4 games against 5 of teams in your division, 3 vs fhe other 2 teams(avs only played 3 vs dallas and st louis, 2 of tougher teams in division) 3 games agaimst teams in the other division in your conference. 2 games against all the other teams in the opposing conference.

With the way the schedules are very balanced now, it feels silly to have divisional plauoffs as their is very little extra division competition during the regular season to even group teams by division.
It really should just go back to 1v8 and 2v7, with the divisional winners getting the top 2 spots

Colorado played in a division (divisional games account for about 30% of a team's games played) that scored 6% more (excluding Colorado and Calgary) than the Pacific division. If you think that a 6% higher scoring division in 30% of a team's games account for the big discrepancy of defensive metrics between Calgary and Colorado then I'm not sure what to tell you. The defensive metrics aren't close between Calgary and Colorado in the regular season.

And for the record I do believe Calgary overachieved this season, but you can't dispute their actual performance on the ice was among the best defensively of all NHL teams this year.
You play 3 games vs all pacific teams. You only play 3 games vs blues and stars followed by 4 games(1 extra game vs the rest of the teams in your division) ratings a teams record by what division they play in doesnt make much sense anymore. Divisional playpffs really dont make much sense with so little in season fovus on division rivalries in games played

If anyone has a link to the 2004 leafs-sens series, hook a brother up and share with this guy. It's been 18 years since the leafs have won anything and he needs something to cheer him up.
Kind of a weird thing to say in an Edmonton-Colorado series thread. The fact that you had to look up who the Leafs beat for their last series is kind of weird. Obsessed much?

Kadri gonna be fun to watch this series. Watch him completely throw the Oilers off their game.

Oilers are full marks for beating the Flames, but now they get their reality check. Avs in 6, at most.

There's absolutely no substance to your response. If you're not going to address the point of the conversation, why are you on a hockey board?

Usually when there is lack of substance, people retort to making personal attacks or generalizations. It's a useless response and this seems like it'll be a useless conversation too.

And why on earth you are that offended that I called the Oilers the underdog...I have no idea.
well one reply since you obviously went through the effort to reply ... You implied they were the underdog in both series which they were not in the first round ... 98 percent of people had the oilers beating the kings ... i get it you guys don't get very far that often i'll excuse the excitement

When was the last time there was this much top-heavy star power in one series ? Colorado-Detroit? Edmonton-Islanders?

*minus goaltenders, of course.

Happy to be the underdog here. Avs have all kinds of pressure, I think it all comes down to how our D perform. We haven't seen D as good as Makar or Toews yet this playoffs, going to need to adjust how we defend. Large mountain to climb but not unclimbable IMO.

Read the initial post again. Again, absolutely baffled that you are so offended by the Oilers being called an underdog.

Woodcroft isn't throwing out the top unit for two minutes unlike Tippett so I think that's part of it too, but you obviously don't want to take too many penalties.

You never know when it comes to playoff refs, but this postseason:

Avs PIM: 70
Edmonton PIM: 156

The Avs have been on the low end of the PIM spectrum for a few years now. Bednar has done a good job getting that out of their game.

Those Wings/Avs series from the 90s/early 2000s weren't top heavy, both teams had serious depth throughout.

We will see how it goes. Playoffs is different animal and now that this generation of Avs finally broke the curse of second round, I expect them to go all the way.

You watched Draisaitl just score 17 in 5 games of this different animal, yeah?
