The biggest difference is that in basketball LeBron played 40 plus minutes of a 48 minute game or about 85% to 90% of the game.
Doesn't McDavid play the highest % of time for any forward in the league? He might be on the ice 25+ minutes every game in this series.

Have the oilers in #5. McDsvid, Draisatl, Cane, Nuge, Zach H, much better scoring power than Avs. Goalies are equal, Colorado D little better (nothing to brag about, except their offensive defencman). Oilers will open Avs fans eyes. This team has momentum.
Agree with you about the momentum. They just won 4 games in a row, let's see how long that continues until they put up a stinker. I'd be surprised if the Avs would lose this series in 5 games but you never know.

One thing I will say about the Avs this season as opposed to years past, is that they are more even-keeled than they used to be. In the past, a game #5 loss in the manner in which it happened would have sent them spiraling down into an abyss of self-loathing and then they'd start to play poorly. No longer. They came right back, played their game and took the play to STL.

Should be a great series no matter what!

Taking the Avs to game 6 in the WCF with a 40 year old in net is not reality check. Colorado should take the Oilers out in 5 or less. If they don't then it will be the Avs getting a reality check.

Probably why I said "at most."

I would not say that McDavid, Draisatl, Cane, Nuge, and Hyman have a "much" better scoring potential than MacKinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog, Kadri, and Nichushkin. I would say its fairly even. The top 2 of McDavid and Drai gets the edge over MacK and Rantanen, but I would say the next 3 favor Colorado. The scoring potential from the defense is not close at all with Makar, Toews, and Byram being head and shoulders above anyone that is on the Oilers.

For these playoffs

No offense, but this is a load of shit. "Stress if off"? You are in the conference final.

The Oilers had four first overall picks in six years, including a "generational talent" in McJesus, and picked #3 and #7 (Nurse and Drai) in the other two years. Before this spring, they had exactly one playoff series win. Until this year, they have drastically underachieved, something I think all Oiler fans would agree on.

The Pens had two #1 and two #2 in four straight years, and won a Cup within three years.

Hats off to the Oil for getting to the WCF, but you don't draft that much talent to get to the conference final, with apologies to Yakupov and Hall. The Oilers were fifth in the west, not some borderline playoff team. This "house money" rhetoric is bullshit, especially when you are two rounds away from winning it all.

Many Oiler fans see big roster deficiencies and have since the start of the season. Like I said, they *should* be cup contenders and be a top tier team by now. But they havent built the roster to do that

SoI personally have already processed this, so a loss in the WCF isnt going to change anything for me

Fair enough.

Fair enough.

2nd round or WCF loss in 5 games is probably the max upside for this roster. Which is sad because of the top talent.

So its not "house money" int he sense of it being a cinderalla team that made an unexpected run (say 2006 Oilers. It is more, that they have made it likely to the end of the rosters capability and have now run into teams that can expose those weaknesses

The issue I see for the Oilers is they play a steady game for only 2/3s of a game it seems like. The other 1/3 is wild west. Whereas they give up 1-2 goals in a flash to Calgary, it may be 3-4 with Colorado.

Again, HFs obsession with age knows no bounds. He has been good in the playoffs for them, who cares how old he is right now? He has probably been better than several younger goalies. The guy on the other side is not exactly a brick wall either and he is in his 20s. Who cares about age?

That's a terrible take.
Momentum? They barely beat a bad kings team. Calgary fell apart there faced zero competion. Colorado is going to murk them and it's going to be glorious. This will be the closest mcd gets to the cup in an oilers jersey

Burner account created solely to take shots at the Oilers. Why don't you join a fanbase? I promise you'll have more fun than spouting hate. Or just go back to your home on CP.

Listen young man. I get you you just started watching hockey, and you have your Matthews PJs, and bedcovers...

Why don't you ask your parents if you can stay up late Tuesday night to watch two real teams play. Bonus, you get to finally watch past the first round.

Note: There are 4 rounds in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. I know it's confusing, as you've only seen 7 or less games.
