Avs in 4? Comical. If 2 of the top 4 defensive centremen in the nhl in Kopitar and Danault couldnt stop Mcdrai no one will. They might slow them down but thats it.

Avs will have more success than LAK in keeping the play in Edmonton's zone which ultimately is the best way to stop McDrai. Doesn't matter how good you are defensively if you're always in your own zone as LAK were for large portions of that series.

Two top ten CF% teams in the regular season, Colorado having the distinct edge so far in the playoffs.
Both top five 5v5 xGF/60 so far in the playoffs. Colorado having the advantage in 5v5 xGA/60 so far in the playoffs. Both fairly close in xGF/60 on the PP so far in the playoffs.

The oilers are volatile. They’re like the crackhead at the gas station. You could probably take them most days, but catch them on the wrong day and you’ll get your ass mauled. They’ve already proven they can string 4 of those maulings together in a 7 game series.

Really no clue what to expect out of this game. I have Avs in 7, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if either team swept.

The Avs don't need to stop the McDavid line. They just need to slow them down slightly and win all the rest of the matchups. Which, given the difference in material and depth, shouldn't be a task too tall.

Torn between Kadri and Hyman. I want both to win. I want both to hoist the cup.

Can't we award both of them Stanley

You think Ceci/Barrie/Nurse/Keith are going to stop Mack/Kadri/Rantanen/Makar, LOL.

what was your call on the Oilers vs Flames series again?

I seem to remember some moron saying “bookmark my post, Flames are coming back to win this series”

Maybe it was someone else.

It was him (I bookmarked it)

Edmonton fans are obsessed with their WCF arrival after a team with an AHL defense took them to 7 games and then beating a paper tiger with the worst goaltending I’ve seen in my quarter decade of watching playoff hockey. Adjusting to a better team is an actual thing.

Quarter of a century of watching hockey proves that not everyone knows Jack shit.

Not like they had their way with us during the season, we'll see.

Oilers tend to elevate their play quite a lot for good teams.

To be fair, the Oilers never played the Avalanche at full strength in the regular season.

Landeskog missed all three games. Landeskog and Rantanen both missed the game Edmonton won.

But I agree, the Avalanche won't have their way with the Oilers and it's going to be a tight series. I think momentum should never be taken lightly and right now the Oilers are red hot. This can often nullify any advantage on paper making it more about who converts their chances in the big moments.

This is going to be the first real test for the Oilers, will be exciting to watch. I just hope they're not 10PM starts (eastern time) Expecting the Avs to sweep, but let's see what McDavid/Drai can do against a top team. This isn't the Kings or Flames. I just don't see the oilers blue line being able to contain the powerhouse that is Colorado, that will be the difference to me. I think McDavid will be the highest scorer in the series but ultimately Colorados forward depth and contributions from the blue line will be the difference. From an entertainment perspective I expect this to be the best series so far, high flying teams lots of offence.
You're in luck. 6pm MT starts (8pm ET) starting on Tuesday and running every other day after that.

It was ridiculous that the NHL had games in the Calgary-Edmonto series that started at almost 9pm local time. Just an amateur thing to do.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but the last time these two teams met in the playoffs, the Oilers upset a very good Colorado team. Now that was an upset.
