactavish.

You're right, if he killed someone while under the influence and driving today it would be an entirely different thing. But you can't retroactively apply the standard.

I’m not sure Colorado’s forward depth is that much better than Edmonton’s tbh. I see a lot of posts surrounding that, but here’s the bottom 6’s.

Colorado:

Burakovsky - Compher - Aube-Kubel

Cogliano - Helm - LOC

Edmonton:

Foegle - McLeod - Puljujarvi

Archibald - Ryan - Kassian

The quality of the Avs blue line is better, but honestly I think if Colorado wins this series it will be on the back of their star players. Just like Edmonton.

Not that I'm an expert on escrow or anything, but hockey players love hating on the big bad escrow that they agreed to in their contracts.
Mackinnon’s share of escrow is just over a million dollars.

I hope every player, every year gets all their escrow returned.

As do I as it means the league is doing well, but if it doesn't, he was not entitled to that money anyways.

Not sure how, but he has a better save% in these playoffs than the Colorado guy. Head scratcher for sure, but playoffs always have twilight zone moments. One should never assume this far in, capeche?

I went with my heart and said Oil in 6. Honestly, I think they are in tough. They don't match up well in the areas you need to win in the playoffs. That said, the Oilers are not winning with that particular set of guidelines. They are winning like the Oiler teams of the past. I'm not sure that's a winning formula over teams like the Avs. We shall see.

McDrai and Co will need to make up for the massive difference on the back end for Edmonton to have much of a chance. Smith will just need to match Kuemper which should be do-able since he's not that good.

If Edmonton can get some production from their bottom 6 they might be able to take this to 6 or 7 games but I still got Avs in 6. They are deeper on the back end and generate a lot of shots, which doesn't bode well when you have a guy like Smith in net who is due to let in atleast 1 bad goal a game.

Only chance Oil have to win series is if McDrai go god mode again and goaltending is a push.

This board is gonna implode from the complaining about refs
As long as they let players play and police the junk against the star players on both teams there should be no issues. I hate it when refs decide to become a part of the game and randomly call marginal hooks or whatever on fourth liners or every 16th crosscheck in front of the net.

I agree, without mentioning names Calgary just doesn’t have the super elite talent they thought they had on the top line. Certainly not the best line in the league come playoff time, and Markstrom leaked goals. Both Colorado and Edm have top players, and deserve to be where they are. Oil need all hands on deck and luck. But isn’t that what playoffs are all about?
